Spybradd: Permit me take you up on a few points that needs correction, in your wonderful post: 1.) The North does not want East and West to Unite: This is true. The EAST also does not want WEST and NORTH to Unite; Its all about survival. But then, if the East knows this truism, what have they done about it, in all these decades? Are you not aware of what happened when it was simply a case of "The North" and "The South" as in the East and West are considered as just "South". Years back? there were 22posts to be shared in governance. The North took 11 slots for itself and said the "South" should share the rest. Igbos took 10 (ten) out of the 11slots and said Yorubas can only have 1 (one). Do you think that such "brazen impunity and greed" is a basis for UNITY between East and West? 2.) Yorubas are not helping matters: How? We are such a people that we are sensible enough to deal fairly with people, "If they deal fairly with us". Do you remember what happened when Aguiyi Ironsi was Nigeria's Head of State? When an Igbo man was posted to head the only University in Nigeria, this University was built with proceeds of Cocoa from the WEST and it was built in Ibadan, in Yoruba land. Yes, Yoruba built this University otherwise it could have been in the Federal capital (Lagos) or anywhere else. The Igbo Vice Chancellor, out of 33 posts/slots, installed Igbos like him in 30slots! Left just three for the Yoruba indigenes who actually own the University! Is that the type of "Igbo sense of EQUITY" that we are supposed to embrace? Who then is not helping matters here? 3.) The WEST teams-up with the NORTH: You see, the WEST is not made up of daft people rather people who can "analyse and evaluate critically, situations as it develops"! In 2009, the WEST teamed-up with Jonathan and Igbos (EAST), to ensure that he became President when the North wanted to "marginalize" him. In 2011, the WEST teamed up with the EAST once again, to return Jonathan as President, against the wishes of the North. In those SIX YEARS, what did the WEST get in return, from the EAST? Marginalisation of the order that we did not even get under the Northern "born-to-rule" mentality! So, are we to continue to allow ourselves to be "used and dumped" by the selfish Igbos/EAST who have this "grab-all" mentality .... ....or the Northerner who though thinks about itself first, still has some sense of EQUITY? Igbos must be look back and be honest to themselves that they are the architect of their own failures in the Nigeria-Equation. Yorubas are closer to the Igbos by Culture and Religion (Than the Northerners) and we also share borders so it is natural that we will like to integrate more with them than with Northerners. Yorubas have also inter-married more with Igbos than any other tribe in Nigeria while Igbos live in hordes, PEACEFULLY, in Yorubaland, than anywhere else in Nigeria. All these facts point to only one thing: Yorubas are naturally inclined towards the EAST, than the NORTH. Continued below.... Lastpage! 3 Likes |

The problem lies in Igbos who are "naturally Arrogant, Greedy, Selfish, Deceptive and too tribally inclined for common sense". There is nothing wrong in routing for your Tribe but what is wrong is to still route for them, even when you know that is the wrong thing to do on very important matters. Igbos knew Jonathan has ruled for Six years and Nigerians were not smiling! Corruption became a "state policy", the currency was in a downward spiral, impunity and crass mismanagement was the order of the day. Nigeria was gradually fulfilling the American prediction of becoming a "failed state". Under those circumstances, it is common-sense to allow "fresh ideas" to be tried out. Yorubas wanted 'fresh ideas' because Jonathan has tried his best and it was not good enough but simply because he is from the EAST(in their new found "anti-West" alliance!), they blindly routed for him like a herd of sheep who cannot think, analyze and act in the best interest of the herd or nation! Is that the kind of "Team" you want Yorubas to support? Hell No, We dont support mediocrity just because of tribal sentiments. Even one of our own, Obasanjo, could not command his village in the 1999 elections! Of-course Jonathan the elections to better reasoning. The earlier the better, that Igbos realize they need a critical "self examination", where they have to tell themselves the "Home Truth" minus all these "ostrich head in the sand and delusions of grandeur", the better. Yorubas are always ready to play ball, as long as it is a leather ball that bounce.... and not "stone".. as being prescribe! Lastpage! 1 Like |
