I won't proof read my write up. It is only in Nigeria that people confuse "good spelling skills" with "intelligence" and "proof of education". Apart from my lack of spelling skills what holes did you find ? it would have been more useful if you had attacked my logics. You are entitled to your opinion which is exactly what you have given. And it seems to me that we ca modelise your opinion like thus: let A be a person, let B be "A is a thief", and let C be "A is corrupt". Your opinion is: (B -> C)&(not(C ->B)).

You have written off the Professor as an "unintelligent man," because you happen to disagree with something he said. Does that nullify everything else he is indubitably great at?

I did not dwell on your attention to detail in your paragraph, as we all make typographical errors. However, it appears you did not read the second half of my comment.

That second (and longer) half attempted to show why your logic appears flawed. Your attempt to justify the statement that "stealing is not corruption" is not convincing. All you've done is sub-categorize other aspects of human society that may be labelled as "corrupt," in the context of that group/society.

While all those categorizations are indeed true, how does that remove "stealing" from the sub-category? It does NOT appear to.

Let me know why stealing is NOT an act of corruption.

FYI I have zero interest in Nigerian politics and partisan bickering. If your driving motive is some allegiance to Jonathan, Buhari, political parties etc, then don't bother responding. I only engage in common sense conversations which stimulate reasoning, and not biased rhetoric.

Buhari doesn't owe anyone any apology

I experience his era back then and many innocent souls were thrown into prison. He was naive back then and knew nothing abut due process. He has simply grown up.

So, going by your definition of corruption, stealing is not corruption in your fish brain? You keep on displaying your stupidity here, honestly.
He even said that when a Muslim eats pork, that is also a corruption! The guy is confused. When in actual fact, Muslims are allowed to eat pork under some circumstances.
My point is that the guy doesn't know what constitute corruption at all.

Look, my friend, (if you allow me to call you that, if not I appologize) The second paragraph is exactly what I modelized with my formula:
((B -> C)&(not(C ->B))).
As for Nigeria, my passion for that country has died, but I have an allergy for mass idiocy (I don't mean you, I am just speaking generally), the same kind of mass idiocy which bread the nazis and the colonizers.

I used to be a great fan of this guy soyinka, but now he has shown his true face: that of deceipt.
When soyinka says this about buhari "he is a born again phenomenon". What I want to ask him is where is your proof ?
Each time people underline buhari's tribalism attitude and his dictatorial ways, buhari's supporters say that we should give him more time before concluding, whereas, someone would just come out of nowhere and categorically say that buhari is a born again ! Soyinka was one of the people who called buhari a terrible dictator as bad as sani abacha, soyinka said that in the 2011 electtions. And shamelessly soyinka is singing another music now. Soyinka, it is obvious that either old age is playing tricks on you, either you get money to say the things you say.

You need to go back to school and learn comprehension. Didn't you read where the Prof left room for the possibility of misjudgement. He said "I think..." and also "If I am wrong, well, too bad" Does that sound like he is certain that Buhari is a born again phenomenon?

Don't be too quick to criticize.

soyinka, as a postgraduate, I get disappointed in you each day.
You have become a full fledged politician, and I suspect you have always been.
Soyinka, you are far from being the intelligent man I thought you were.
For your information, soyinka, the word corruption doesn't have a universal meaning. Indeed to heterosexuals, homosexuality is corruption, to passionate musicians singing with the help of electronics is corruption, to people against alcool, drinking alcool is corruption. And depending on your religious beliefs, corruption can mean different things. For muslims, eating porc is corruption, speaking ill of mohamed is corruption, not being a muslim is corruption. For christians not being a monotheist is corruption, not going to church is corruption. for atheists being religious is corruption. Also when a thief is being arraigned by the police for stealing an orange, nobody considers that thief a corrupt man. When someone rubs a bank and steals large sums of money, nobody calls him corrupt. I expected a university professor to know all this. How dissappointed I am in soyinka who I thought was a world citizen and an intelligent man.
In all ramification he knows more than you do. How many books have you written that has local recognition talk more of international? Let's give respect to whom respect is due. Well on the issue of corruption, there are types and forms of corruption ranging from political, moral, economical and the definition of the corruption I got on political corruption is the use of powers by government officials for illegitimate private gain. Also mean dishonest or fraudulent conducts by those in power.Stealing means take without permission or legal right. Corruption is not legal as well as stealing. For me and those who care for this dear country, stealing is corruption. Cheers!

Another display of a lack of comprehension skills. The Prof was not trying to explain the similarities or differences between Stealing and Corruption. He was only chiding Jonathan for seeming to condone stealing for not (according to him) being corruption.

Buhari doesn't owe anyone any apology

As long as he knows that no one or region owes him any apology too, we are fine. He can't talk of 97% and 5%, and turn around and act sanctimoniously.

I wish he didn't make that statement but then, we can't judge him based on that. He deserves all our goodwill and blessings. He is a fighter. A warrior. A true Nigerian.

God bless our Nigeria.

Now you think you've said something very sensible? after all examples of 'corruption' above, that depending on religious belief is corruption but stealing is not corruption? stealing? maybe you and our ex president went to the same college. your GST's lecturer must have really mess#ed with your brains.
In another live interview, when GEJ was asked to clarify on the issue, he said " I never said stealing is not a crime "... on that note, it's like saying armed robbery is not duping but they're both crimes... you can't charge a yahoo boy for armed robbery. The aspect of corruption he mentioned was political corruption.

Let not the pot call the kettle black!!!

If we are to agree with Soyinka that GEJ shouldn't have said that stealing is not corruption, what about the statement that " Confraternity is not cultism " or there is an obvious difference between cultism and confraternity.

Soyinka should preach that to his dogs.....
He is a pioneer of cultism ...a way of life that have destroyed many and cost many their life

I am highly disappointed to hear some one like you Mr Soyinka say what you have just said about Mr Buhari, who is nothing but a sole administrator of the country Nigerian; a dictator in civilian attire.

It's only in Nigeria that there's a democracy where President have no cabinet, who are to constitute the executive arm of government but it's not so Mr Buhari is sole administrator.

I expect that people like you Mr Buhari should speak up against such a malady but here you are trying to sell the idea that PMB is a born again
