I think its also suspected that his team members were probably jealous that Tim was promoted ahead of them. It was also said that he was left to his own ways with little or no support.
I don't think he is a poor leader as the conditions he found himself, he just had to deliver which he did. If he had more support and empowerment in terms of training, more years of experience and more staff, he probably would be one of the best team leaders in the CS dept.

That part was kinda tricky but with deep analysis.....I think one will be able to make good recommendations.

During the group exercise, I was like; "But A2 hey... (group leader was A2, and he was just making decisions anyhow).. (so, .., back to what I was saying)... But A2 hey.. Do we have to give up all the proceedings to charity. That's too much...". And all the group members got laughing, some few of the accessors smiled anyway.. Na im somebody said "omo-igbo". I guess it was A4.. I had to quickly whisper "this one no be igbo matter, but na true naa. The profit is just too much after the whole expenses."..
...
I hope derailing didn't cost our group.? I hope we were not penalized for laughing out in such a serious scenario.

Tim or Phil? He was regarded as being bully, maybe because of envy or whatever. One of the staff was very sick and he refused to grant her permlssion thereby forcing her to work. Is that a good leadership style? Remember one of the core values of NLNG is CARING. Yes he needs to undergo training to improve on his leadership skills , employee management skills and so on inorder to gain the love from his team which will increase their motivation. A good leader should be loved and trusted by those his leading.

I guess you didn't read that part in detail, you misconstrued it or you can't recall the facts bro. There was no where in the brief where Tim refused to grant a staff leave. If I remember correctly, it was said in the brief that one of the staff is currently on sick leave claiming stress that 'Tims pushing for them to meet their KPI is too much'.

I support some of your points tho, about training and all. Anyway, AC was beautiful for me....I enjoyed myself....Now I can only wait and pray for the best. God is in charge!

I don't support derailing, but calling a group member 'Omo Igbo', that's just wrong on so many levels. I hope your assessors didn't hear that though

Mr Coolio, AC was concluded about two weeks ago as CHM has said. Mop up sessions, I know nothing about but I doubt if there was any session like dat. Even if there was any mop up session, it was concluded two weeks ago

Omo no be only u o. I even did my AC the second day of the whole excercise in abuja. they said the first acct no i gave them had problem and i should bring another one.

But have not received any alert since i gave them another acct number.

But no problem sha, they go pay. Na the job be the main thing. Who dey pursue cow nor dey take leg trap cockcroach.

The leadership style of Tim could be justifiably debatable whichever side u decide to pick.
Prince of pariz' stance about the other group members not giving enough support is pretty valid. The other point of Tim being overly demanding of his group members and that he needs proper training as a leader is also interesting. Point of note is that whichever angle u look at it, u should have solid facts from the brief to defend your position. As prince of pariz also stated, in your recommendation, you should have given your view of ways to mitigate or solve the issues you have identified therein.

There are a million and one issues you could have identified in the brief. From the HR personnel not acting on reports from group members about the leadership style of Tim, to the identified leakage of information from the Head office to a rival bank.

Success all....it can only get better.

Guys, recommendation on the leadership styles was just a footnote to me. Bigger fish to fry in change of KPI from quantitative to qualitative measures. We are obviously not to see things from same angle, its why this recruitment is into many different sectors across the business.

Your point is also very valid. However, importance should be given to both qualitative and quantitative measures. If attention is given solely to qualitative measures of the KPI, you might get call centre agents who spend too much time on a call, thereby, keeping other callers waiting. A balance between the qualitative and quantitative measures of the KPI are very important and work hand-in-hand to achieve optimum results.
That is why part of the KPI of call centre agents includes the number of calls per day.

The bottom line is whichever stance we would have taken, we should have been able to defend and justify them with facts.

I don't think there is any wrong or right recommendations. I feel that we can only have excellent fact based recommendations depending on the speed of the candidate and the volume of information s/he is able to process within the allocated time.

On another note, did we all work on the same stories? If this is the case then, NLNG I duff my hat!!!!.....truly almost unbiased as promised. Nice one.

You might be surprised that what you look as derailing they look at as confidence is sharing one's idea, and what you consider as "wrong" might be looked at as having friendly/cheerful attitude which is a good thing.

I didn't want to comment on the derailing statement, make I no go buy name. Interviews is an avenue to charge how well you can work with a candidate, no one really wants to work with a stiff staff; else is a research role. And Omo Igbo isn't a derogatory statement, I'll call my fine colleagues senorita; Ada and Omoh that's for you both wink.

In the context used, it makes reference to the stereotype that Igbo people are shrewd business people who put the love for money above all things . It is not right to say that to somebody you have just met, especially in a professional setting where you are being watched by assesors.

Are you certain an Igbo assessor will find it funny? When it comes to tribe and race, you don't say the first thing that pops into your head, especially in a work place.
