Flogging only instills fear in the child..he/she will still commit the crime nxt time but will make sure they aren't caught like last time

If you really want to help the child you have to communicate with the child and let the child be free with you and through that know whatever led the child to do what he did....(the child will probably not reveal any info to you if he doesn't trust you or he's afraid of you)

You can then tell the child the effect of what he did and why what he did isn't right....you'll be surprised that the child'll make sincere effort to change and you can assist him/her.

Theres nothing wrong in punishment, (kneel down, sweep the class for one week e.t.c) but flogging, espe ially when it comes to this is just wrong.. they are not slaves or soldiers neither are they goats...they are someone's child

If a child truly respects you, you don't have to go this far to show him that his acton was wrong

it is brutal and wicked and if it was my child then God save the teacher from my revenge because no man can.
However, I have been a victim of such brutality.... that was in SS2 almost two decades ago. I got 24 lashes on my bare back (the teacher had me remove my shirt and lay flat on the ground). The only offence I committed was i didn't hear when she called out to me. Yes a woman but big and strong with a grudge against her ex-boss who happened to be my father. My sister screened when she saw my back but I kept it from my dad because he was sick and in retirement.

Most students nowadays don't respect corporal punishment, but immediately they see the cane they obey. If you have not taught in a school before you may never know how stuborn students are. Lets not use these few incidences to ban the use of cane in schools. If you do that, Nigerian children will become like their counterpart in America. In America?
