Please those that have learn German help me out, I have begin to learn German on my own using the tactics that I used to learn French, but I find out that German is very difficult to learn, Reason is because German language has different word that has the same meaning unlike in English, like example in English, the word "look" is used as look in any context e.g come and look at it, that your look is bad, in German the a word have different words meaning the same thing but depending on the context it is been used eg look have words like: Guck mall,Blick, sieh, augenaufechlag etc, come=gekommen, eingekehrt, kommen, Food=Essen, kost, speise, nahrung, lebesmittel while in english words like down is down, please how can I differentiate and know when to use a particular word for a context, e.g I want the marriage. marriage =ehe, heir at,vermahlung, trauung, which word will I use as marriage in this sentence also is there English-German dictionary.

You are getting it wrong. In English, there are also multiple synonyms for the same word. I may not be able to recall examples right now but I know they are. When learning a new language understand that it takes time to absorb vocabulary and so don't rush yourself with this. Even in English, there are some words that you only ever heard for the first time at maybe age 17. So with this new language you have to be patient.

My advice is this: focus on learning the German grammar including topics like the pronouns and how the verbs are declined with each pronoun and also the exceptional verbs that don't follow the predefined pattern of declension. Dont ask questions like why do we say "brauchen, er bracuht" but then we say "helfen, er hilft". Asking such questions is like asking that why do we say "went" as the past tense of "go". We don't know why we say these things: we just met the language that way. I noticed a few people at the A1 course I attended last month didn't make much progress because instead of focusing on the learning they were asking such questions.

As you learn grammar daily, endeavor to memorise about ten words daily. And try to form playful sentences with these words based on the grammar you learnt. For example if you learn the modal verb "wollen", you can form a sentence like "Ich will meine Eltern anrufen" or "Du willst deine Wohnung aufraumen". Sorry I cant do the Umlaut on aufraumen cheesy .

With every passing day you will get better with the grammar and your vocabulary base will increase. Along the line you will then begin to encounter new words that have the same English meanings as those words you learnt earlier. It is at this stage that synonyms come into play. It is very difficult if you think you can just start memorising synonyms altogether. Even as an English speaker, you didn't learm synonyms all at once apart from the basic antonyms amd synonyms lessons in primary and JSS and even that took you a few years. It will take time so you have to understand that.

Once you have picked up sufficient vocabs (say 500 words) you cam them download level A1 story books and read to further improve your reading skills and learn one or two extra words. You can also add a few A1 listening mp3s to the mix.

Start with this and let is see how far you go. All the best

My advise is to learn the present tense first. Don't learn (sprechen-gesprochen) at thesame time. It will all get u confused. Learn first to speak in present. Start by learning all präpositionen mit Dativ, then the ones with accusative. Then u can learn verbs ( in present form) with their prepositions... For example (riechen=smell and comes with preposition nach(dativ) or waten=wait and comes with preposition auf (wechsel) preposition. First learn in the present, learn all prepositions u can think of ( dativ- mit, von, zu, aus, bei, nach. Akkusativ - um, durch, gegen,für, ohne. Wechsel- auf, in, neben, hinter, vorne, zwischen and so on.... After this, learn how to conjugate all verbs u have learned and try to form sentences with them... U must learn der-den-dem (masculin nom, akk and dative) depending on what preposition or die-die-der(feminine nom,akk and dative) or das-das-dem(neutrum nom, akk nd dative respectively) or die-die-den(plural nominative, akk n dative respectively.)
It's not easy to learn but with the right strategy u will start making correct sentences in no time...
I am bad at explaining so I hope u understand all I just wrote .

Hi... I know it's difficult. But start like this. German is not thesame as English or French. That system simply will not work. U can't learn not present and past at thesame time( kommen-gekommen). U must learn basic verbs in German and the prepositions which they come with. For example the first thing to learn in my opinion with every verb is (eg. Riechen which means to smell or to seem depending on what context comes with the preposition 'nach'. That makes it a verb with dative. Or warten which means to wait and comes with the prep 'auf' which is a wechsel preposition.
U must start from learning prapositionen mit dative (mit, von,zu,aus, bei, nach) and with Akkusativ (um,durch,gegen,für,ohne).....wechsel preposition(in,auf,an,neben, hinter, neben, zwischen etc) ... After learning this together with a few basic verbs, u can go to the articles for every noun u start learning. Maskuline changes depending on the prepositions used ( der-den-dem= nominative, akk, dativ respectively) (die-die-der as seen in the first instance for feminine,) (das, das, dem for neutrum), (die-die-den for plural) I know it looks a bit confusing but it will come....
Wo and Wohin is the main thing that determines whether it's going to be akk or dative. For example, Wo is position, and Wohin is action.
Ich setze mich auf den Tisch.that was action. (Wohin)
Der Mann sitzt auf dem Tisch. Thats Wo(Position) . Ist quite hard for me to explain this nur this is the best that i Can do. U can start forming sentences once u learn prepositions and u know when a question is position or action.... Good luck! U can ask questions. I'll be glad to answer them
