That is how I did mine...... M.sc Accounting and ICAN while working .... ( My Boss was supportive sha)

It requires a lot of mental balances and family support and Office Support ..... You need the support of your Boss and colleagues (very important) .

Then you need the support of your brain, body and soul I.e you need the support of YOU!!!

I did away with friends who possess no academic/professional values to me same thing with members of ma family who like side talks other than academic/professional contributions.

It requires full concentration and time management because you would discover 24hours ain't enough to make a day ...... I read ICAN on my own so I planned when to carry Study packs and when to read M.sc courses.

Also get yourself aesthetics/Comforts such as car (not compulsory but necessary), laptop, printer and internet .... endeavour to be ready to do much things from the comfort of your home ..... Infact I bought staplers, pins and 3-in-one printer that is Scanner, printer and photocopy all in one machine. .... I do most things from home like assignments and submission.

Nairaland was my only friend then !! .... Today I have reconnect with all but while I was facing the challenges , Na only me and my brain !!

e no easy cuz person go look like Madman .

If your body couldn't support you please don't push yourself to the extent of losing it (kolo-mental) !!! .... ICAN study packs is so voluminous nowadays and fit make person run mad to talk of adding M.sc join am.

If you are considering academic career in Accounting in your future .... kindly go for M.sc in accounting and make a PhD grade which is 60% then proceed to PhD in accounting .... infact there is much job in M.sc accounting cuz Accounting lack lecturers trust me .... Accountants prefer professional career (money) than academics.

If you are considering academic career in Finance then go for M.sc in Finance and with ICAN you can still maintain you strong presence in Accounting....... Me na Accounting I do sha

Only ICAN alone can't lecture ooo because for you to become Assistant Lecturer na M.sc ooo

Proceed to enrol in MBA then you may choose finance option or Governance or whatever option to bridge the gap of Professional life and maintain some presence in Finance too .

M.sc Accounting/PhD accounting will establish you as Academic while ICAN/MBA will establish you as a Professional .... then you can keep switching between the two as the jobs/Contracts call ... more money ma brother.

Am currently doing same, it can be herculean but not sisyphean. Am on a full time job and a full time masters program, my will power has been so strong that I defy every odd in order to attend lectures. Though, at times I feel used and exhausted but the joy of belonging to an intellectual society and the accompanying benefits after completion is worth sacrificing for. Have you read sir Ernest Shackleton' s "spirit of the quest" before? It's a Motivational medicine for the quest you are about to embark on. The God factor has never for once failed too. Am done with first semester, looking forward eagerly for the subsequent ones.

My friend, let me te you the simple truth; it's very possible you cope but expect one to lack because of the other. What I pity most is ur work (from experience).
My advise: combine ur work and one you consider the most important for now and do.
Face the other later with your work. Remember that it's not howfar but how well.

if u have d brains den y not?. but ican no b beans oooo. am ant writing and just d tot of one of my study packs alone kills me let alone reading dem, hardwork, determination, focus, mindset and prayers wud do d work. u quite lucky. u ve a sponser. but won't b cool if ur sponsor is disappointed at ur poor performance. dis days professional courses is quite relevant and more recognised than masters esp if ur BSC is in accounting. wud say u face ICAN first so as to avoid unnecessary references and wud even motivate ur sponsor to help for ur masters.

does high cgpa matter in masters?... really... for example MBA

depends on the kind of masters..we have basically two types..The professional masters and the academic masters..as for MBA it falls under the professional masters..CGPA don't really matter in professional masters, as far as u get a fair or average score in all courses.. besides most schools hardly fail pro masters students, considering the huge sum of money they spend on the programme.. HOWEVER academic masters is a different ball game entirely, u must get a certain minimum cumulative grade known as PhD grade ( 60 %) if you have the intention of pursuing a PhD,off course most people who do academic masters have intention of pursuing a phd..so Yes, CGPA counts for academic masters..

u must have your masters and must even be a registered PhD student before you can apply for assistant lecturing position in most universities..as for lecturing positions, u must be a PhD holder before u can apply (That's FG directive and enforced by the NUC).how can u talk of PhD without masters.. almost impossible...so get your Msc then proceed for ur PhD... ICAN is just a plus...but barely qualifies you for an academic position..

Yeah bro...I ll advise you to go for an MBA since ICAN syllabus pretty much covers everything you are gonna do under MS.c in Accounting.

I'm not the smartest person around but I did it in 2009 - 2011.
ICAN is every six months so there's time to rest after the exams, while the MSC was a part time thing with lectures every Saturday and Sundays.
The only thing you need to consider is cutting down on sleep time. I strongly believe the recommended 8-hour sleep time wont be a reality for you going forwards, you know what you want out of life so go for it.

It's possible o. I know one of my colleagues in Masters(full time) she is also working 8am-5pm and doing her professional course too. Though she was alwys complaining about the stress.

You can do it if your masters is in a management related course such as an MBA. Most of the work in ICAN syllabus are what you will come across in your master study provided you are attempting the final professional stage of ICAN. Good luck!

you are definitely going to get exceptions from a couple of papers, not sure how many though. Send me a pm and i will give you the contact of someone who works at ACCA in Lagos. He should be able to give you details. Also ask if you are going to get one year free subscription fee, i registered last year and got it, don't know if its still on. With ACCA you can also get a BSc degree from Oxford brookes University. As per the cost i will say just go on the ACCA website and check it out or ask the contact am going to give you. I know there's is a center at palmgrove bus stop and another at anthony bus stop both along ikorodu road, (you should find them with a google search). i have friends who used to study at these places
