Rooney categorically said his best position is as a striker. He also put to rest the age-long argument that Rooney played number 9 role in his two most productive seasons in Man Utd shirt (2009/10 and 2011/12 seasons)

This has finally laid this argument to rest.

I choose to follow Ferguson's statements then and other statements from players when memory was still fresh as the events were happening. Even you guys opta and whoscored showed Rooney was one of two strikers with Chicha or Welbeck. Zonal Marking showed Rooney played behind a striker.

This statement from Rooney is coming 4 years after when Van Gaal is looking for a striker and Rooney is trying to convince him there is no need to hunt for another striker.

Notice the first embolden words? That's Rooney admitting if he plays "up there (upfront/9 (Persie's role at Man Utd) " he will get goals which he lacked when Persie came to Man Utd.

Rooney also proves us right with second embolden as being a number 9(UPFRONT) in those two seasons AND BEFORE PERSIE CAME.

The colored also exposes Elampawa who denied Rooney wasn't being jealous of Persie's position because he said he had played in midfield OVER THE YEARS and has made made sacrifices, which everyone knows and Rooney doesn't complain about it. Rooney never had issues with Van Persie. Before SAF signed Van Persie, he consulted with senior players. They were all in consent.

The problem. problem was Rooney wanted to play as one of the two men upfront, particularly the number 10 , his position, behind another striker. Kagawa was the obstacle.

If you go by this Rooney's statement, are you saying Chicharito / Welbeck played the number 10 behind Rooney? Ukwu!!!

It came at the wrong time. SAF said Rooney was his normal number 10, he said this when he signed Young.

I can never accept that Rooney played number 9 while Chicha played number 10. How was that possible. Chicha who isolates himself far far upfront from rest of the team?

Rooney has been playing out of positions OVER THE YEARS and he never complains. Can't you read Rooney's words or what? Rooney played in the DM position for Moyes and in the midfield for Gaal and never complained. He played in many positions for SAF and never complained till Persie came. why?
