Well, typical of a man determined to pursue his dreams, he was able to surmount the usual challenges that ordinarily would hinder a young lawyer like him from making headway. On how he overcame one of such challenges, this is what Akin had to say: "I have an office in my house, and that's where I work from".

While some look forward to it with great excitement, for others, it is with some trepidation . But irrespective of which group you fall into, you know it's a day you would most likely have to face as a new wig. It's your first appearance in court. In a light and humorous tone, this particular post gives new wigs some tips they may find handy as they prepare to make their first appearance in court.

6) Nigerian young lawyers- Who moved our brief ?

How many of us as young lawyers have come to accept the reality that things have really fallen apart and the center can no longer hold? Great stuff. After 10 years at the bar, half of which was spent in hard core practice,I don't see law any differently from any other professional calling. You have to be a lifetime learner. Unfortunately, the law school curriculum to me is outdated and not in tandem with what is obtainable in other countries.
the practice of law has gone beyond seeking court appearances and advocacy and to survive , a young lawyer should seek to carve out a niche for himself after getting grounded properly. Networking and technology and ability to see beyond the narrow confines of law is necessary. We are not called learned for nothing

The three most important things to any lawyer are clients, briefs and fees.

After law school, you would discover that whether you are a Lawyer, a carpenter or a Professor, you would pay the same price for a piece of meat in the market. Therefore, owo ni koko.

Having said this, you need to determine early enough the kind of clients you want to attract and the kind of practice you want to engage in.

The truth is that before, litigation was the only way to become an SAN, but today, more commercial lawyers are making silk than even hardcore litigation lawyers. For instance, Funke Aboyade and Bimbo Akeredolu (The AG of Ogun state that speaks English, French, German and Spanish).

Also, it is very important to socialize. Be honest, friendly and reliable and you won't be short of clients.
