Honestly, based on our culture and belief... its very wrong.

The essence of the dowry on a lady is to more or less show proof that the groom is capable of taking care of his bride.

I think people that ask this question don't know that in most parts of Nigeria and even those with the 'high' bride price are very few and mostly depends on the family - sometimes the bride's father might be late and whoever is standing in as her father wants a quick buck or the father doesn't like his daughter - so, the brideprice is usually a token. It is the list that drains money not the 'price' for the bride.
Before any one starts hyperventilating, refer to the most in my post.

So, yes a bride can help out with some things on the list but should leave out the price because it is a symbolic traditional gesture.

I don't think paying the bride price all alone shows dat u can take care of her,na when u na don marry,people'll judge whether she's been well taking care of by how she depreciates or appreciates,health and body wise
