The closest I got to being scammed was a girl in high school, some almost 20 years ago. I was a prefect back then, girls liked prefects. She actually introduced herself to me in school and we started chatting from time to time whenever we saw each other in school. I thought she liked me. Back then, there were no GSMs, so I intentionally walked on her street hoping to see her outside and ask her out on a date. Eventually it happened. As broke as I was, I gathered money from siblings to take her to an eatery. If it was me alone, wetin I dey find for eatery? Buka all the way. I got to her place, we both headed to a popular eatery in Lagos. She started ordering everything. In my head, I was calculating how much the bill would be and smiling at the same time. I decided to pass my point across in the midst of all the food she was eating, and to my surprise I got a shocker. She was like "Oh, sorry I have a boyfriend, can we just be friends"? Ahhh, friends ke? I changed rightaway. I paid for the food, wrapped the remainder of what she was eating right in front of her and took it with me back home. Not sure how she got home, she could have walked, who cares. Why accept to go on a date with another man when you already have someone? Why make him spend his money and ask him to only be his friend. Only mugus want such friendship. Me and my siblings feasted on the food i took from her when I got home. I bet she would have asked for to-go afterwards if i hadn't left. SmartMugu: Lol! Your story had me in stitches! Boys are definitely not smiling! Well I have had online dating experience both in Nigeria and America. In America nobody ever asked me for money and they are usually pretty blunt. If they are not feeling you, they tell you straight up and you move on. If they are, you schedule a real date and see if you guys are compatible. I have definitely met some strange and interesting characters online i.e a lesbian couple who were married and wanted to hang out with me. I also met a sergeant from the army who doubles as a DJ and film director Nigeria First thing that happens is that they call me swts or dearie or some term of endearment. My brother if a Naija babe that you meet online calls you sweetie, run!! Because the next thing you would hear is how they are stranded or they need money for credit. One told me that her parents are very rich, but yet she asked me for transport money. I have lost count of the number that ask for credit. The conversation usually goes like this Me: Hey, whats up? Her: Not fine -- Ol boy when you hear this one, RUN! Next thing is to ask for credit Me: Why? What happened? Her: My data is finished Me: Really? Big Girl like you. Her: Can you send me like N1000 credit? Me: Deletes number right away I do enjoy online interactions but I am definitely not desperate so none of this ever works for me. What I enjoy is having a great conversation with a person online but alas most Nigerian babes seem to have lost the art of conversing. NB: I am NOT saying that Nigerian girls are gold diggers, I was simply narrating some events that happened in the past. Let me share my experience as to how I was scanned by a guy. Not only girls scam. 2012 I was just online doing my thing when this contact added me, and we got chatting. It got so interesting that we exchanged numbers and before you could say Facebook, he had proposed. Walahi I'm not lying. I was only 22 so its not like I was desperate ko. He said I should help him buy jacket with leather elbows that he'll refund me. If I hear. He made me pay for our fares and meals on the first and second date. He never ever gave me a dime. Na guys way dey smook weed girls fit scam online.........is very rare 4 a lady to scam a guy online..........let me share u my experience how a lady wanted to scam me on PALM CHAT but I in turn make a fool of her, how can u just met a guy 4 d first time u are demanding 4 money, I said ok dat she should send her account number which she did, the next. day I told her that I have send d money through mobile money transfer, she then went to d bank and try to withdraw the money but dere was no money and she called me and was like wait maybe is network, she waited and waited until she called me and told me I have scam her that I did not send any money so I started laughing........she then deleted me on palm chat with immediate effect. |

It works well for me, but not just on the dating aspect, have met a few cool guys online whom I finally got to know αи∂ we all have become friends till date.
