Should you tell your man about your ex? Relationships are supposed to be based on the truth right? You’re not supposed to have any secrets if you want a great relationship so once again – should you tell your man about your ex? Well, its your decision in the end, but we’ll share our opinion anyway Truth is, there’s no simple answer to this question. Full disclosure and honesty are building blocks of a sound relationship, but what if you’ve dated 21 men in the past? What if you’ve had several abortions for them? What if you cheated on the last one? What if one of them beat and abused you? You may not want to invite the ghosts of your past into your new relationship. If you’re in this place, we completely understand. In our opinion, if whatever secret you’re hiding will have no impact on your relationship or your partner then there may be no need to talk about it – why invite trouble for no reason? However, if your past is having (or may have) an impact on your partner or your relationship, you should definitely tell your partner. For example, if you’re having infertility issues, you may want to disclose to your doctor and partner your medical history including all abortions and/or miscarriages. Of course not all situations are as definite as this. For example, if you made a mistake and cheated telling your former partner, telling your current partner could cause one of these two scenarios – you may raise trust issues in your present relationship with your man constantly wondering if you’re cheating again or you could be helping your man help you by keeping you accountable and helping you cut off situations that may lead you to cheat. Like we said, disclosure in relationships is not an exact science. Have you ever told your partner a secret from your past that ruined your relationship? |
