The one that baffles me is how they insult the North yet they flock here daily packed like sardines in their escape buses. Eze Nwata, Chisco, ABC, Young Shall Grow, Ekene Dili Chukwu etc all survive from helping their people escape to the same North they claim is backward despite complaining of being attacked. It did not start now either, Zik was born in 1904 in Zungeru, present day Niger state. This means his parents likely lived in the North before 1900. Same for Ojukwu who was also born in the North. The funny thing is that they still inhabit the poorest, ramshackle part of town so I used to wonder how bad it was where they were coming from until I visited Onitsha and Abia in 2012 and 2013 respectively, it was then I understood their calamity. 4 Likes |

honourhim: It is you that you should learn to use your brain. Igbos have not dominated anything. You are only here because we still feel you are still useful to us.. The moment we have sucked you dry, we will push you out. Eediot. Just continue to invest all your money and increawe our IGR more than that of your alaigbo states. And it is your tribe that should be ashamed of yourselves for being ungrateful ingrates to your amiable hosts. If we had given you the kano treatment, you would all have run away. Our own would have been worse than that of Hausa Fulani. And do you know why? We wouldn't fight you physically, but diabolically. 2 Likes |

Of course, we have made money off flaaaatheads. nobilie: My problem with this, in my view, retarded way of thinking is that every state has a governor who is allocated billions every month. And her you blame the north for your underdevelopment. This does not apply to Igbos alone but everyone who is more concerned about federal appointments for their states and other things that are less important than the billions allocated to their local governments and states slipping through their fingers everyday. When I was in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, it was an Igbo vice Chancellor starting the university. He stole a lot instead of improving the lives of the young easterners in his school with the federal funds allocated to him for that very same purpose. Leaders like that usually point to the north (or any other pple) as the cause of their problems and unfortunately, the masses follow in unison not knowing they are staring the cause of their billion dollar deficit right in the face. May God grant that all who read this thread understand. Amen 1 Like |

Igbo Americans, or Americans of Igbo
ancestry, (Igbo: Ṇ́dị́ Ígbò n'Emerịkà) are
residents of the United States who identity
as having Igbo ancestry from modern day
Nigeria. There are primarily two classes of
people with Igbo ancestry in the United
States, those whose ancestors were taken
from Igboland as a result of the
transatlantic slave trade before the 20th
century and those who immigrated from
the 20th century onwards partly as a result
of the Nigerian Civil War in the late 1960s
and economic instability in Nigeria. Igbo
people prior to the American Civil War were
brought to the United States by force from
their hinterland homes on the Bight of
Biafra and shipped by Europeans to North
America between the 17th and 19th
centuries.
Identified Igbo slaves were often described
by the ethnonyms Ibo and Ebo(e), a colonial
American rendering of the word 'Igbo'.
Some Igbo slaves were also referred to as
'bites', denoting their Bight of Biafra origin,
and other names were used in reference to
their home lands in Africa. Their presence in
the United States was met with mixed
feelings by American plantation owners
because of their 'rebellious' attitudes to
enslavement. Much of the enslaved Igbo
people in the United States were
concentrated in Virginia's lower Tidewater
region and at some points in the 18th
century they constituted over 30% of the
enslaved black population. Igbo culture
contributed to the creolised African
American culture and is perhaps evident in
such cultural vestiges as the Jonkonnu
parades of North Carolina. Igbo Americans
introduced the Igbo word okra into the
English language.
The recent migrant population from Nigeria
settled in many of the United States' larger
cities and urban centres and had come
largely in search of economic opportunities
in the late 20th century. Because of the
realities of slavery and its erasure of African
heritage and customs, most people who
identify as Igbo in the United States and
speak the Igbo language at home are from
these families that arrived in the 20th
century and forth. Since the turn of the 21st
century genealogy tracing by means of DNA
testing is in part revealing the Igbo ancestry
of African Americans, some notable
celebrities including Blair Underwood and
Quincy Jones. 1 Like |

tonychristopher: Stop fooooling yourself flaaaathead. If 90% of your business is in onitcha and nnewi, you wouldnt have been bringing your fathers, mothers, sisters, uncles, aunties, cousins, nephews, grandfathers, grandmothers and concubines down to the southwest everyday by the truckload.
