finished at Glasgow university earlier this year. Yes there are cheaper accommodation around city centre. But the key to securing any is to resume early. By ending of August, such accommodation must have been filled by the early birds.

I think off campus is usually cheaper. I was able ro secure a place using online forums like righmove, zoopla and co..a friend helped me inspect before i made my deposit. I didnt want to wait till Sept cus places go fast.

Off campus is always cheaper, school accommodation is over priced.

Use roomate/roomshare or gumtree to search for private accommodation in your area.

If that includes ALL the bills and the room is a double bedroom to share with 2 or 3 people then good.

..but if that is single bedroom with some bills shared by more than 3 people then its not a good deal

Ok but wait until you see the place and the distant because 10 to 15 mins walk thing is just marketing thing, not always true and also depend on how fast you can walk. If you have somebody to check it out for you then great else...don't be in a rush to pay yet.

Lol! I feel u..I never trust oyibo mans just a few minutes walk...they may say its just 5 minutes and then when u get there you will so trek. Also i think they r used to trekking more than we are. i personally didnt have much look with gumtree n co maybe cus i was lookinh for something suitable for my family. Yes and there is a reason for that.....in winter it helps you to beat cold, try it and see, rather than jumping into bus or taxi get your winter jacket, cloves and hat and trek 10-15 mins to school and see the benefit.

Accomodation is cheap ish in Glasgow compared to down South, are you going to Caledonia or Strathchlyde Uni and if you have got a private let what is the address and post code I could tell you how far it is from the school. £100 per week excluding bills (electricity, gas, wifi) is not that bad but you could get something cheaper if you rent a bit further away from the city centre. Try glasgow gumtree but dont hand over your money until you see the property. Hope this helps ...

Though I don't know what my plans after the masters degree are right now, I am not interested in a restrictive scholarship. Just the thought of it was making me feel like I had entered a super binding agreement and I was not comfortable with it.

Yes I did. It is not a full scholarship but it has no restriction whatsoever. My only obligation is to act in an ambassadorial capacity once in a while. And I am more than comfortable with that.

Finally got my CAS today and booked my appointment today without hassle and got my interview date for next tomorrow in abuja. I wonder who posted here that abuja has entered peak period and interview dates are far, nothing like that as I saw free periods from 12th august upwards.

Thank you igwejay67; I am going to Strathclyde, I had taken a look at some of the private accommodation online but I am afraid to commit to them, because I had not physically examine them since I am not yet in Glasgow. Moreover I am som1 that don't like stress and wouldn't want to live at non treakeble distance from the uni!

Exeter ... But have sorted it now.. they accept drafts so my bank will do the form A thing and issue a draft in GBP.

I'm going MMU this september. I dont' know how long it takes the British High Commission to grant visas but I suggest you apply as soon as possible to avoid last minute rush and as well to give you more time to take care of any unforeseen circumstance that comes with visa application (in case they arise). Of less importance, you might miss the freshers week. Just in case you're not here before your course starts, let the admission office be aware. See you around!
