Please kindly be informed that our ratings of these firms are not influenced in any way by our personal relationship with them, but instead spurred by their contribution towards the development of the Nigerian book industry and literacy in the country. 5. First Veritas Educational Content Delivery Ltd Established by the immediate former Managing Director of Evans Publishers Limited, Gbenro Adegbola, First Veritas Educational Content Delivery is an organization whose focus is strongly bent towards the provision of high quality and cost effective educational services and solutions through innovation to students and other stakeholders in the educational industry. First Veritas as a firm stands for two things: innovation and top quality publishing. We believe in the years to come, First Veritas will bank on their publishing platform to sell our running comatose cultural identity. Welcome on board, First Veritas. 4 Evans Publishers Limited Evans' top quality, educative and affordable books has not only attracted us, but it has ensured its placement on our prestigious Top Five. Evans Brothers Nigeria Publishers Limited has continued to thrive in the development of high quality educational and curriculum based books as well as leisure books. The company has a subsidiary company called Nelson Publishers which it acquired in 2004. Evans Publishers initiated the 'Inspire Campaign' in 2004. This campaign is a platform adopted to positively impact and add value to all Evans stakeholders namely; students, teachers, booksellers, parents. We salute you, Evans Publishers. 3 Black Tower Publishers Limited www.blacktowerpublishers.com.ng Black Tower Publishers Limited was incorporated in Costa Rica in December 1966 and today Black Tower Publishers Nig Ltd (branch) stands among Nigeria’s leading educational and online publishers. They publish books of all kinds; and offer manuscript editing, proofreading, script review, ghostwriting services and publishing contracts. 2. CassavaRepublic Press www.cassavarepublic.biz This is what Cassava Republic Press' refreshing and engaging website have to say about the intecontinental brand: We set up Cassava Republic in 2006, after a few years of contemplation and planning. African writers were being increasingly published and read overseas, with little knowledge or availability of this new wave of talent in Nigeria. The conversation about African writing was taking place elsewhere. Something had to be done. Seven years later, we are a small but established publishing brand, with a reputation for bringing out high quality fiction and non- fiction for adults and children alike. Our mission is to change the way we all think about African writing. We think that contemporary African prose should be rooted in African experience in all its diversity, whether set in filthy-yet-sexy megacities such as Lagos or Kinshasa, in little-known rural communities, in the recent past or indeed the near future. We also think the time has come to build a new body of African writing that links writers across different times and spaces. It's therefore the right time to ask challenging questions of African writing - where have we come from, where are we now, where are we going? Our role is to facilitate and participate in addressing these questions, as our list grows. We are still just beginning. Good job, Cassava Republic. 1 Bookcraft Limited A friend of mine was saying the other day that Wole Soyinka must have bought a larger percentage of Bookcraft Limited since the company publishes all of his latest titles. BOOKCRAFT has done well for themselves and the publishing industry, providing upcoming publishing houses the necessary template. What we like about the company? If there is one thing we are eulogizing the firm for, it is their taste of quality which exudes in the packaging and presentation of all of their titles. Established in Nigeria over twenty years ago, BOOKCRAFT has published a large number of titles in a wide variety of subjects art; biography; history; literature; politics; current affairs; for a growing market of discerning, sophisticated and well educated bibliophiles. BOOKCRAFT has over the years established a distinctive presence in the book market, the uniquely-packaged, reader-friendly design of our books, quickly becoming an instantly recognizable trademark. Well done, BOOKCRAFT.Congratulations.

