coogar:Rooney played behind Chicha and Welbeck. It's all well documented by Zonal Marking. Rooney saying he played a lone striker is just a matter of buying the managers mind. If played as a lone striker, where did Chicha play? Number 10? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 8:59pm On Jul 21, 2015 |
coogar:SAF said Rooney was his number 10. Even youtube videos I posted here last here showed Rooney was far behind Chicha and Nani on the pitch. How can a supposed number 9 mostly behind a winger. Rooney started many of the goals he scored. He was mostly running into the box from the deep. Using your logic, we can as well say RVP is running away because Rooney was made captain. |

elampiro:Who is changing? I still stand by my assertions that it is only when Rooney and Chicha played as the two top strikers that Chicha lead, while Rooney lead when he's paired any other striker. Rooney majorly lead our attack during that season and that reflected in the large number of minutes he has over Chicha. Stop bringing in your One-man blog Zonal Marking. What Zonal marking said cannot override what the stats that OPTA and whoscored analyzed through technology. Zonal marking is not a reputable stats site. It is purely a one man blog. How can his opinion on football issues be superior to mine? Rooney have finally put the owner to where he belongs that he doesn't know what he's saying. I'll rather believe what Rooney said as it aligns with what Opta and whoscored said than believe what Zonal marking said. As far as i am concerned, Rooney who played all the matches have confirmed to us that he was the lead striker in that season. Any other thing you say is null and void. It doesn't carry any weight. |

Valencia is unnecessary underrated just because he is not a natural right back. He is one of the reasons we did well in the run in to secure a top four finish. Everyone also rely on him to keep the ball when we are shaking in possession. He is an unsong hero. Anyone able to bench Rafael has to be very good. |

tess1:Chicharito has cumulative of at least 14 full matches. Take that out you will see how deep that number had taken out of Rooney's time. We can begin next to analyze remaining Rooney's matches he played with Welbeck. We can pull out videos, players positioning to and even heat maps to drive our points home. It might be painstaking but at the end it will be clear. How come Zonal Marking categorically has Welbeck ahead of Rooney just as with Chicha? The only time Rooney led was when Chicha and Welbeck were absent and we played 4-5-1. Giggs or Park went to tip of midfield. I am sure even whoscored would have a formation where Welbeck was in front of Rooney. But you say he was behind Rooney. |

If SAF and Rooney sit Elampawa down and tell, explain, describe, pontificate, clarify, brief, enumerate, proclaim, demonstrate and even draw on canvas to him where Rooney played in those 2seasons, he will still default to Zonal Marking. ZM it is! |

elampiro:Tess1, the above is from our very old argument. You write as if Rooney and Chicharito were alternate strikers. You are wrong. Rooney played virtually all matches Chicharito played. Which means Rooney was not the reason Chicha was on the bench. Welbeck and Chicha were the alternate strikers. Rooney kept his position behind them. I have seen commentaries of 2011 stating concern on who was better as a striker between Welbeck and Chicha. As we go along, I will be producing these materials. |

codedguy1:SAF said Rooney was his number 10. I saw those matches and the clips are in youtube for you to watch. There are still live commentaries even from Skysports. I saw a commentary which said Rooney came on to play behind Welbeck. As we progress I will bring materials as much as time permits me. |

11:00PMq BST 15 Oct 2011 .... He came on for Ji-Sung Park and went into the hole behind Welbeck. Within six minutes, he was on the move again, dropping further back into midfield when Javier Hernández replaced Phil Jones.A feeling has frequently been expressed within Old Trafford that Rooney may eventually end up as a midfielder, deploying his passing prowess á la Paul Scholes. He can certainly pick a pass, releasing the ball while off-balance to Welbeck out wide after 76 minutes. ... With Liverpool laying late siege toManchester United’s goal as the Kop bayed for a winner, Rooney produced a piece of defending that centre-halves such as Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, even old-timers like Gary Pallister and Steve Bruce, would have admired. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/england/8829265/Danny-Welbeck-and-Wayne-Rooney-show-why-they-must-both-take-their-place-on-plane-to-Poland.html Rooney played lone striker ko Rooney played lone centre forward ni |

How can any one say SAF played Welbeck behind Rooney? SAF will not be stupid to play Welbeck or Chicha as the playmaker. Even the oputa you guys rely on has this as part of their formation. You can never get Welbeck behind Rooney any where. I wonder if you guys are United fans. I am tired to night. Tomorrow night I will produce matches review where ZM gave formation and analysis of matches. By weekend, I should have the time for further details as clips and match day commentaries.

