I think YOU will find, that in no where does the Bible relates the two statements as being conditional to each other. Men are expected to unconditionally love their wives. Wives are unconditionally expected to be submissive to their husbands.

However, there is a point I would like to point out here. The bible, it seems, unequivocally mandates that christians refrain from martial unions with unbelievers. Following this rule makes everything quite easy, a male believer WILL MOST DEFINITELY love His wife, same way for a female. But when you disobey that first rule, you begin to complicate things.

I would like to however stress that the bible does not relate the two statements as being conditional to each other. If you find yourself with a bad guy, you are to unconditionally be submissive to him. And as a male, if you find yourself with a cheater, you are to unconditionally lover her. As long as you are joined in marriage.
