Hmm 65 trainee officers.. No advert , nothing they just employ their relatives.. Carry go baba
My dear brother, DSS does not advertise jobs in newspapers. It is a secret service and thats how it has always been.

But come to think of it,when were this positions advertised? I guess the affected candidates are related to relations of Ogas at top.
misinformation leads to deformation, be informed n stay informed.
dss thread is on the job section, I applied, was called for the exams, wrote it n unfortunately didnt make it. so stop saying ill about this issue, dss even try to post advertorials concerning recruitment, they even have functional website, but can we speak same of customs n excise? as I speak custom dont hv a functional website, that is why fraudsters r hving field day defrauding innocent job seekers n the previous comptroller is yet to be called to answer question hw he ran the agency, is baba not shieldng people in this acclaimed fight in corruption?
what is bad is bad but when people who we think will do what is good still indulge in wht is bad then all hope is lost.

While those people remain outside the DSS, owing to the training they've had, the security agency will be watching them closely.
The DSS and others have too much to do now -chasing intel on Boko Haram, militants etc. I guarantee you that they dont have the resources to adequately monitor those sacked.

Your statement completely contradicts itself.

How do you expect someone obviously because of his lack of intellectual capacity (which basically is what the quota system exhibits on a state by state basis) be able to turn things around?

Have you really interacted with these people before? For real?

So technically you're assuming the north is more competent than the south?
I'm not assuming; I know the north is as competent as the south and unfortunately the society is more honest than the most modernised southern states corrupted by right wing capitalism and flagarant corruption.

i think Their recruitment process wasn't legit, but again I believe it's a waste of government resources to dismiss this significant number. We will wait for what the DSS will have to say about this move.
DSS will not say anything about it publicly. There is more to what is going on and to what we read about in the media. This is a public forum and not all can be said here. There is a time for everything. No further comments!

The truth is that this man would only succeed in deepening the rift in this nation with these kind of actions.

Honestly , I don't see him completing his time on that seat without running into some serious problems with some other interests - it's just a matter of time.
He's simply too archaic to lead a modern Nigeria .
We told the kids chanting CHANGE but they wouldn't listen. He's too old for a modern Nigeria. His mindset, his background and beliefs are all too inappropriate for this day nations.

I wish him well!

So hw do they put out vacancies? Just curious
They send signals to their various commands and traditionally, it is by word of mouth or personal recommendation of their staff. Those who are informed of how it works won’t deny this -you often find someone whose dad or mum worked there, to also work there. Of course, they also spread the information informally. They may be exception, but don’t publish in Newspapers normally! Also, Ogar as PRO was a rare deviation as in; DSS also did not really have designated PROs in the open media space. You'll notice, the new management has also gone back to the old format more or less -just issuing statements. Infact, back in the NSO days, they rarely issued public statements.

Sorry sir. He is NOT a liar. DSS normally doesnt advertise publicly. Even its jobs are discussed on Nairaland and other fora, the source is usually informal like man know man. They may be exceptions but they rarely do that. Have a blessed weekend sir.

Exposing them to these trainings only to sack them thereafter is no good news to the society.

What if some bad elements in their midst decides to align with the dreaded Boko Haram members to continue wrecking havoc in the society?

Even though many of them were employed by the DSS via nepotism, I really don't think it is wise to lay them off like this, the level of information and intelligence they've been exposed to shouldn't be compromised.

Like one of the trainee said, they should have been absorb by the police or even Civil Defense Corps.
so na police and civil defence be dumping ground? That is the reason our Police will never serve us well when we keep looking at it like a dumping ground. Why won't they draft them to the army that needs personel in sambisa to fight boko haram?

I must be a northerner to speak truth to life, so you expect me to lie and bring forth ethnic diatribe in order to denigrate a people. I'm a Nigerian that's all you need to know

Maybe it's time you decide where your allegiance lies also

I will need to see why they were fired before I support or oppose.

I am leaning towards opposing right now though
This is the best position to take. Things got seriously bastardized under GEJ. Ogar, for example, spoke with total abandon and with no consideration for the high level of professionalism her office demanded. This may just be a 'cleansing' of the DSS to make it more effective. The article hints a relative of Ogar is involved to deliberately indict Buhari of vindictiveness and whip up primordial sentiments in Nigerians since everyone knows this is always easy to achieve for a people that is very divided and emotional.

Yet the fact is that the new boss of the DSS may just be reversing abuse of power, nepotism and perhaps even an agenda of ethnically perverting an important security parastatal. The bottom line is that we don't know the definitive answer as per what the truth is. We have to let those who head these security agencies get on with their jobs and give them the benefit of the doubt. Even the President and Prime minister of the USA and UK do not know why the FBI and M15 bosses take certain decisions. It is only in Nigeria we have to make a fuss when there is no need for such.

MANY DONT KNOW THEIR RIGHTS. THEIR LETTERS OF APPT, HAS CERTAIN CLAUSES AT THE BACK. READ THEM VERY WELL==MEET A LAWYER AND GO TO COURT. SAME THING IS HAPPENING IN IMMIGRATION SERVICES. ALL NEW OFFICERS WERE ASK TO GO.===BUT MOST OF THEM DONT KNOW THEIR RIGHTS. BY MY LETTER OF APPT WHICH I HAVE READ VERY WELL,-- NO BODY CAN ASK ME TO GO LIKE THAT== WE SHALL REACH WORLD COURT. ===PERIOD.

Indeed. Jonathan created an environment where government and public officials everywhere grossly lost their head, their devotion to core duty and their professionalism. It is now time for all that to be reversed.

Acidosis:
ISIS will gladly welcome these trainees.
What a stu!pid government. Buhari is indeed an absolute dullard.
What a stu!pid thing to say!

You have assumed that because these individuals joined a security agency at one point in time, all they are interested in is war and dying young. From the article, its clear they were destined for analyst positions (i.e desk jobs) in other words these ones are soft! I guarantee you most these people will still end up with high paying private sector jobs--the same connections that got them into the DSS can most probably still sneak them in somewhere else. Why do you assume that the likes of Marylin Ogar's sister, Ostensibly a christian, would even have the remotest interest in joining ISIS? Why do you assume that for a young, probably smart and hitherto somewhat patriotic Nigerian, career paths in life are either DSS or ISIS? What does ISIS even have to do with anything??

I will tell you why you have made these assumptions sir. It is because you woke up this morning and decided not to think before you talk!

These people don't engage their senses at all......when these officers start terrorising the country now, with their acquired skills, just to lo pay them back or make ends meet....I don't get it in this country! Don't they have work unions or something, cos you can't just terminate appointments, even without prior notice.
