Corruption of the Judicial system in Ikorodu by Land Speculators to the detriment of the Poor masses

I will like to use this opportunity to bring to the notice of the Lagos State Government and the entire Judicial system within the state of the ongoing corruption of the Judicial system and the subversion of justice within Ikorodu Local Government Area.

It is a known fact within the local government that the Land Speculators popularly known as ”Omo onile” are fond of taking cases to court for owners of lands in residential areas to come and repurchase the land because they formerly paid to their fathers or Grandfathers so it is their turn to benefit from the purchase of such lands.

The latest one going on in Ikorodu is the Aga (Gbasemo Area) which covers a wide expanse of land and also an old residential area. These particular set of Omo Onile’s have gone to court to request that the land in the entire Area must be repurchased and people must pay them because the land was bought from their fathers.

They got this strange judgement that residents should pay a sum of N450, 000 each on a plot of land .The reason why they get these kind of judgement all the time is that there is huge CORRUPTION WITHIN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM in Ikorodu. These judgements are against the laws of contract and sales.

We have so many people in these area some of who are retired civil servants, serving civil servants and first class state citizens like Justice K.O Alogba , Honourable Lanre Balogun and the likes.

Now the question is
• How will a Judge issue this kind of judgement on people who purchased lands legally?

• Where in the law of contracts and sales does it say lands should be repurchased from the children of the owners?

• This is now the culture in Ikorodu, what is the justice commission doing about this?

• What protection is Government giving to the poor masses who voted to bring them to power?

• This trend has been going on and the Government of Lagos State has been quiet on this, does this mean this will be the way to go for everyone in the state?

• How will the retired public servants be able to pay this money?

• This will definitely lead to harassment, how will the people be protected from this land speculators?

Conclusively, I call on the Governor of Lagos State to urgently look into this matter as part of what APC promised us in Lagos State is protection and not oppression and injustice.

This is wrong.

The parties to the contract include the assigns and heirs so what's this about?

You cannot BUY family land. You only purchase a lease and even then you must be careful that those selling have the family authority to do so

the menance of omo onile is overbearing, coupled with the conivance of the justice or should i say injustice system in this country. the judiciary is supposed to be strongest link in the value chain of governance but unfortunately, its the weakest.

This is a vast piece of land the family sold, the children are not even claiming its illegally sold they just want to get money because the fathers are dead.THIS is wrong on all fronts.

The reason that Lagos is a mess when it comes to how houses are built and aligned is Government interference in sales of land. Land belongs to the families. In other states, especially the SS/SE, we buy land in hectares and as we buy them from communal owners. So, a house can sit in hectares with enough space for a pool, generator house, lawn tennis court, garden etc. In Lagos, people live like pigs and share buildings in the name of twin duplexes and terrace houses.

Absolute madness in this town.

[size=18pt]Lagos is an hub of touts legally extorting money. From the motor parks Agbero down to Omo-onile. Its really getting to much for a Mega-city like Lagos. I do know there re touts in other states too but that of Lagos is an idustry that is legally supported by the government. Toutism is a big business in Lagos. They re even more recognized than an average citizen.
