Carrick didn't do shitte,
Normally he'll control possession brilliantly didn't see any of that yesterday.
Bastian did better than him.
Darmain did well but has no offensive game whatsoever I expect shaw to be charging down that left wing since Darmain is too defensive.
Mata for all his assist and ,beautiful pass to Memphis made some horrible passes and was easily dispossess, can't afford that against better team.
Memphis still hasn't impressed I thought we got our own Hazard in this guy ? Hopefully he gets better.
Smalling and Blind did well Smalling was my MoTM,
Rooney was bad, very bad my confidence in him took a severe beating in this match.
I think we've to start Hernadez under the pretence of resting Rooney for the next EPL game.
We need Pedro at least to give us some penetration down the right.
You'd make students commit suicide if you were a lecturer.

Slow your row. You should see that the team is looking better. You can't expect the team to play with all their might when they know there's an important match on Tuesday.

The leakages at RB has been plugged and that's a good thing. Also the build up play is getting better, marginally maybe.

Things aren't going to start looking good all of a sudden. Even cR7 didn't transform into a world class player in the blink of an eye.

If you can't see any positives then that's too bad.

BTW the Herrera you guys are clamoring for has been useless in the last 2 matches. He seeks the ball too much and easily loses possession whenn he gets it.

However I expect he'll come good in the new position he's playing.

no striker would have done zilch with the lack of supply to the final ball yesterday from the 2 displays from united so far this isnt the man u i should be proud of , we thumped villa last season with our vilified players but our expensive winger hasnt done anything to deserve a starting shirt, januzaj is still shyte. 6 points is good but the team gotta play better than this
Rooney isn't sharp - that's the problem. He'd ctrl a ball (howbeit clumsily) and he'd be out of options. He'll roll the ball over for 3 seconds and then pass back. Whatever happened to threatening defenders? Making an effort? This might not get a him goal but it'll surely lead to goal scoring opportunities for others and help the team generally. Until baba get that sharpness defenders won't fear Utd's attack.

Depay is sh.it after 2 matches? Okay. Jzj is also sh.it? Okay. I guess everybody who played yesterday were sh.it except for White pele because 'the team isn't playing to his strength' eh?

You like the 6pts but the team that got it is sh.it.

Against big teams in whether Europe or in the league we will play better ,why?, cos they don't particularly defend with all their men except maybe Chelsea. I'm not worried about big teams ,I'm more worried about smaller teams n how de took 2 points each off us last season. If we can win the small teams then we will mount a title challenge.

People complaining about how shyte our play is should remember that it's only two games in n the new players r still gelling into the team n what's important at this stage is the three points not fancy football n zero points cos by this time last season, we had only one point.

@leypute
I called it like I saw it,I also don't think I was harsh on anybody aside from rooney.
If you feel I was to stingy,it because of my expectation going into the game and considering our opponent na Villa wey lose their best striker, best midfielder to other teams and their best defender to injury, you can understand why I thought we'll destroy them.
I also never watched any pre season match so I just dey see Memphis for the 2nd time.

I doubt lewandonski was this bad and how many assist did suarez get in that 10match period ?
You know am no Rooney hater but that was rock bottom yesterday.
Hopefully he'll find his rhythm like you say though I should point out that we really can't afford the time for our captain to be re learning the tricks of the trade.
Still think Hernadez should start the qualifer game we'll just say we're resting Rooney.
See Lewandowski stat last season. You said you doubt, now I clear you.

Suarez went to slot into a good team, he would ordinarily have assists. I wonder how many assists he had that period sef.

United is still assembling its creativity. There is also a disjoint between the midfield and forwards. Januzaj and Memphis didn't have a great day. Januzaj scored a beauty but he lost himself trying to do magics, and he killed a fine counter started by Rooney.

Lewandowski doesn't have half the fan base doubting whether he can get the goals require for them to have a glorious season Rooney has that problem and over this two games he hasn't done anything to calm the fear of that half infact he don give them bullet, and we've played a top 5 candidate and relegation scrapper.
Now, If scoring own goals and winning via deflected shot will take us to where we want, am all for it I just don't think its possible.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 8:24am On Aug 15, 2015
Rooney don suffer. When I said Lewandowski started slowly last season, they said its a lie. If it were Rooney who started that way, the whole nairaland sports session and English media will be interested.

