A player who is performing badly should be mouth washesd, Yes. But many are blowing Rooneys poor form last season out of proportion. I can only think of 2 united players who performed without blemish last season, those two are Anders Herrera and David de Gea, the rest had their not so good moment. This is 433... Our front 3 can afford to be very fluid, unlike 4231 or 442

Who do this players play with compared to who rooney play with? Messi plays with Iniesta, Xavi, Suarez, Neymar. Alves. CR7 plays with: Bale, James, Luka, Toni, Ramos. Rooney plays with a displaced 2 in valencia, jones, young, Herrera, Mata, Januzaj and the likes. Even Zlatans PSG has a better squad compared to rooney.

If you don't give him what your reputation says about you he drops you without batting an eyelid.

At least he gave chances for the ones you listed above to prove themselves. People like Nani weren't given any shot at all.

It's obvious to everyone his struggles have been largely due to off field reasons and adaptation...

Besides, even though I didn't watch the Copa America, the general consensus seems to be that he did well...

So yes we can recoup every bit of what we paid

I'm sorry for this team and especially LvG(cos of the sack he'll receive) if we depend on a player that goes missing for 3-4 games only to deceive his fans into singing his praise by scoring a fantastic goal.

LvG knows we lack a 20+ goal striker cos he said so last season.

Zlatan is a natural 9, Rooney is NOT. Zlatan is 33 and still remains psg point man, Rooney is 29 and you're Dissing him. The two seasons Rooney have hit 20+ goals are the two seasons he started and finished as top 9, Zlatan has played as the point man all his career So why do you doubt he can't replicate if he plays 9 this coming season?

Rooney can play anywhere for all I care. He should address his poor ball control, weak decision making (esp around 18 yard box) among others. I am hopeful he delivers but what he's played in the past two seasons leaves much room for doubt.

Don't get me wrong, I want him to succeed. Even if he doesn't score 20+ goals a season, he should be less predictable, play smarter football and contribute immensely to creating goal scoring opportunities, not lazy possession hoarding. The guy takes 300k home every week for crying out loud.

Well, i'm no economist but I guess PSG will want to apply depreciation theory. The player they wanted last year isn't the same as the one we have right now.

But I am not arguing with you on the possibility of his price tag being recouped.
I sense that he may have agreed personal terms but United may be playing hadball with the fee, never mind what the papers are saying.

ok. the reason I'm opposed to di Maria's sale is simple - we don't have a better player who'll force chances. tiki-taka, yes but no be wetin we wan chop. this is a league where you must have good pace in the team & the other pacy lads we have are Januzaj, Young & Depay. Januzaj is no starter & Depay may need some time to settle in EPL like last season di Maria while a team chasing EPL & UCL glory CANNOT rely on Young (I know his form has improved alongside Fellaini but this is the fact, they can't be more than back ups if we are serious).

having said that, I don't think anyone is on di Maria's case apart from click-per-pay journalists. di Maria rejoins the squad on Saturday with Rojo & Hernandez so let's see how it goes.

Yeah you're right. I personally think Di Maria remaining in the Man Utd team this season will bring about better performance from him as he already now knows what to expect from the league and also being that he employs a fast and forceful direct play pattern with a blend of enticing deliveries into the box.
