Hello
How are you doing ? Please I will like to ask a question please regarding an American passport .
A friend of mine lost his passport last year and he wants to get a new one ..
What are the steps and requirements involve .
He is in Nigeria as we speak .
Thanks and God bless

Hello goryorhal,

A quick reminder that this thread is for non-immigrant visa questions, but since you asked:

He'll need to make an appointment either in Abuja or Lagos.
Abuja: https://evisaforms.state.gov/acs/default.asp?postcode=ABU&appcode=1
Lagos: https://evisaforms.state.gov/acs/default.asp?postcode=LGS&appcode=1

It takes approximately two weeks to receive a new passport once the application is approved. Consulates/Embassies do not offer expedited passport services. He can contact AbujaACS@state.gov or LagosACS@state.gov if an emergency passport is required.

The schedule for passport fees can be found at: http://travel.state.gov/passport/fees/fees_837.html

Fees may be paid in U.S. Dollars or the equivalent in Nigerian Naira please note that the exchange rate may vary. No refunds will be issued for denied applications and applicants are responsible for confirming their own eligibility.

He can read more here: http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/acs_abuja_passports.html

Hello ifyaocc,

We don't coach people on how to get a visa. The only thing you can do is apply again and be honest during all stages of the application process. The interviewing officer will decide, based on United States immigration policy, whether you qualify.

Hello an thanks for your help so far.
Please my question is regarding the last "commandment" on eligibility for B1/B2 visa renewal via dropbox:
'The applicant has never been arrested nor had an encounter with law enforcement, customs, or immigration officials in the United States.'

Does extended CBP questioning at POE constitute an encounter with customs officials?

Would that disqualify an applicant from using dropbox for renewal?

Thanks!

Hello Underdogg,

Extended questioning would not, but if you're still unsure and you meet all the other requirements, go ahead and submit via dropbox and we will call you in for an interview if we see anything that needs to be discussed in person.

Same situation. How did yours happen?

Pls email me infoseeker92@gmail.com

Hello iContribute,

There are no appeals in this process. You can reapply but if you were told you had a temporary or permanent ban from entering the United States, this might not be a good use of your resources.

ic3tipz,

We're sorry that you had problems scheduling the interview, but that sheet really outlines the instructions pretty clearly - I am not sure what more we can say. Go to the website listed on the document, review it carefully, and reschedule the children's interview. Make sure that you have filled out the application for each person who will be attending the interview if you haven't done so already.

G.Day VO,

Please I need some direction and advice. I just received my student visa today but the annotation and school is different from that which I intend to attend. The genesis is that I had filled my DS-160 with this school but later got a better offer from another school. During my interview I went in with the i20 of the school I intend to attend and informed the VO that it is a different i20. He said "it's not a problem". But now it's still the former school on my visa. And I have found out that it wouldn't be advisable to still travel with the visa.
The issue is that I have informed that school that I would not be attending anymore. And the new school which I intend to attend would start on the 17th. I had intended to travel tomorrow the 11th.
Please advice

Hi Visa Officer,

Please what documents are required for a F2 visa interview? The F1 applicant enrolled in school since August 2014 and has not missed any semester.

The F2 applicant is the spouse.

Thank you.

Thank you.

The spouse will need their own I-20 and the SEVIS fee for the student should be active. Other than that, having a photocopy of the student's visa wouldn't hurt to have.

Sorry - we don't give advice on specific issues as a matter of policy. If you believe you are qualified then you can apply and discuss the issue with a VO during your interview.

Hello VO,

I am a Nigerian and medical house officer in ghana (equivalent to housemanship in Nigeria). And I was refused a b1/b2 visa in ghana, I got the impression that I needed to apply from my country of residence. How soon can I re-apply in Lagos or abuja? Do I need to wait for 90 days? I will like to travel at the end of august for pleasure. Can I get an expedited interview? Is there someone I can contact about this? Thanks

You should start by visiting http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/welcome.html.

As far as the name on the passport goes - use whatever the legal names are.

Hello missy99,

We do not grant expedited interviews for tourism purposes, so you will need to reapply in the regular process. We recommend 90 days waiting because it is unlikely anything in your circumstances will have changed very much if you wait less than this. However, you are welcome to reapply whenever is convenient for you.

Hello coolladdy,

We've said it many, many times before and we'll say again: we do not give you odds on the likelihood of getting a visa. If you believe you are qualified, feel free to apply and your application will be considered fairly.

Hello Elivsabo,

A consular officer will not ask why you were refused a visa to the United States; we can read about your prior interviews through our system... was there another question?

Hello Sir. Thank you so much for what you 've done in this forum and specifically in this thread. I would like to have one question:

I am currently applying to be trainee in the U.S in hospitality. I have got accepted by a resort in California and on my way to wait for DS2019 document to arrive from an U.S sponsor company. I hope to bring my husband on a J2 visa. However, several people went on J1 visa before said it is best to go separately, and married candicates on J1 visa often are denied by the U.S consulate or embassy. Is it true that married people are harder to go in J1 visa than in other visa category, sir? What advice do you have for us to be both able to pass the interview and go to the States? I have been to the U.S on B1/B2 visa and other countries, but my husband havent travelled anywhere yet.

Thank you so much! And I look forward to hearing from you.

Susan
