Is any one interested in residency in family medicine?

St. Mary's General Hospital Ibadan is presently accepting applications as they are about starting residency in family medicine.

The good thing is that u can apply even if you have not written your primaries yet. U only need to convince them that you will write it as soon as possible.

I just applied too.

Morning Drs. Should I say I'm lucky to have come by this thread? Well, definately! Although I'm not yet a Dr. By God's grace I will resume in OAU next year to study Medicine as an 100 level undergrad. Some people are asking themselves: "But cut off marks are yet to be released talk more of admission list". I know that my God has done it already. I've been reading this thread and it's really good. I don't mind getting pieces of advice from you all and, most especially, I crave meeting any one who studied/is still studying Medicine in OAU, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. (Some people may not know where OAU is located). God bless you all!

I must first congratulate you,and pray that God shall grant your heart desire. I graduated from OAU medical college some years back. I must advise that you put God first and study hard. OAU isnt 'Beans'.[pardon that word].
Apply yourself, know your limits with extracurricular activities. In part 1,I advise that you study diligently,so you wouldnt have to fail any course, cos that might result in an extra year for you. by the time you are through with 100L,im sure you would have know your stretch and stress limit. You can build on that.
The bottom line is to be diligent. follow your own timetable. God bless and help you.

As long as you are accredited, no problem in Nigeria.

However, check to see if your school is listed in the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools. If not listed, it means your medical college is not recognised internationally.

You should also know that a country like Trinidad and Tobago give preference to Colleges of the first generation federal universities like UNN, UNILAG, UCH, UNIBEN, etc

Usually, before you can practise abroad, especially in developed countries, you must first write and pass the country's Medical Licensing Exam. Only those who graduated from Schools listed in the directory are qualified to write the exams, usually.

Accreditation in Nigeria means your school can train and produce doctors, who will be licensed by MDCN to practise in Nigeria.

But most foreign Medical Licensing Councils define 'International Medical Graduates' as those who graduated from Colleges in that Directory.

Maybe in time your school will be listed.
