People like him na ITK- I Too Know
Those are the kind of Nigerians you often meet abroad who fly solo and are not interested in helping other young upcoming Nigerians.
In fact they will snub you and horde information for themselves.
Meanwhile the indians and pakis share information and continue to succeed and move ahead.
Don't mind the chap jare.

The truth is that Angiography will benefit more from the students' thread. Oya boy report back to our thread. There's likelihood of derailment from the major themes of this thread if students increasingly contribute. I've been reading every page and I think that's enough for me for now and Angiography still get some years to reach where I dey grin

what is subjective about that opinion?!!

So, when job recruiters from abroad come to raise awareness about job opportunities in UAE or UK...Are they going to be talking to 100level med students...or to newly weds to bring up their children with the intent that they will go to med scholl and go abroad. I dunno about ife. When i was in U.i, you had your hands full from 100level.to be bothered about working abroad. Its not even sure he's gonna graduate as a doctor and you call my opinion subjective!!! smh*
#subjective.

But it's all fine...i perfectly understand your point.

by the time you graduate, things might be different. For example, 3 years ago after my internship, the UK job market was tight. So many people didn't bother doing PLAB. But now, they need doctors and ppl are hustling to go...What do you think will happen 5 years from now? Nigeria might even be a greenland by then!!! I think its good to know this info...i definitely didn't. But focus more on scaling thru school in good colors. It makes any choice you decide to make in future easy. Those who get all these foreign jobs and residency placements easily, were distinction students/ very applied students in school. Or at least, it made their attempts easy. Like i said earlier. You can start this research in 500level. That way, you can start preparing from 600level, and possibly attempt some of the exams after your finals, b4 housejob...OBJECTIVE OPINION...SEEN AND WORKED OUT FOR SOME SMART FOLKS IN MY SCHOOL.

look i had a resit in final year,...when my mates were worrying about where to do internship. I had to worry about passing, not where i'd do house job. The fact is that medical career is in phases. He said he's in 100 or 200 level. No be person wey get motor go dey find mechanic...Anyway, it's okay...like i said...no offense, just an objective opinion.

I agree with the above. A lot can change from when you get admission to medical school to when you graduate. Things will change. You will change as a person. An acquaintance was so keen on leaving Nigeria when he was still in med school; however he got a chic pregnant after NYSC, they got married and he settled here in Nigeria, throwing away his Step 1 and 2.

A medical student's priorities should be scaling your exams and learning the material well. Some of these exams are not cakewalks so you need to have a good academic foundation.

Let's keep the thread focused on matters related to medical doctors and let medical students use their own thread

@rugged7, please share more info on that SA emergency medicine masters degree. I want to know more.

Got reliable info on Australia?
Re: Medical Doctors' Forum: Let Us Know You! by naijadocs: 8:03pm On Oct 12, 2015
Hello Guys,
I am naijadocsconsulting, for all the information you have been searching for to live and work outside Nigeria as a doctor. People who want to migrate to countries like Canada, Us, Ireland, Dubai, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Australia and New zealand. We have all the information, also required exams and how to apply and even materials for the exams. We basically specialize in Plab exams for the UK, from Ielts, plab 1 and 2 exams. We will be starting plab 2 classes in Nigeria very soon this is to save the exorbitant amount of money Nigerian doctors have to pay for accommodation, feeding and even the cost of the courses in UK and in the nearest future also want to start Plab 1 classes. We also have access to more than enough materials needed to pass IELTS PLAB 1 and 2 exams. For those interested please send an email to naijadocsconsulting@gmail.com.

To do well in IELTS you dont only need good preparation, but also good materials. To ensure you get at least 7.5 and more in all bands you need to practise with the right materials. For more information on the materials which include videos, text books audios and work books contact naijadocsconsulting@gmail.com

To even stand a (slim) chance in Canada, you need to be a Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Right now the best place to go is UK through plab as they need a lot of doctors, US if you dont have work permit visa or residency its very hard getting into a residency system because no one will want to sponsor since competition is fierce. It is even worse in Canada even with your PR, canada is the most difficult country to get in an practise as a doctor so guys migrating there bear in mind so you dont go there and end up been lab scientist, cab drivers or street sweepers as some of my friends.
Right now UK is very much open and they need doctors all you have to do is pass the IELTS AND PLAB exams and if after passing them and you get your GMC licence and cant get a job just send me a message and email and i can assure you of one.
Now the exams are becoming tougher and more expensive and the gates wont be open forever and UK is very unstable with policies so the earlier you jump on the boat the better. Some guys on Locum earn as much as 10k pounds monthly which is quite incredible and also compared to the quality of life.
For more information on this and more kindly send me an email to naijadocsconsulting@gmail.com.

LMAO..........na wa, i can imagine their frustration...aint easy mehn..... I might go the PLAB way eventually!...Just that i hear conflicting stories. Some people say its difficult getting a job in the uk, even after passing both PLAB1and2.........but my friend who was working in Saudi, jux moved to the uk recently after passing all.....what he tells me now is that he has got a job @ hand in manchester, he is just tryna get/process some permit papers.

These r d issues!!...wetin u fink personally?

gmyguy:

That Australia runz though...don't use all your widow's might for it...cos i don't think it's easy to pass. I think the exam is written in Greece and Australia. I know some folks who went to Greece to fail and gave up. And another to Australia to fail, and got stuck there, with no $$$. So he got a teaching job and has been teaching since. But i heard the pay is good, if you can pass the AMC, but unfortunately, the number of Nigerians there is lower than UK and USA, and d place is fing far!...not to talk of the spiders, snakes and walking lizards!!!

nOW I SEE, I GUESS MOST OF THE JOBS NIGERIANS GET ARE NON-TRAINING JOBS.....ANYWAYS HOW MUCH DO THESE NONTRAINING JOBS PAY? ARE THEY A BETTER OPTION THAN REMAINING IN NIGERIA??

angiography:

hmm....UK's conservative immigration stance is a disadvantage. Positions are only mostly guaranteed in non-training jobs. Training jobs (residency) is almost exclusive to citizens and EU nationals. I still think US gives more hope in getting residency positions...or what's ur opinion??

IS THE APPLICATION STILL ON
ElMatteo:
Is any one interested in residency in family medicine?

St. Mary's General Hospital Ibadan is presently accepting applications as they are about starting residency in family medicine.

The good thing is that u can apply even if you have not written your primaries yet. U only need to convince them that you will write it as soon as possible.

I just applied too.
