FG To Arraign Senate President Over False Asset Declaration On Friday by Dmcool(m): 7:39pm On Sep 16, 2015
The Federal Government will, on Friday, arraign the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Abuja, over allegations bordering on false and improper declaration of assets allegedly acquired during his tenure as governor of Kwara State from 2003 to 2011.

The 13-count charge against Saraki, Tribune Online gathered, was filed before the tribunal by the Code of Conduct Bureau through the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation.

A source at the Code of Conduct Tribunal told Tribune Online that the Senate President had been served with the charge sheet and would be arraigned on Friday. Count one of the 13-count charge reads: "That you, Dr. Bukola Saraki, while being the executive governor of Kwara State on or about 16th September, 2003 within the jurisdiction of this tribunal, did make a false declaration in assets declaration form for public officers on assumption of office as governor of Kwara State by making an anticipatory asset declaration in that you claimed to have owned and acquired No. 15A and N0. 15B, McDonald Ikoyi, Lagos, through your company, Carlisle Properties Limited in 2006 when the said property was in actual fact sold by the Implementation Committee on Federal Government landed property in 2006 to your companies, Tiny Tee Limited and Vitti Oil Limited for the aggregate sum of N396,150, 000 and you hereby committed an offence under Section 15 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, Cap C15, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 and incorporated under paragraph 11(1) and (2) of Part 1, 5th schedule to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and punishable under Section 23(2) of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act and incorporated under paragraph 18 of part 1, 5th schedule to the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).

According to the charge sheet, Saraki was also accused of operating an American Express credit card account during his tenure as governor, where he allegedly wired at least $3.4 million from a Nigerian account. The law bars public officers from operating foreign bank accounts while in service.

This blow if confirmed, is deft, speedy and decisive.

Saraki should have punched within his weight class.

I won't be surprise if Saraki is found guilty and butted out of office. This man definitely has a lot of cases hanging in his neck, from the House order forgery, Wife's case with EFCC, his case with the police on the alleged misappropriating of father's company money, False asset declaration among others.

The Seat of Senate president should be occupied with people with integrity and of no questionable character. I know Saraki can go any length so as to satisfy his heart desires. His antecedents in kwara state and how he emerged as senate president are clear testimonies to this. I suggests he should honorably resign and clear the cases hanging on his neck.

If you arrest him today, Ekweremadu will continue as Senate President. So where are you running to?  Even if you remove him via  arrest  and put him in prison, he is still our Senate President until we impeach him

Anyway i dont see Saraki spending one second in detention

Buhari's body language suggests he does not need ministers. If his nominees are not confirmed by senate, they will be helping him out.

You just hit the nail on the head, without knowing it. This is a surreptitious way of ending the month without appointing any ministers. The President is trying to create a feud that will put the blame for not being able to appoint ministers at the doorsteps of the senate. The fact is that PMB, knows the dirty politics his brothers played against the last administration by using their positions to undermine the Ex- President. This is what he is trying to avoid. There is no ministerial list, that is a fact

Bukola Saraki would soon realize that the guys in PDP just used him to settle scores with the guys in APC and not that they love him as the senate president.
Referring to a legal giant like Osinbajo as a mere commissioner is the height of careless talk of the so called Senate President.

Your messiah is using this as a smoke screen to postpone his deadline for ministerial appointments. You are here talking about rats and cats, in relation to an issue that is DOA.

Olodo saraki is ten times more powerful than ordinaru commissioner Osinbanjo.Unless Buhari does not want to have his ministerial nominees confirmed,he would not move against him.

The FG have my undivided support in the prosecution of Senator Bukola Saraki. His offence is weighty and criminal in nature. He should prove his innocence to the Judge.

PS: This probably is the only area that I've come to terms with this administration since they came to power. #Power To The People.

Bros, make Saraki prove himself to the judge. In his absence the DSP go preside over the affairs of the Senate.

Who told you PMB is after ministerial confirmation. You need ministers , he nominates so if not confirmed is none of his business. Saraki should know from day one that APC will fight back.

Lol bros you do not really understand how powerful the senate really is!!! Ministries and parastatals would need to have their budgets approved by the senate as well!! They can ground the government if they so wishes!! Unless Saraki loses support of majority of the senators, there is nothing the APC can do to him

First of all, the senate president cannot stop the confirmation of all the ministers. he can only stop some that have issues. Secondly the senate president does not have absolute power in the senate. Senate president is more or less an advanced form of class prefect among the senators.

Again, Buhari can name them acting ministers should the senate deliberately delay the nomination. Although I don't thnk Nigeria has experienced acting minister in d past.
Note the senate cannot impeach d president. to impeach d president u need two-third of both house of rep and senate.

The speaker Dogara is Buhari boy.

Buhari does not want to appoint minsiters.

It is time for the senators to stand with their own or the executive will rubbish him.

If Saraki survives this, it is gonna be hell of a ride for Buhari. He better be sure he will wrap it up.
