@joe980 and thebae

Thanks so much for your advice.

My aged father has a land with a survey. Can I use that even though it isn't in my name but the land is virtually mine. Does he need to write that such land has been transferred to me

Mr Morgan, thanks for ur irrelevant answer. Cos I don't see how reading back will answer my question for a centre which just started in June, 2nd to be precise. I guess u r d one that is out of date. So go and update to the latest Windows 10 and stop using Windows 97. tongue

Thanks a million. This is what I got and I plan to use to address all my letters: Canada Visa Application Centre, Abuja
Silverbird Entertainment Centre.
Plot 1161, Memorial Drive,2nd Floor,
Central Business District, Abuja
SeraSera:

I'm not sure what you mean by address. If you're referring to the address of the high commission, I think you should use the one for Abuja and not Lagos. You can google it out. As for the police character certificate, it is not compulsory, but if you really want to include it and cannot come to Lagos, people have said it is possible to have your state command forward your request to the Lagos command and have it delivered back in a couple of days.

You're welcome. If you're talking about letters like SOP, Sponsorship letter, etc. you should address them to the Visa Officer, High Commission of Canada and not to VAC. VAC is more-or-less a collection and dispatch agent, all of the real magic happens at the Commission.

Errm @ralfudoh you must be hardworking if you wan to be in Canada. Please start from now. There was no harm meant when I referred you to the begining of the forum. I am also very current(just for the records). Please imbibe the habit of research. my 2 cents.... grin

Does CIC discriminate against applicants with private school admissions?

Please I need your input on this please. It is urgent. The bosses in the house
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by thesoj: 11:36pm On Aug 15, 2015
In that case, I suppose you could leave it blank. But I would still recommend putting no less than $10k in the "Other" category.

Also, I would strongly recommend putting the letter from the relative in the " Proof of Funds" section. Such letter should be as specific as possible, with the relative stating they would cover your accomodation and food completely (they would also explain why they are doing this for you). Maybe you could also include a "Explanation of Finances" letter where you summarize your finances and highlight once again that your relative would be taking care of your accomodation and food (you would refer to the attached letter from relative).

Hmm... since "Room and Board" refers to housing and food, I'm thinking you should mention in the "Explanation of Finances" how much of the $10k in the "Other" category you would be spending on food (e.g. when you are not at your relative's house)

I don't like the idea of leaving "Room and Board" blank but you should be OK if you explain well.

What if the applicant already has his accommodation sorted out. like his relative gives a letter that he will accommodate him altru his stay in canada.

It is, according to the link below, but if you address your letter as follows:

The Visa Officer,
High Commission of Canada,
15 Bobo Street, Maitama,
Abuja, Nigeria

without including the P.O. Box, you'll be just fine.

Discrimination is probably not the word but I will strongly advise you consider the rep of the school cos coming to Canada is just a tip of the iceberg....settling down in Canada is very much another...so some schools don't qualify you for post grad work permit.
Which means you are sent back home after the program.So if you have plans of heading back home after your program, then you are good to go.
But I get concerned these days cos I see a number of young guys that can be more useful back home using their prime years to evade Immigration.
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by thesoj: 3:00am On Aug 16, 2015
Hey I just had another thought.
Why not just write $10k in the "Room &Board" box and leave "Others" blank?
You would then explain in the " Explanation of Finances" that your relative is hosting you (with relative's letter attached) but that the $10k under room and board would also cover incidentals.

I just feel like leaving "Room &Board" blank could raise initial concerns. Hope I haven't confused you further undecided

@ralfudoh @SeraSera @JJCE

You don't need to put the full address on top of any of the letters you submit. In my opinion it is a waste of valuable space.
All you need to do is write "High Commission of Canada, Accra" and then "Dear Visa Officer," on the next line. No need to put any address details, I think it is redundant smiley. In my sister's app this is what we did. For the SOP, we didn't address it to anyone... we just titled it "Letter of Intent". It is the content of the letter that matters imho, it is obvious who the reader is.

Well.... I already submitted my application and I left the space for room and board blank and put 10k on the space for others. Since I already had a letter from my host stating he'll accommodate and feed me altru my studies.... I felt that including money for room and board on the form could jeopardise my app.
