Are Men Naturally Polygamous? by 5minsmadness: 8:47pm On Jul 07, 2015 |
The answer is simple: Yes. The Reason: Men have a higher sex drive/libido than women. It all stems from the male sex hormone testosterone whih is 16times higher in the male than in the female. Testosterone is the main hormone responsible for libido/sex drove in males. Women possess testosterone as well but in very small amounts when compared to thier male counterparts. Women's sex drive is further reduced by the prescence of estrogen which although is necessary for the lubrication of the vagina, is an antagonist to testosterone and reduces its level in the female system further. However as a man ages, his testosterone levels reduce gradually over the years until the age of 60-65 when he begins to lose interest in sex although not completely. The female on the other hand loses a lot of her eostrogen when she hits menopause and o her testosterone levels increase but still never reaches the level of a male. Polygamy: The above simply explains that males naturally have a higher sex drive than females and so are bound to have more sexual partners than their female counterparts. This is not peculiar to homo sapien species as other male creatures in the animal kingdom ranging from the chimpanzee to the lion and even the male chicken(cock) have multiple female partners and thus practice polygamy. Society: Unfortunately/fortunately society has placed an embargo on the number of female partners a male can have at any given point in time. This was probably done to reduce fights among the females, improve the ability of the man to cater for a smaller family in a more sophisticated/modern world where a larger family did not directly translate to a better chance at survival as is was in prehistoric/agrarian era. Even at that some societies still allow for a man to be polygamous e.g african, moorish, conservative American societies e.g the state of Utah and other neighbouring states ,etc. Religion: Although Christianity appears to encourage monogamy profusely, it does not directly discourage polygamy either. Numerous quotations abound in which a man is admonished to love his wife(not wives) and yet the bible passage of a bishop being the hsband of one wife seems to imply that there were men with more than one wife who by that sttatus were not recommended to being bishops. There are very few instances in which the female is polyandrous e.g the Indian marriages of Asia but these are exceedingly rare, and are practically miniscule to non-existent in the animal kingdom. cc bukatyne ( i assume this is what you wanted to ask in that thread) 5 Likes 3 Shares |

Re: Are Men Naturally Polygamous? by bellong: 10:15pm On Jul 07, 2015 |
Not really that men are polygamous. Humans' wants and appetites are insatiable. A married person will always see another hot chick he is willing to go down with due to this internal struggle to meet all wants. Same for women, reason why we have ladies who only want an open relationship. However, the society more or less favour the man opting for more wives than woman marrying more than one husband at the same time. One of the things accepting Jesus does in anybody's life is the grace to kill these ungodly appetites for wants and lust through the workings of the Holy Spirit in one by subjecting the flesh to death. Men are not polygamous, humans are. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Are Men Naturally Polygamous? by cococandy(f): 10:28pm On Jul 07, 2015 |
To answer the OP Yes. And women are monogamous in nature. Once attracted to one man, they can't ever be attracted to another or Even be tempted in any way to get close to another man. #feeling like an angel 4 Likes |

I can't help but say yes. A man produces millions of sperm until he dies. His sexual hormones and reproductive abilities are not affected by age. His sex drive can be arosed as fast as a bulb switch. The blood flow to his phallus is completely made a slave by the soft, rhythmic bounce of the female asscheek. As is the heaving of her chest. With the skin -clinging and torso- hugging outfit that has become the regular garb for women these days, the man has become the victim of visual sexual harassment. What a cruel unjust world. In the office, parks, market, churches and in the virtual worlds of Nairaland, whatsaap and Facebook , a man gets hit with a subtle but wicket revelation of the shape, texture, size and constitution of the very female core- everything is revealed except the colour. Only an insignificant number of men CAN be faithful. 1 Like |

5minsmadness: men are naturally polygamous - as it's seen in all male mammals. it's just that as humans, we are expected to have a high degree of self-control not to surrender to such urges that the western society has stigmatised. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Re: Are Men Naturally Polygamous? by snakebeat: 11:21pm On Jul 07, 2015 |
cococandy:Yeah, from the societal point of view, it isn't sarcastic. I misconstrued ur comment. Cocobutter, I hail o. Personally, I think being polygamous or monogamous is subjective, the words are value laden. We have men living with just one woman & they are faithful, though the male libido is very high compare to that of a female, it still has to do with self control. But most cultures don't permit women to marry more than one man, & we know why. That is why it seems to be a man thing. |

Re: Are Men Naturally Polygamous? by Nobody: 11:55pm On Jul 07, 2015 |
Nonsense. . Polygamous my foot.... You lack self control and you call nature. . Mtcheeeww It's natural, so why ain't all men polygamous? Why ain't all men shamelessly inserting their deek into any VGs? Or can nature be stopped? Seeking for silly reasons to break the vows taken before the lord... I pity men who go about everything in skirt cos they're so shameless, no self respect or worth. Kudos to all men who don't let their 'deeks' control them, you've got class.. 8 Likes 1 Share |

MarvellousGod: don't blow a gasket..... this is why it's called self control. men who don't dip their sausages everywhere have self control but it doesn't mean they don't have the urge to chase fellow women. it's been scientifically proven that all male mammals are polygamous in nature. 2 Likes |

5minsmadness: My comment doesn't show that I didn't read the OP. If you read me well, I wrote for both position stating that the society favour men in this respect more than women. The countries with law against polygamy are few compared to those in support. I have read and still read the OP, no reason to think I didn't. |