[quote author=TiffanyJ post=24500636]CHAPTER ONE
Linda James sang as she drove home from the mall.
'... If you need me i'll come runing from a thousand miles
when you smile I smile'
This song by Justine Bieber had always brought forth Henry's face in her mind's eye.
'Henry!'
Linda exclaimed excitedly. She had carefully planned the events of the next day.
At the back of her dark blue Honda Civic are the groceries she had purchased for tomorrow's event.
'Tomorrow is Henry's birthday'
Linda reminded herself for the hundred time.
Linda felt no shame admiting to anyone or herself that Henry was her lover.
They had been lovers for more than two years. He was everything Linda had ever wanted in a man but he already made it clear to her that he won't marry her.
'marriage is not for me'
he had often told her. Linda, who had had her own share of men saw nothing wrong in having a sexual relationship with Henry Joseph.
Ofcourse, she was not his only woman. She knew most of her rivals.
There was Salimah, Ruth, Sandra, Angelica-and others she didn't care to know their names.
She loved Henry and that was the only thing that mattered and she needed no prophet to tell her she was Henry's favourite lover.
She was the only woman with a spare key to his house, therefore, she visited him as often as she wished- a luxury none of her rivals had.
Oh yes, she had met his family and Linda was the godmother of Henry's only nephew, Eugene.
Linda parked at the lot in front of her flat. She alighted, walked majestically to her boot, unlucked it and removed the groceries before helping herself into her self contained flat.
She kicked off her two inch heels and unceremoniously dropped the groceries on the tiled floor.
Her sitting room was perfectly decorated in blue. She loved blue and had taken her time to personally decorate her house.
Linda switched on the TV to her favourite music channel. Soon, she began dancing to the rhythm of the music.
Linda was neither dark nor fair in complexion. She has a chocolate skin. She was beautiful with intelligent eyes. Her bosoms were full and succulent, her stomach was flat with a good hip to match.
Linda has long legs which she loved showing off.
She was twenty seven years old. With her height, her beauty and her intelligence, many often mistook her for a model.
She has all it takes to be a model, but no, she prefered being an event planner and decorator.
She had studied Urban and Regional planning at the university of Lagos and graduated with a second class upper.
Her parent had been shocked when after her National Youth Service Corps, had annouced that she was going to learn event planning and decoration.
This decision so baffled her parents it nearly caused a rift between them. Her father was the only Human who understood her.
While her mother rant and shouted at the top of her voice, her father had simply stared at her and asked if being an event planner will make her happy.
She told him yes. During her Nysc, she had met a planner and had simply fallen inlove with the job.
Her father had consented to this, gave her his blessings and helped her financially as she went back to school.
Two years later, she got a job with R and C Company in Abuja. That was how she had met Henry.
'Henry!'
oh no, she has totally forgotten that she has to prepare for his birthday the next day.
She switched off the TV and picked the groceries into the spotlessly cleaned kitchen.
She heard her phone ringing. Linda ran to the sitting room and retrieved the phone from the table.

* * *
a car was parked at their gate and a man, thesame plump man that had delivered the letter alight and walked up to them.
'mr & mrs Joseph, I am special Agent samuel Emmanuel and the VP is expecting you'
He removed his identity card from his breast pocket and waved it at them. Henry weighed the flawless of the card before moving forward.
It was a black space bus and to be exact, Toyota Sienna. The glasses were tinted.
'sir, can you please sit at the back, we would be be picking up the Nicholas'
'sure'
Henry muttered while helping Linda in. He couldn't stop staring at her while they drove.
'stop staring Henry'
Linda whispered into his ears. He let out a laughed.
'i will prefer we bail this dinner, go back home and retire early for the night'
he whispered back.
'and have Tara and Mitch telling me the whole story? No, i won't miss the opportunity of meeting with the VP even though his son is a clod'
Henry gave up. Neither he nor Jordan want a part of this but the three women had insisted on going. While at work, Jordan had called Henry and the two decided to tolerate the VP but do teach his son a lesson if he showed no sign of remorse. You can't kiss another man's wife and go scott free.
The car stopped in front of the Nicholas mansion. Henry dialled Jordan informing him of their arrival. The Nicholas emerged from their house.
Tara in a black loose fitted strapless smart gown and Mitch looking elegant in a red sleeveless dress.
Tara and her husband sat infront of the Josephs while Mitch sat in front, with the driver. Linda observed that Tara's left wrist is still bandage.
They exchange greetings and had one or two chit chats while they drove. They got to their destination in no time.
Security they observed was tight but they were ushered in without any qualms.
'why is Henry gawking at you so?'
Tara asked her almost in a whisper.
'I should be asking you same question. Why is Jordan gawking at you so?'
Linda whispered. Tara instinctively shot a glance at her husband.
'are you doubting me?'
Linda asked.
'no i'm not. But i'm glad he is gawking at me'
the two women burst into laughter. Henry drew his wife to him and Jordan did same leaving Mitch alone.
'oh, who told me not fall inlove and get married?'
Linda said in feigned annoyance. The three woman laughed again.
The were ushered into an expensively polish living room. The sat down in wait for their host.
In less than five minutes, their host decended the stairs with his wife. They were both smiling. Their guest all went on their feet.
'welcome to my home. I'm pleased you made it here'
they all nodded. After the greetings and introductions were made, he invited them to the dining room.
They were served fried rice and sallad. They all ate quietly and Linda tried hard to not bother that Henry was staring at her almost throughout the meal. She drank more than her share of the very expensive wine.
After their meal, they were ushered to another room. A very private palour. The men talked a bit on politics and then Aaron swiftly changed the topic.
'my wife and I invited you here to apologize on behave of our son. What he did was inexcusable and i won't give you one'
'forcing a kiss from a married woman is intolerable'
Henry calmly added.
'Slapping and attacking innocent women should not go unpunished sir'
Jordan added.
Aaro gawked at them. Their presence took him aback. These are people who had growned up in money but they live responsible lives. He couldn't deny the fact that their parents did excellent jobs with them.
Another thing that suprised him was the unconditional love they shared among themselves. He had noticed how the husbands had been staring at their wives with lust and love. Even the siblings love their selves. The Josephs siblings and the Nicholas siblings.
His daughters dislike Terry. Who wouldn't? He was loath-some. He wished his children were this close. Aaron Martins fell in love with his five guests immediately. They were old enough to be his kids but he wanted to know them more and befriend them.
'I'm not talking to you as the vice president of Nigeria, but as a father who knew his son had wronged you and seek to make peace'

