très raisonnable, excellent et beau point de
vue!!!!!

That's why I said other criteria that is not 'work experience' will be best used, because no knows the work experience and/or other qualifications candidates have acquired since the SHL test.

Would be unfair to use work experience for a graduate trainee opening. As regards FC, sex, course of study, skills, I believe NLNG knows what best to do. Relevant Skills would have been assessed at the Assessment center.

I would share my clearer viewpoint on this issue but for the ph guys not to have undue advantage, I'll chill.

@bolded, I am only positive about a prospective employer, this is Nigeria where mediocrity and nepotism is the order of the day. But this is also NLNG, a company with a proven track record!!!.....I'm pretty sure top heads in the company will resist pressure from Abuja and other places so as not to compromise the meritocracy of this process. They are recruiting the future of the company, employing the wrong hands by using IM and connection will mean they are willing to throw away all their years of hardwork!!!!......like you said, let's believe in them that they will do what is right.

Regards Technical guys, I am in line with your view too....but remember this is a graduate MANAGEMENT trainee recruitment.

hmmmm...I know someone who just finished NYSC july 2nd, graduated 2014 january, attended this AC...." guess for formality sake"

Attended AC as an observer or as a candidate?
How did the person scale through the WAEC and SHL assessments? What documents were used for accreditation for the AC...Hmmmmm

As a candidate sir.
that's my point. he didnt do all those, his father just hooked him up with a date for the AC, just to fulfil all righteousness. so he is definitely getting a spot.

was making emphasis on chm11's post where he said "top heads in the company will resist pressure.............."

Oh, ok

I'm not saying there can't be man know man and other forms of favoritism in this recruitment but I choose to be optimistic about this entire campaign because that's the best I can do.

Its also possible that your 'candidate' was lying to you.

I know over 20 close pals working with NLNG, some entered as graduate trainee and others as experienced hires. Almost all these persons entered on Merit.
so I choose to be positive.

Naaaa..its possible, I don't expect 100% meritocracy, but for NLNG I expect atleast 85-90%.

Thanks for sharing this info though, its really appreciated and trust me, it will keep some HR people on their toe.

"Results/scores of an Assessment centre should/must be exclusively from the Assessment centre" -MertConsulting

However, recruitment, final selection and/or offer of employment can/will be made by taking into consideration many variables ranging from age, course of study, sex, nationality, state of origin and sometimes even religion, depending on the employer and her preferences.

For NigeriaLNG with her mission statement of helping to build a better Nigeria, you would expect things like -federal Character/Quota system to help encourage unity, meritocracy to ensure sustainable development of the company and her persons, excellence and care to sustain positive public imaging and openness where candidates can ask for information about the process.

Summarily, in our view, the outcome of this assessment centre will definitely be the top priority in making selection before other parameters are utilized. In the end, every candidate who did well (to NLNG standard) at the Assessment centre most likely will have a chance to work with the company. There may be something like a waiting list to accommodate candidates in the nearest future as the company is growing.

We at MertConsulting wish every candidate success at this Recruitment campaign and we look forward to a professional business relationship with you and your company in the nearest future.

Go and Excel!!!

Warm Regards,

Training and Personnel development Team.

MertConsulting..........
Your words are encouraging..
Thanks

I dont know what you stand to gain by lying. I myself know someone (a very close "was my roommate in final year" friend) that just came back from paris having completed his msc in petroleum engr, knows Babs on a "i'm the son of your close padi" basis, that asked Babs, not to give him employment, but to give him a slot at the AC where he can compete on "level ground" with us, and the MDs response was "he can't do it even for his own child"..to show you how hard it is to influence this process unduely.
You are here yarning dust how somebody retired and put NLNG in his will for his kids.
I no dey comment, but this lie vex me, like what do u wanna achieve fam??

Azzin the lie dey so clear. Even if we be secondary school children, the lie na go work for us. But truth be told the guy's way of reasoning is one of the things hindering Nigeria. The issue of IM. May God help us all. My slot is not for sale....beware of 419.

He might be lying. But sometimes you really need to investigate information before you conclude. Some companies have a policy that you must pass through AC before you enter as a Graduate Trainee. It happens in SRD and it for formality sake. I still pray/believe NLNG will not succumb to any external pressure and maintain the integrity which they are known for.

The bolded simply means that there are PwC guys working in NLNG at this moment. They are sent from PwC to NLNG for a specific jon which usually has a time frame, maybe recruitment, maybe auditing etc.

Most companies at this level have external people from other firms that help maintain integrity and standard.

In terms of this NLNG recruitment and the professional relationship between NLNG and PwC, I believe there will be some PwC guys assigned to help check and identify lapses in the process. Just a believe though.

I also had the believe that he was either lying or he had been lied to. We choose not to believe because we actually can't do anything if the info checks out right.

I once was involved in the recruitment process of a very well known multinational company. Wrote first stage test with about 400 persons in attendance, then had a second stage test with about 20 successfuls from the 400. 10 out of the 20 were invited for interviews. At the interview, we saw 5 other guys smiling like sheeps while sitting in one corner forming caucus, so as a social guy, I tried to relate with them and discovered some were already contract staff and some knew someone in the company.

After the interview, we exchanged contacts and thanks to nairaland we kept in touch. 2 weeks later 3 of us out of the 10 received mails that we were successful at the interview and the other 7 received regret mails.

I was in touch with one of those contract guys and he said the company had already taken who they wanted even before putting up any job advert, that they only came to show face at the interview to fulfill all righteousness (they didn't do any tests but just showed up for the interviews)

A month later, that same 5 contract/IM guys went for medicals and resumed for the same opening while the 3 of us that got success mails were kept in the dark.

3 months later, the 3 of us got mails from the company that they regret bla bla bla and that they have other candidates to choose from and all that many stories. This is a very well known multinational.
There are many other stories like this happening in great companies and multinationals in Nigeria.

My childhood neighbor just resumed with NNPC as a graduate entry level even though recruitment is said to be on a hold, he didn't do any test or interview!!!!!

Let's just hope when we all get to wherever we are going to, we will be professional and use TRUE integrity when we can.

NLNG is a great company with high integrity as the facts from past experiences and many people who were successful in the past, especially in 2007 have been vocal about the level of integrity of the recruitment process.

In the end, I believe it will come out favourably for us.

That's the best we can do after giving our best at the AC.
I just gave my experience as an example. I was like 'bloody lie', 'Big fat lie', 'story',...when the guy told me 'the company had already picked who they wanted even before putting up advert'....sincerely, my mind was like a whole multinational with such high class name wouldn't do such.

My eyes were opened when I saw a snapshot of his offer letter!!!...when I got regret mail I just smiled and said to myself "That is the company's loss".

Whatever and however NLNG decides to go with, I believe in the end it will be favourable.

Lol, my brother this is 9ja oh!!!... The rich are not 'sleeping on the bicycle' neither are the well connected queuing for BRT to go to bonny island.

We can only pray the integrity of the company works in our favour and we maintain the right level of integrity also when we get there considering the importance of NLNG to Nigeria. They need the best hands on deck as I see the company playing a major part in the future of this country.

Hopefully BrassLNG and OK-LNG will kick off soon, NLNG staff will most likely be needed on secondment upon start up.
Employing through the back door wouldn't make sense at all because the wrong hands will get the right jobs and in the long run mess things up.
