People should see this from another angle. What if the little girl's mom is dead and the father has been bathing her since she was a child. I am talkin from experience. My dad bathed me at least every weekend til I was 11 and everytime I was ill and came back from school,he bathed me even till I was 15. He is late now,God bless his soul. If not,if I am ill today,i am sure he would still offer to bath me.

e.g
6 months ----- hold her feeding bottle
2 yrs ----- talk
3yrs ------ sitting on a potty or toilet ( no daiper ) etc
10yr ------- make bed, wash undies and socks etc.

So 12yrs also has its own developmental expectations which include puberty changes and also bathing yourself.

If a child doesn't meet some developmental expectations, the child may be abnormal or spoiled. If the child is spoiled, as a parent you are not doing any justice to that childs development. She may find it hard to cope in some life situations.

I remember at a University,I had a roommate who came from a similar background. Her father used to bath her, cook for her etc. When she got to University she could not cope. She would take all her menstrual soiled underwear and discard it and buy new ones. She got married and she didnt stay long in her marriage, the husband could not cope with her dirtiness.

Her parents didn't do her any justice. A girl of 12 yrs is suppose to have even started learning how to cook.

Teach them while they are young, so that when they grow old they will not deviate.


These girls who have this type of upbringing are some of the girls that man complain about in marriage. Dirtiness, unable to cook etc.

Well you cannot compare the development rate of a female with that of a male. Females blossom earlier than males and hence need their privacy earlier. My younger brother still walked naked around the house at 15.

Hello, nice Idea but some kids are late bloomers. That is to say she is not even close puberty. Besides the dad may have been bathing her and her sibs either together or singly for years. Stopping won't be a bad Idea but I won't be fast in judging the man who may be Innocent!

any sensible person who knows the age of his children will know that the age of 9 is when you leave all those types of things to the mother. age 9 is even giving too much. What is the girl's mother doing? and for that matter when will he recognize that she is old enough to bath herself?

Being irresponsible is when you are letting a girl in her puberty to be handled by a man.

For clarity purposes, a girl in her puberty stage experiences a lot of changes including hormonal changes which lead to ( breast development, growth of pubic hair and also sexual urges etc)
If you let a girl in her puberty be handled by a man, ( even if it is the biological father) that is irresponsible.

She will want to experiment or she will let the father experiment.

What are you talking about? What does wanting to experiment have to do with anything? Are you saying that a female child of 12, wouldn't want to experiment if she was bathed by her mother? So if the child is incapacitated and only the dad was available to bathe her, are you saying, she'd have to go without a bath?

It might be irresponsible parenting(because we are supposed to teach our kids how to cater for themselves) but it doesn't mean there's a sexual undertone to it, nor does it mean the man is irresponsible, you sound like you don't trust every man around little girls.

From age 4, when the girl has started talking frequently, she shouldn't be bathed by daddy, uncle or a male. Its just inappropriate for the dad to be washing her private part or something. As for the 12year old, that's just sickening.

We had a lot of 9year olds in my boarding school. By 12, they were in SS1. Can't imagine an SS1 senior being bathed by her dad.

@ 12, she should be yelling, "dad don't come in my room yet, am not fully clothed"! Not "daddy, come and bath me". Lol

Experts will tell you that as a mother you should even stop getting dressed with your 4 year old son in the same room. Somethings are just inappropriate

Is she normal? ....as in body development?....as in mentally normal? ...can she really bathe herself? These we don't know but if such be the case then the father is doing the right thing. I doubt the mother is around ...or if she is she is very irresponsinle or some kind of addct.....and most likely the father raised the child almost from birth. I believe the father would stop when the child starts becoming a young lady.

Both mother and father are wrong. 12 Yrs old she should be bathing herself. Even 12 yr old boy. When I hit 10 self I told my mom and dad to leave...haba....even at 10 I knew my body was changing and getting self aware.
