I agree with MizMyColi in her line of argument. It was Punch that observed the missing portrait and tried to verify from Metuh. When Metuh challenged the Punch to find out from APC whether GEJ portrait was hanged by APC, the Punch should have specifically and explicitly asked Lai about that. Instead, it only went to report its findings in PDP secretariat to Lai. Hanging of the portrait of the high officers of the state is just a convention not backed by law. Courts in Nigeria even Supreme Court stopped hanging the President's portraits in the courtrooms since 1988 under IBB regime when Gani and Falana challenged the practice saying they would not get justice against IBB with his portrait starring down at the judge. Between 1979 and 1999, Ahmadu Bello University refused to include the portrait of Obasanjo (as military head of state) among the portraits of former heads of state in its Senate building. Heaven did not fall. |

Meiji:Look Mr. You don't go the "No Comments" path when an issue is glaring for verification. If Metuh had said No comment, I as a GEJ supporter, will want to know why. I will be among those to curse Metuh because saying "no comments" would simply mean that they have Bad belle towards Mr president. It's like saying "We don't have a reason".... Those two words will spark a massive outburst from different circles. Even I as a GEJ supporter cannot claim to be heavily partisan. But the PDP is a heavily partisan party, and like it or not, Buhari and everything APC is a rival. Mr Lai Mohammed knows this and that's why he couldn't comment more than he did, lest his words come back to bite him in the arse. If he hadn't made these clarifications, I will question him on why they did not hang the portrait of Mr president. But he said the truth which I will now juggle your memory with, and which all heavily partisan political parties know.....which is also why it was considered a non-issue when APC didn't hang Jona's. “We will never hang his portrait in this office, because President Buhari is not known to our party. He is not a leader of our party and therefore we will never put his portrait here. We are a political party, very partisan and therefore, we are not going to hide that,”Metuh gave valid reasons. It is the same reason APC did not put Jona's up. It is the same reason Republicans do not put Obama's up. Those who have a problem with it can go dip their fingers in a pot of boiling soup. |

2n2k:The issue here is metuh should have ignored the reporter and not tell a widely read national newspaper that someone's picture is not on their wall, that was childish as all the ABU and courts you mentioned have not told any journalist that they don't hang any one's picture on their wall who gives a damn on what is in pdp's bedroom. |

Haba, PDP please stop playing politics that will affect you the more. Buhari is the president of this country and Nigerians should admit that and support him. If PDP refused to hang his picture in their office, it is a big shame unto them. However, Buhari is not bothered about that, but they should know that Nigerians are watching them. |

Hehehehe....I just they laugh Mizmycoli 4dis thread...you would even do worse than metuh as beremx posited! I had suggested to Mizmycoli to quit politics board...even mukina2 made similar suggestion...Now see what she's fast turning into ![]() Back to the topic, answer this question Mizmycoli...if as a lady, a friend of urs refused to attend ur wedding or any function of urs (just assuming), and u made up ur mind to reciprocate the friend's gesture; would it be SENSIBLE to come out stating in public that the reason you are not obliging or would not accept the persons(ur friend) invitation is because the person neglected urs ![]() ![]() ?Metuh should learn from Mohammed...else you guys can kiss 2019 goodbye...Take it from me, what made APCs opposition sound was due to the irresponsible nature of PDPs govt and they opposed with LOVE and MATURITY unlike what we are seeing now, pure HATRED sandwiched with PETTINESS... *MODIFIED* As some1 rightly said, they MISSED a golden opportunity to warm themselves into the hearts of Nigerians... What would it cost him and his party to chip-in a white lie..such as 'the former portrait got broken few days back, and we have handed it over to a contractor who would do a more magnifient one' or something of that Nature... Him being openly candid on the issue would boomranged seriously on him and his party...In the long run, Nigerians wouldnt take their criticisms serious again... FFK would be dissapointed in Metuh.. |

