Obama: . . . the idea that they [gay] should be treated differently or abused because of whom they love is wrong. Full stop.

Kenyatta: . . . the fact is that this issue is not one that is foremost in the mind of Kenyans, and that is the fact.

Obama 0 - Kenyatta 1

So if a man decides to love and marry his sister, would you say because they aren't harming anyone the man is right?

Africans need to shun Colonial mentality which has eaten so deep into our psyches like a computer virus. Why should Kenyans be proud of their president for his command of English. Is he an English person? How many British Prime Ministers have any command of any African language and does that make their people ashamed.
That is not a trivial issue it is so deep in the psychology of the colonized they do not know it is there just like a Malware. Speaking English is ABSOLUTELY IRRELEVANT to the lives of ordinary Africans and those who harbour such thoughts need to do some self examination. I will ask a further question how many such people can write 2 pages in THEIR OWN language or EVEN TRANSLATE CLEARLY IN THEIR OWN LANGUAGE WHAT KENYATTA SAID. Naturally you will find such people following Jesus or Mohammed to Mecca or Jerusalem.
Wake up! The Japanese,The Germans ,the Koreans and the ENglish do not pride themselves on speaking anyone's language. Let us take pride in who we are and stop trying to be like the coconut ;black on the outside and white inside.

God bless you for this contribution. You see, this is something that really, we should start to get rid of. Kenyatta was speaking a non African language 'eloquently'. That has very little, if any relevance to his impact on the affairs of his people.

I do not have a problem with English and its ownership.I have a problem with those who insist everyone MUST speak it and those who don't are deficient. What is Panafrican about anything I said? Do you understand the meaning of the term? Somehow I doubt it.

English is not the language of the world. It is the most widely spoken language yes but those who speak it proficiently apart from native speakers are a small number most so called speakers are able to communicate at a basic level. In this instance we are speaking of diplomacy and state functions and in that regard it is not the language imposed on significant leaders . How many G7 leaders speak English in public when performing their offiicial functions. How many are praised for having a GOOD accent as was the subject of what I wrote or conversely criticized for having a BAD accent.

The point is the fact that the Kenyan president speaks "Good English" is no Yardstick for comparing him or his ideas to any other leader that does not.
All that prattle of English ownership is totally irrelevant to that point. Anyone can learn English but Heads of states should not be judged by English and those who do have colonized minds

Brilliant!

traditional African values of which of the thousands of tribes in Africa? Do you know that there are tribes in Africa that pioneer homosexuality? It is your type that say it is not African culture for girls to wear skimpy clothing meanwhile the bush men if southern african swahili tribes pioneered skinny clothing the the G-strings, I can go on forever..stop being ignorant.

Oya let's not keep going on with big words. Give me an African or in short a nigerian tribe that pioneers homosexuality.

The extent your shaky brain has taken you keeps making you compare unrelated things.
There us always a difference between what is normally bad and what is outrightly unheard of.

Our last 3 presidents, Yar Adua, GEJ and now GMB are all bad when it comes to speaking with confidence and also they have bad accents.

BAD ACCENT? is the nigerian accent a bad accent?
Re: How Kenyan President Wisely Shut Down Obama On Gay Issue(video) by Nobody: 5:11pm On Jul 26, 2015
All those bashing Obama should first be informed, The two presidents were asked a question by a nosy international reporter, if it wasn't for that question he wouldn't have touched on the issue. He didn't come to Kenya to advocate for gay rights, in fact he hasn't spoken about the issue since then. We love Obama and we welcome him, he has brought many goodies and investments to Kenya.

You shouldn't even bother trying to inform them. Some of these commenters are looking for any excuse to claim Kenya/Nigeria and their respective presidents are better than the USA/Obama because admitting the truth, that both Kenya and Nigeria have serious infrastructure/corruption/etc. issues, is too much to admit in an open and honest conversation.

Obama answered to show America's position and Uhuru did the same, both did what was best to further their country's agenda and btw Kenyans going to America will now have a 5 year Visa renewal policy instead of the usual 3 months, so you can imagine how grateful we are of the visit in spite of this misinformed 'gay rights campaign' story everyone in Africa seems to believe.

You assert authoritatively and invariably you are wrong. Formal education can take place in any language. It is a question of policies. The coloniization is complete in Africa because we were convinced to give up our religion and lost sense of identity. We were convinced that we had nothing of value and were inferior.
You will find that in India and the Arab world which were also colonized they did not adapt the colonialists gods and they also retained their own languages and so most people in those countries were literate in both languages
India has more languages than Nigeria and used English for many years but later some states took the decision to introduce education in primary in the mother tongue, there are examples of recent introduction of the same policy in New Zealand with great success to reverse the extinction of the Maori language so it is not true thatFormal education is not possible without a common language. Even our Neighbour Cameroon have Anglophone Cameroon where they teach in English and so we can teach in primary schools in Yoruba English and Igbo we are talking populations over 20 million. In Belgiium the have more than one language and in Flanders
Nice! Now you're talking. It's a gradual process. Not a very major issue at the moment when the politicians busy themselves with stashing away national cake in Swiss bank accounts. When the politicians see education as something more important than ethnicity and religion and federal character and private jets, then we can talk. But for now, let's deal with issues that are hindering normal daily living. Adios.

[quote author=Demmocrats post=36279695]I give the Kenyan president a standing ovation I even take a bow.

My previous comment with pictures was reply to Mr Obama after watching his comments

The way the Kenyan president said it "that there are more important than that"

"That both countries share some things in common such as democracy, entrepreneurship spirit and so on but when it comes to culture they don't share the same"

"That he see no reason why someone will be forcing another into acts there culture forbids"

"That there are more important problems that Kenyans suffer than what his saying"

It only takes a great leader to resist evil, that man that is the Kenyan President is a great man

Mr Obama visit to eastern Africa is to advertise gay na thunder with levels go settle that matter

One accent sounding rough to your earing doesn't necesarry make it the "wrong accent." I met this black american guy somewhere and as we were conversing in English lingo, we both had some glitches in communication. For me, he was too fast. To him, might not speak it the way he understands. Now tell me who has the better accent. I have never travelled to a western country.. Have my nigerian accent intact, no forming foreign accent.

I don't get your point? What's wrong with beating gays? If in the process anyone dies its sad and unfortunate, I am sure no one intended taking their life initially.raping gays, haven't heard about that, why would u do that anyway.in any case when a crowd descends on a gay person, at what point do they rape a gay in the glare of the world? If u ask me, its just stories

Not Really with the bold, what i see is that Obama is trying to purge himself out with excuses to convince African about right of some minorities even though a law abiding citizen.

What we Fellow African should understand and to pity Obama here is; he had no say in the Gay Law there are people who are powerful than he, so he had to bent to there wave

Why should homosexuals have rights? Homosexuality is a behaviour that people believe is wrong. HIV is a huge problem here in the UK and US among homosexual men. HIV and AIDS is growing fast amongst that group of people. That is a fact. If homosexual behaviours was good and proper then why are homosexuals, lesbians etc addiction to hard drugs unacceptably high as well as the suicide rate. Why are they also so much more promiscuous than heterosexuals engaging in sexually deviant practices that are extremely dangerous.

Why when they march the streets do they have to parade sexually explicit images and engage in sex publically. Why should this be acceptable?

This whole homosexual agenda has nothing to do with rights but a want to behave promiscuously without condemnation

Full stop