This was how Suarez started.

the lad was the best outfield player for us last season, can you explain why he need to watch & prove himself all over again from the sidelines?

The first game of the season, I happened to be in a hotel bar packed with viewers & you need to hear the deafening applause when the board went up for Herrera's introduction! The same scenes @ Old Trafford.

Millions of fans the world over cannot be zombies.

And last season we get RVP+Rooney.
This season na only Hernadez, that is still picking splinters from his backside from his time with Madrid .you see why boys they fear ?

Besides na only maybe Three people for the whole nairaland they watch bundesliga nobody cares if lewandonski goes 2 for 30 matches

I think it's just tactical. Herrera and Tiger have same style. They complement better.

Also, the coach doesn't want to disrespect Carrick having being our most productive player last season.

Pedro can slot in as a striker should Rooney flop.

What is important is three points, not individual glory. You can bring a striker for £50m and he flops like Falcao. Then we fall back on Rooney and Chicha again. Premier League is not easy.

We haven't even signed pedro yet and the new rumours are City also want him what if they decide he is a cheaper alternative than the expensive KDB ?

Incase my numerous posts didn't show it I am happy that we're on top of the table cheesy

Can you compare Herrera's kinda performance last season with what he's played in the last two matches?

There's a difference between what he's done and what he's doing.

I'm not doubting his ability or intelligence, the dude just needs to cool down. His anxiousness to get a pass is ruining him. This is the kind of play that got him benched at the beginning of last season.

Moreover it's partly a new experience and position for him with the team and I trust he'll come good.

He's a good player no doubt buh his performance hasn't been okay.

Rooney was not the only one who had misplaced passes. Schneiderlin, Smalling and even Tiger had misplaced passes.

We didn't get our passes going until about 30 minutes. In that period, Rooney didn't even get any service.

Even Mata lost possession in that period. This is a team that is still hitting gear.

The overzealous taming of footballers will lead us nowhere. It's ok if we have the x-factor like a Messi or Ronaldo, but no, we don't have anything close.
Some instances players need to express themselves & do stuff that just occur instinctively in their minds. Too many kick & follow getting favored that's why the team is boring as hell.
Make no mistake about it, this is an assembly of players in excess of £250m! It MUST entertain & grab trophies along the line. The fans are patient & it's still early days but making & playing informed/normal selections that even the ordinary pundit in studios can see will be a good start.
If LvG cannot guarantee these, he should give way for someone who will - it's that simple.

In your bid to defend Rooney you keep mentioning the faults of other players. It is pathetic.

If a player gets 10 things right and then messes up in two other things we can forgive that player. But when an ediotic Rooneys gets nothing right out of 10 things then we bash him outrightly. Simple. Did u watch the match at all, I doubt, because if you did you will not mention the names of Teiger, Smalling and schneiderlin and use them to compare with sh1t Rooney served us yesterday.

If he comes good later we praise him but this 300k a wk player is a disgrace to the united shirt in this last 2 games.

Pls don't tell me about what Rooney has achieved for united because I know he has been a great servant, but recently he needs to really assess himself and come clean.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by TopWinner(m):
Last night. Schweinsteiger came on and within 5mins, he completely shutdown the game and owned the midfield. Class player. Mata's pass for Januzaj's goal was exquisitely delightful. You don't see that often. Manchester United won. And after our match, I tuned to the Barca vs Bilbao game and watched like 15 mins of the first half and ManUtd's Pedro was the best player on the pitch.

In addition to the fact we just assembled our team, our build up play is struggling because we play deep defensive set up. Then our full backs are less ambitious.

Luke Shaw is not as good as Blind going forward in the flank. Darmian didn't do as good going forward as he did in his first game.

But for me, I am okay for now. This is a good approach. Many men behind the ball.

So we should forget about others and just concentrate on Rooney? Rooney had good moments too.

Two years ago, when Rooney destroyed Leverkusen at Old Trafford with an excellent performance., the antiRooney on this thread made it looked like he was the worst player just because he did not pass to RVP. This was Rooney was was easily the MoTM after capping brilliant individual display with 2 goals and a sexy Assist to set up Valencia. We won 4-2.*He had about 94% pass accuracy.

Where were you then? Did you fight those who unjustly criticized him over several pages? This is why I say you people are biased. Tell me when Rooney has ever been spared even when he won MoTM?

But I never meant to defend Rooney. I was invited.
