ogompaul:Just two weeks ago, i had a conversation with a friend studying Msc Environmental Sciences in Landau, and here is her sad submission as she moaned into my attentive ears, "See, this is a place for retirees who are awaiting heaven as they look for a quiet place to rest in their dying days. This place is very small, and jobs are hard to come by. If you actually borrow money to come here, then i will encourage you to return the money back and gladly wait for another year or look forward to another school in a better location. I tried arguing that the place is in the west but she bellowed with a sharp and pained retort, "see, I'm a student here and you are not someone i can lie to and as if the place is not bad enough, the Profs here are racist ba*tards, the Africans are all bottom of the class and the German at the top and this is not because they are not bright but even for courses we both fail, the Germans are well upgraded and we left that way. Just tell your friend to stay away from this clime" Coincidentally, this friend on whose behalf i made this inquiry for got admission in both University of Koblenz-Landau, Environmental Science and BTU Cottbus, Environmental Resource Management, masters. Then from further inquiry, here is what a friend in same course in BTU had to say about the place. "My brother, this place is cool o, not as bad as people portray it, rents are cheaper and Nigerians plenty for this end no be small, but honestly jobs no dey inside this Cottbus but thank God semester tickets dey cover the whole of Brandenburg and Berlin for 6 months. As i dey yarn you self, my job for Berlin na 450 euros, i dey collect, e no plenty but i dey use am manage. I spend up to 2 hours 30 minutes to and fro the work from Cottbus to Berlin but for summer jobs, things are looking up. I got a job in a car manufacturing firm, and the pay is very good on the very north side of 1k monthly, like 1,800 euros. Its not so easy but trust naija na." Here was his humble conclusion, "My brother, if you have to choose between east or west, brother fly go west o if you get that option, men, I no go lie you, walahi" twinkle1:Don't touch it with a barge-pole, just let it be. I and my ogas in the past never touched it and we are safe, at least, for now. The question obviously is not for you to tick. |

riosworos:I visited the city and the university itself like a month ago, quite lovely and beautiful, its by the baltic sea, borders Wernamude which has an nude beach (lovely? )... It is four hours from Berlin by bus. It is not quite big but attract lots of tourist. Most company i saw there are ship building company as it is by the sea (getting a job there shouldn't be a problem). I spent just 3days there and it was a wonderful experience in all but as they say "visiting a place isn't the same as living there". Others who know about the place or live there can contribute too. |

1freshdude:no go short-change yourself oh. You better call or mail the embassy to clarify (Although the second mail seems the most updated one). There is nothing like choosing dates! takeastep, please I sent you a PM. Joysmart:thank you for unghosting. There is nothing as good as acquiring knowledge and giving back to the same pool from whence such such knowledge was acquired. If you are talking about Summer Semester 2016, then am afraid you don't really have the leisure of time. Arrange those docs ASAP, ensure they meet the certification requirements among other requirements of desired schools and send your applications already using NIPOST. One vital ingredient of securing Admission(s ) is early applications.Best of luck. |
