It s a case of "shared responsibility".

If you work for a company and in the process of doing your "assigned job", you cause harm to others, both YOU and YOUR EMPLOYERS are Liable.
Its that simple.
There is a legal term for it which l cant scoop out of my head right now.
Something like "Vicarious liability" (?)

The idea is to force employers to "properly train their employee" so that they can discharge their duties ....responsibly
Imagine how the situation would have been, if every bank "summarily sacks" every bullion van driver that does this type of thing... and then the law prosecutes the driver.
Do you think this nonsense will not be over within a few years, as the driver knows there is a job-loss and no benefit from such recklessness?
that is the point of that "shared responsibility".

I think its high time there should be a law that makes it an offence if you are around an accident victim and do not make effort to either take the victim to the hosital or render some form of serious assistance and also makes it a crime for hospitals to reject patients with gun shot wounds.Instead while they treat they should inform the police at once to come and investigate.
Sometimes i wonder why little things like this are so hard for our leaders to put in place.

I hail the house o! First time to create a topic on nairaland.
Had lot of experience today, that made me to conclude that we should value every single moment of our life,live happily and love 1 another.
Story goes like this....
Was at firstbank UDU road branch in warri today, when suddenly the bank bullion van and police escort was coming on high speed on a wrong lane. Is a double lane road but the bullion van was on the wrong lane with the police avoiding to go and turn a few meters from the bank. Suddenly a tipper that was coming opposite lost control because of the ruff driving of the bullion van, and the tipper trying to pave way for the bullion van lost control and crush a innocent girl leg, damaging both legs. Youths from nowhere came and start throwing stones into the bank, before police came and start shooting into the air. My question is this, is the bullion van and the police escort above the law? For them to be driving on a wrong lane, the fuel consumption difference assuming the van went through the right would could not have been up to a liter.

that tipper is not an articulated vehicle. Trucks move in the day time even in the mighty us of a. Thank God op witnessed the incident, else some goons pn nairaland will just conclude it was the tipper drivers fault. Bullion vans drive so recklesslly in Nigeria it makes you wonder if we are all bound by the same laws.

Nigerian, I tire for una, you see a dying person and all you could do is snap pictures, cant you help the dying girl, i tell you with quick response, that girl will not die but may lose her both legs, but from what i see, except by miracle that girl will die from shock, something simple first aid can solve.
My advice to all Nigerian youth ensure you receive training in life saving skills, like first aid, you wont know when you will need it. God has used me to save a life and i know the value of first aid skills.