i nor dey feel these young guys...see as blackett they loose ball anyhow...only lingard and pereirra are good in my book |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Nobody: 5:44am On Jul 22, 2015 |
Blackett is just too sloppy, he should proceed on loan as a matter of urgency, Smalling's weakness is his slow decision making, our defen is still shaky, we need a boss in the CB position. Midfield is good and attack is manageable when playing a 4 3 3. That's my little assessment of our 2nd half performance against SJ |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 6:46am On Jul 22, 2015 |
Maybe Depay n other wingers'll score the goals. We might not need a striker saddled with scoring the goals. That responsibility could be shared |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chrisley024(m): 7:18am On Jul 22, 2015 |
LvG should forget his experiment with Blind in the defence and get Otamendi. Meanwhile, Mata 1 goal 1 assist, our striker yet to.... God help us. Also, the striker saga roles on. "I don't know if I want to buy a striker. I read in the media that I was, but I mean something else." --LvG You better be joking. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 7:38am On Jul 22, 2015 |
This Rooney doesn't look like he's ready to score 20+ per season. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by SailorXY: 7:41am On Jul 22, 2015 |
una still think say Blackett na defender? mtchew. he should not be in the first team yet @ all. someone aspiring to break into a team & having such lackadaisical approach even in do or die situations, how will he then play if he becomes a star tomorrow? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by SailorXY: 7:55am On Jul 22, 2015 |
Leyqute:no mind him, he's on a long thing. @ least there won't be much room for complaints if he fails in preseason & another forward is brought in to lead the line for the season. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chrisley024(m): 7:57am On Jul 22, 2015 |
SailorXY:LVG should be stupid to include him in this season's squad. None of those kids should be seen around our defence and midfield except Pereira. They cost us points last season. The experiment should only be with those playing in attack. |

Rooney back and forth still........ SMH! |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 9:20am On Jul 22, 2015 |
chrisley024:Yes, we can still afford to develop youngsters in the midfield or attacking areas. The defense however is full of rookies and we need an established leader. Even when in possession, they hesitate before making some easy passes which then puts pressure on them. Jones is notorious for this, Smalling too sometimes. Blacket has been afflicted with the JohnnyE virus. He should be sent back to the reserves or better still shipped out before he infects others. The guy doesn't look like he wants to play football, too lackadaisical and nonchalant |

SailorXY:Don't mind the yeye guy. He should go and learn how to trap the ball when in motion, he's very poor in that department. Wait sef. Elampiro, what skills does Rooney have to merit him the position of a starting 9 for Utd? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by JayKayMaybachz(m): 9:28am On Jul 22, 2015 |
We are getting a striker jooor Depay was sharper than him in the attack nii |

Leyqute:I thought they said he scored 34 goals as a number 9 in just two times they said he was given the opportunity. Ukwu!!! Ok this is the way I see it. First big players hardly do well in preseason. Most times they are out of shape. Last season Iheanacho outshone all city players in preseason while the big guns were looking out of shape. Rooney is always a slow starter. The only preseason he appeared to have done very well was last year when he was a beast and the player of the tournament where we played big teams from Spain and Italy. I think that performance was influenced by the fact that he just returned from world cup, and he got a personal fitness coach that period, he never rested before the world cup. In 2011/12 preseason, he was not near our best performers. But he went into the season to score 34 goals. What is important now is keeping fit, sharpening up, blending while avoiding injuries. Haven said that, I think we will need someone. I need someone who can involve well in build up play, fast and a dribbler. I pick Pedro over any hyena. This is in case... I don't want a repeat of last season when our hyenas were clipped. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 9:52am On Jul 22, 2015 |
I wasn't talking about preseason, Elamps. Moreover, his performances yesterday n last week have little difference to how he played last season. (Don't argue this point) What does he have to be a starting 9 for Man Utd? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 9:55am On Jul 22, 2015 |
Leyqute:May be you should ask those who said he played 9 twice for us before and scored 34 goals. However, I know he has been playing 9 for England recently and has been doing very well and scoring. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 10:00am On Jul 22, 2015 |
9 for United these days is hard. It was not coincidence that all our 9s last season fell short. Falcao, RVP, Rooney, Wilson. Chicha also played 9 Before he went on loan. This is why I will prefer a player who can move with the ball from the deep and do damage. Players like Suarez are not available, so I pick someone who plays like Sanchez, that is Pedro. A fluid three, instead of a point man who might be clipped. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 10:13am On Jul 22, 2015 |
elampiro:yes, zonal marking knows rooney's position more than rooney, ain't it? elampiro:SAF never said rooney was his number 10 in 11/12 season, stop lying! the other time, rooney clearly stated that he was upset he wasn't played upfront in 12/13 alongside van persie. rooney said he wasn't fighting to play as a lone striker but as one of the 2 lead strikers in a 4-4-2 formation..........similar to what he did in 11/12 season. there's no way rooney would produce 4 OPTA-standard assists in a number-10 position. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by bigkesh(m): 10:15am On Jul 22, 2015 |
You guys here don't like Rooney? How can u not like him? Absolute baller Should have sold him to Chelsea 2years ago,Ya all will be wanting him back right now.... How can you hate him? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 10:32am On Jul 22, 2015 |
bigkesh:rooney is shyte! he scored 34 goals when he was 24-26. he's now 30! we can as well bring van nistelrooy back to old trafford cos he once scored 44 goals in one season. the position isn't the issue, it's the fact that rooney has massively deteriorated. even if LVG instructs him never to leave the opponent's box in a game, he cannot achieve that height again. his pace is gone, his goal sense is gone and his positioning is awful! |
