Hello house,
well like many graduates out there i am confused as to how to go about this job hunt of a thing and have heard many stories, some say its God, for some its luck, others argue its connection, so am throwing this ? to those employed in the house, how did you get your present job? and how long did it take to get it?.

I applied for a Graduate Intern position at a construction company on a Tuesday, got called to come for an Interview the next day and finally resumed the following Monday.


saw the Job ad on one of those "1 post" thread on the career section.

If you stay outside these states Kano, Abuja, Porthacourt and Lagos however, Ogun and Ibadan are competing with the mentioned states.....your chances of getting a well paying job is slim but you must be ready to relocate and never be selective, any job that you get ensure it can cover your feeding and transportation....

I got my first and second job by simply applying through nairaland, no connections, I only applied and convincingly showed them that I am the best for the positions I had applied for. Both took averagely two months for the recruitment exercise, three stages each.

Applying through nairaland simply means that I saw the job advert on nairaland.

Recommendation by a colleague from my last job..

I have been asked to find an experienced buyer as well.. Wonder if anyone has a good CV with a strong background in said field.

Na connection for me o. Though I was over qualified for the job. But connection facilitated the job against many applicants.

Got my two job offers barely 6months after nysc. Saw an advert of one while serving n I applied. The second one wasn't posted online. An insider told me about the opening n I applied. Got the two offers after oral and written tests. Purely on merit.

My advice, believe it will come and pray over it. Possibly make "your God" a promise/covenant of what you will pay bak with wen HE blesses you. That was my style.

Saw the vacancy on facebook.

It was the first job i applied for after Service.

And i got an invite.

It was an unsolicited application.

I stumbled on the profiles of some HR staff of the company on Linkedin, "connected" with them, sent my resume via email and the rest is history...

It was not a smooth journey though.

I was marketing for my previous employer and went to see a client in my present office.

I was persistent and the man had no other choice than to buy the services I was selling.


There was an opening along the line and he asked if I was interested.



That was a little more than 10years ago

I was Jobless for 7 years after i graduate from University. With Good grade fa . But then, i had No direction, No hope, Nothing!!

i traveled through the nook and cranny of Nigeria in search of Job, but nothing to show for it

i was denied job in a new Generation bank because of my religion in the hay day of Boko haram back in 2009. The HR guy mr Basil told me point blank that that i look like Boko Haram

I browsed through Nairaland in 2011 and i saw a thread where linda ikeji bought 6million naira car or so. I sat myself down and studied the girl and her mode of blogging. I made google my daily companion and researched on blogging.

3 years later, Inshallah, I bought my own Big Car from Blogging too Thunder fire banking, NNPC, CBN,FIRS jobs, Im far more better than their Ogas there. (No bragging oOo )

Yes I own and run www.everynigeria.com It has over Half a million Followers on facebook and top 300 website in Nigeria according to alexa ranking

I dont even know how to code, but i designed it myself with lots of Youtube videos, PDF ebook downloads and more efforts
