LagosNIV:Folks should learn from the bolded. V.Os understand that we all can't have perfect GRE scores, GPAs, etc. Some students will graduate with a GPA greater than 3.5 and some lesser. Some will even graduate with a GPA less than 3.0. So, there is nothing wrong in saying that you did not meet the admission requirements of those top schools. Not all of us can get into Stanford, Yale, Harvard, etc. It's that simple. |

DARKLIGHT:Yea right. I myself I still bargain sometimes, when it is necessary though because it doesn't really work all the time especially for small purchases. Some people have gotten used to the fixed price system of goods here that they barely bargain. One time I was buying a foam + box spring for my room as my air bed had finally given in (the bed try jare) and the whole unit was for sale at $139.99. I could afford it but decided to test the waters a little bit to see how it goes. I tried this strategy: I simply offered the guy an amount and told him I that I found somewhere else willing to sell the whole unit to me at that price - $99 and was just on my way to the store but decided to check out his store first because it is closer to my house. And that worked like magic! The guy didn't even hesitate to ring up in $99 in the register, plus home delivery which I bargained down to $20 from the regular store charge of $45, and I smiled all the way home feeling like Floyd Mayweather on his victory night over Manny Pacquiao. ![]() Bargaining is advisable, especially if you are buying stuffs in bulk. Even at Walmart or Target. If you are buying a couple of 40-inch HD smart TVs at $350 each, you could simply ask for the store manager and ask for a discount on your bulk buying. Your bargaining strategy puts the seller in that position where they don't want to lose you to a competitor after they've calculated all that the sales total comes out to be and they would be willing to compromise a little bit. |