realborn:No party would lose presidency and still be very strong in Nigeria or even Africa, considering the kind of politics we play, lack of real party ideologies and the ease of defections. It's expected, cos many politicians clinged to PDP solely because they were in power. If APC loses tomorrow, a worse fate would even befall them cos even as the ruling party, they are not united. PDP during it's heyday didn't have as many factions as APC does currently. Let there just be a real crack in the fabrics of APC, and see the party collapse at the national level. Regional or state politics is a different ball game. PDP may be failing at the national level, but it is still a very potent force in the south east and south south. The Tinubu factor you mentioned only becomes applicable when considering south west APC. Tinubu doesn't have what it takes to hold APC at the national level. Hope the turn out of things so far has shown you that APC North (CPC + ANPP) is completely different from APC South West (ACN). |

cccxxiii:How many of APC's promises have APC and Buhari kept? Promises made during campaigns but are being denied on a daily basis. PDP said that it is very partisan, and that is it. It is a political party and not a government agency. They are at liberty not to hang Buhari's picture there. Let me ask you, is Buhari's picture hanging on the wall of your living room? If it isn't, then please spare us the sermon. |

Kennydoc:I agree with most of your views. However, the APC shows that there was a concerted conscious strategy to hold the Party together for a cause, " to wrestle power from PDP", which they achieved. PDP must in similar vein develop a strategy to reclaim the mantle in 2019. The process may start from understanding the root cause of their loss beyond chanting propaganda. Secondly, there is a need to study what APC did to win. Lastly, need to study what the electorate wants and temperament of same. I agree with you that APC needs to check their supposed alliance before it consumes them. I don't believe there is any law saying that the PDP should hang the portrait of Buhari on the walls of their secretariat. I was able to visit a couple of APC party offices while Goodluck Jonathan was President, and they never had his portrait on their walls. I don't understand why this should be an issue. In the case of PDP governed states, I think it is compulsory for them to hang the portrait of the President in some official buildings, especially Federal Government building, I don't know about State Government buildings. |

realborn:I understand that this is a public forum and as such have a right to quote anyone I may. Still, let me ask for permission to wade in ![]() I prefer to mingle with political discussants who aren't heavily partisan. The part where you mentioned "what APC did to win" got me. Infact, the three points you put down all boils down to one thing. The media and Sensationalism. I will also like to submit here, that while a typical Pro-APC will like to waive off the "Propaganda" charm...It did play a huge part, which leads me to the sensationalism I was on about earlier. You see, in Nigeria....I have made peace with the fact that there are Kingmakers. And when they anoint a candidate, the onus lies on their Hench men to employ whatever means necessary to sell such individual to the Nigerian populace. The media played and still plays a major role in all these. This is where I blame the leadership of the PDP, it is either Jona (bless his kind soul) was tired of leadership and hence was distributing money to all and sundry to do the bulk of the work for him, without really getting people sold in on his vision to rule again (if he did, FFK would be nowhere near PDP) or the PDP played a crass annoying game of arrogance, highfalutiness, redundancy and negligence. OR the elections were rigged. That said, I see a restructuring going on in PDP, I see them entering the game with a different kind of machinery and front....The youths. Depending on their (the youths and the party) sincerity of purpose, and APC's heavy dependence on media machinery, things could either pan out really well for them or go really south. Besides ![]() With what I hear is going on at the HQ, and how sincere they are at revamping and restructuring....I just might get a PDP card and put my money where my mouth is. |

realborn:Ur response was so on point. I've always told people, APC played a much more mature politics during the elections than PDP. That was what fetched them victory. PDP will need a gross failure of APC to come back to power, but sadly for PDP, I don't see that happening even in the next 12 years. I hated PDP's atrocities during it's reign. I wished for it's downfall but I never desired APC to be the replacement. I was hoping for a party with a more nationalistic outlook. Unfortunately or fortunately (depending on your side of the divide), APC is now in power. May God's name still be praised for everything. |