Re: A Man To Call Her Own by AK481(m): 12:56pm On Apr 10, 2016
TiffanyJ:
Linda sat crossed leg on the maroon cushion. Henry emerged from the bedroom unclad.
'Linda, what is the problem?'
he asked her in a concerned tune.
She turned and gave him her best smile.
'I'm okay Henry. Please put on something. You seem to have forgotten that you are unclad'
'you are right Linda'
He told her and marched to the bedroom. He emerged in less than three minutes wearing a pair of black jeans.
Linda knew she had to pretend that she wasn't jealous, therefore, she played the perfect actress.
She ran to him and engulfed him in a hug.
'Happy birthday sugar'
Sugar was what she called him whenever they are alone. Henry picked her up and swinged her around.
'you are so beautiful my dear'
she only laughed and kissed his cheek before stepping back to stare at him.
Her heart skipped a beat. He was tall, dark with so much sexy eyes.
At thirty-two, Henry wasn't looking bad at all. He looked very athletic and at thesame time dangerous.
Henry didn't just look dangerous, he was actually very dangerous. He came from a powerful and influencial family.
His sister, Tara owned one of the best law firm in Nigeria. The firm was worth millions of naira.
His brother-in-law's family owned the largest building company in Nigeria. Both Tara and Jordan's assets combined together will make the Nicholas Billionaires; the richest family in the country.
Henry's family owned an advertising agency. Henry is one of the Shareholders.
The Nicholas and Josephs were household name and the whole of Abuja knew that Henry is not someone to step on.
'Hy, my sweetypie, what is stealing you away from me?'
Henry said while his hands caressed her cheek.
Linda laughed a little too forcefully. Sandra appeared at the door.
Linda looked towards her and Henry's eyes followed her.
'Sandra, take a bath and leave. I will pay you a visit tomorrow'
'but my love, I came here before her'
sandra pouted
'hey, don't argue with me. I said i will pay you a visit'
Henry spoke in a calm but firm voice which left no room for disobediance.
Sandra accepted defeat and walked back the way she came.
Henry's eye drifted to the cake on the table.
'oh Linda, thank you very much'
'don't mention sugar'
Linda replied sweetly, but her heart cried out.
'is this all i get after my sleepless night?'
but she didn't say that out loud.
'you need a bath Henry'
she said as she led him into the spare bathroom. He only laughed out as he began bathing.
She walked back to the sitting room. Sandra lay in wait for an ambush.
'you will soon be twenty eight. Why not get married and give us the younger babes a chance with Henry.
You might be his favourite but we both know he won't marry you.
Get married before you clock thirty. Look at me.. I'm just twenty three and my life is just beginning.
Don't you ever look disdainfully at your face in the mirror and accept the fact that you ought to get married and give us a chance with Henry?
Shameless good for nothing woman!'
sandra spite out her last sentence before walking angrilly away.
Linda sat like a statue. Sandra's word felt like a slap on her cheeks.
She walked to the bar at the other side of the room and blindly removed a bottle of wine. She poured some into a goblet and gulped it all down.
'Linda, what are you doing? Its just 10am and you are drinking alcohol'
Henry barked as he removed the bottle from her hands.
'Henry, come on. It's saturday and you are thirty-two. Allow me to celebrate'
Linda told him laughing.
* * *
The day turned out to be a disaster. Linda had grinned and smiled and laughed till she thought she might expire.
They spend the day watching movies. When towards the evening they went out for dinner, she forced herself to bite everything in her plate and pretended the food was delicious when in truth, it tasted like a chaff in her mouth.
By 8pm, Henry sugested they visit starlet. Linda jumped and offered to drive.
The starlet was a club they often visited. Jordan soon stopped after he got married and fell inlove with Tara.
Linda drank two bottles of alcohol and danced until her feet hurts.
When she was about to begin her third bottle, Henry scooped her up and walked back to the car.
She fell asleep before they got home. At home, he gently lay her on the bed and pulled the cover up to her chin. He stare at her in concern.
'what is eating you up Linda? Are you having financial problems? Or is your boss giving you a tough time? Please tell me what the problem is. I hate seeing you in this state'
Henry spoke to a sleeping Linda.

Reminds me of sugarbae and audu escapades

Goodmorning to you all. Linda and Henry's story is about to begin.
I really had a conflict on the title of this work. At first, i thought to name it 'The Scandalous Bride' but a very very good friend of mine observed that another name should be better. So i opted for my original title, 'A Man to Call Her Own'
This book is set two years after Tara had Eugene.
We will meet the Nicholas and ofcourse Shan.
