I wonder if there is a way to paint over a rusting roof with metallic paint so that looks new again. Not everyone has money to replace with stone coated roof or longspan aluminium
Why can't they use cameroun zinc, at least it if fine and affordable, i have seen places like this in Lima, but the only difference is that most of the buildings there are painted and well maintained.

Ibadan will never destroy those parts of the city! It is our heritage! Although amenities such as good roads and bla bla can be provided. They should concentrate on areas like Apata, Basorun, Moniya, Iwo road etc

Fools like the Op in their desperation to degrade people of other tribe only see what they want to see, even at that the pix is of yemetu and taken from atop agala hill, that area is still a very nice neighborhood to live. Every old city has inner city area and new areas, mostly the inner city contains old buildings and ruins. All said ibadan is among the first 5 cities in Nigeria.
Wa gbayi! I grew up in Yemetu Barracks/Total garden

No one is saying totally destroy, but the whole of Bere, spread out to Yemetu n environs need a makeover.
Heck, the way those houses are packed, coupled with the makeshift markets that spring up,from Sapati down towards Paadi for instance, make that area a nightmare for road users n residents alike

The difference is the height. Less availability of land lead to multifloor buildings in Southeast. Finally 90% of cities in the Southeast were non-existent as at 1900. Ndigbo kwuru si onye bu madu uzo whuo nri bukwa ya uzo nwee ajo ite.
Asaba, Onitcha, Awka, Aba were non-existent as at when?

lol what does geology have to do with the subject at hand?
Let your credentials be your credentials but don't use them to confuse yourself into permanent over-sabi of subjects that it doesn't effect.

in planning his 1841 expedition up the Niger;9 by 1857, as we have seen, Crowther had established a permanent station at Onitsha

From March, 1859, to March, 1860, nearly 1,600 bales have been imported into Liverpool alone, and 1,847 bales into London ... A cotton trade is about to be established at Onitsha, under the auspices of an industrial institution in London.

Sincerely if you change the roofs to stonecoated and repaint the houses, its no different from highbrow areas of our major cities. I think these places must have looked very beautiful when they were newly developed.
Ewu you are not ashame of yourself, you can defend those rubbish mod houses but when you see super structures in Southeast you label them Igbotic.

You're right about when those places were first developed.....the Brazilian/portugese architecture that's so much superior than the contemporary Nigerian design in aesthetics have been lost. The landscape of Ibadan reminds of places like San Fransisco, Monaco with hills running for running for miles and into another.....Ibadan has a great potential.

Re: Typical Ibadan Neighbourhood by oclem911: 4:46pm On Sep 04, 2015
I would have agreed if I have never been to Ibadan. The city is so big that you will find neighborhood of all shades and structures. some extremely beautiful like u find anywhere else in the world. it is shameful for the op to generalise in this manner. in my opinion, Ibadan still ranks among among top 5 cities in Nigeria. Thanks
