Eziachi:I am not making excuses for Saraki but the motive behind it is very questionable. How come the CCB never invited Saraki to come and clarify the issues before being charge to court without proper notification? No matter the side you belong, due process must be followed or we risk using the institutions for abuse and witch hunting of political enemies. More so, I don't see anything wrong in Saraki going to court to enforce his fundamental rights. |

@OP its far better to have a corrupt society where everyone is treated fairly and free to be corrupt than one where once u are in the opposition u are made scapegoats. Its the early beging of the breeding of a dictatorial society. That's the worst typa society. No one truly loves saraki but when u look a ppl like tinubu, amechi, obansanjo even the so called buhari then u wonder the type of corruption fighting this govt is carrying out. What's even disturbing is the organized way this withchunting is carried out in connivance with the press who also seek to stampede anyone who cries foul play. Corruption impedes a society from development but lack of fairness totally destroys its foundation. |

Interesting that PA EZICHIE is defending same Buhari that refused to appear before Oputa penal to defend himself. Its more worrying when someone like PA Ezichie is singing the praises of same Buhari that said that Abacha NEVER stole inspite of the billions that have been recovered from him and yet still maintains that stance to date. If Buhari can declare Abacha corruption, what moral justification does he and his govt have to claim that another person is corrupt? |

I have read many threads here on nairaland and I can conclude that " The people shouting witch hunt as regards to Saraki case are the people shouting that Wike should probe Amaechi and the people shouting witch hunt in Amaechi's case are the people calling for the arrest of Saraki". It smacks of the highest point of hypocrisy when you stand on two sides on two cases that are similar. |

warrior01:Unintelligent rumor mongering, innuendoes and baseless fixation on certificate and corruption charges and criminal court case are two different things. Was PMB charged to any court to defend himself against certificate or anything in any court of law? No. Must you people always come up with the most ridiculous, absurd and unintelligent nonsense? |

stanech:Well if you decide that it's eliminating competition. A team that wants to win will not deliberately field their player serving a red card ban in a match against their fiercest rival. If Saraki is clean,he should have nothing to fear about whoever his so called competitors are. He will even be shouting hallelujah on the mere mention of court, rather than running away from it. On the other hand if he has something to fear, the most sensible thing to do would had been to lie low and play a low-key politics. If I steal your car, the last thing I will to would be to turn up for church in the same place you worship with the same stolen car and expect not to rumbled. |

The Negro, as already observed, exhibits the natural man in his completely wild and untamed state. We must lay aside all thought of reverence and morality- all that we call feeling-if we would rightly comprehend him; there is nothing harmonious with humanity to be found in this type of characterGeorg Hegel on Africa. |

chosen04:Some of you should use your intellectual capacity as humans. Don't confuse things. Oputa panel wasn't a court. It was a reconciliation committee set up by the government based on a popular demand and not on any strong legal backing. At the time I said that the government should have worked with national assembly to pass a law that will legally back the panel as a constituted authority under the law, which can subpoena anyone without having a choice to appear before it. They did not do that. I also said at the time that if I were any of the protagonist, I will never appear before the panel because it's a meaningless exercise, if its not legally binding. And I was right, because in the end , it became a comedy show for the likes Abacha's ADC Mustapha and others and what happened to panel's report? Dustbin. Saraki was not mandated to appear before a non judicial panel whose members included some priests and Labour leaders. He was being summoned to appear before the court of law through a legally consituted authority called Code of Conduct Bureau. Forget politics, leave aside your dislike for Buhari and use your brain. And stop comparing cassava with Mango because you are playing Nigeria sectional politics. Am too smart and old for that. |

OP, very awesome write-up I really wish more Nigerians would think this way. The politicians always shouting witch-hunt are usually the guilty ones. Like someone said, if truly this is a witch-hunt, he should have been the first person to show up in court to defend himself and shame his opponents. That'll actually make him more popular and make him a more powerful figure. This hide and seek he's playing just makes him look weak and guilty. Tinubu sat down there rubbing his chin, acting cool as a cucumber because he knew what they charged him with didn't hold water. This is not saying Tinubu is innocent of corruption. Same way if Saraki knows what they're charging him with is false, he needs to show up in court in his best agbadas and suits soaking up the limelight and waiting for the charade to play out. |

JustCalMeDBoss:Then what is your definition of corruption? Corruption is not restricted to stealing Naira and Kobo. How did you figure out theory of livng in corrupt society with an equallty treatment.? Equality meant that no one is above the law, starting with Buhari, Saraki or anyone else. I had never heard about your kind of society anywhere. |

Eziachi:Oga, I'm not a lawyer my post is based on your rational emotive political perspective and you know it. I put it to you that you have already convicted saraki and it's based on what you think. Or have the court pronounced saraki guilty? Whatever rational you think places buhari, tinubu, fashola, amaechi, aisha buhari etc in right standing, will also apply to saraki except based on your emotional political leaning. That's my point. Had saraki not gone against the tide, will this issues arise? Did you make this position when fashola had his travails? Or you ignored it because of what you think is corruption and those you think defines corruption? I don't give a damn about saraki but same with tinubu. You are obviously waiting for him to be convicted before you agree that he perpetrated and perpetuated corruption for all it's worth? Now saraki would never have gone through this route had he not taken his political destiny in his hands. I believe you got the point now. Don't also forget that anyone who attempts to prob the power sector gets silenced. |

Eziachi: What a country and what a people!!g ndcide:From this is your shallow and myopic response to the plain truth as pointed out to you by the OP? You see, the hatred for PMB and the APC as a political party by some of you folks has actually beclouded your sense of reasoning. It's quite appalling if this is all you have to say having read this post, that is if you even actually did. |
| Re: Saraki: Nigerians Actually Love Corruption But Pretend To Hate It by aresa: 6:12pm On Sep 18, 2015 |
ndcide:Asking Saraki to do what noble and respectable citizens do by appearing in a court of law to defend himself and convicting him before court judgement are two diffrent things. You really need to worry more about your own flawed ability to properly read and comprehend simple English words... |

Pa Eziachi, did you lend your voice so when Amaechi got a court injunction barring any agency from probing him Your topic and your post has indicted you for hypocrisy. |

frankyychiji:If I were you I will read, study and knew facts before saying things. I cannot remember Amaechi being charged by a legally established like the CCB. Or you referring to Wike's panel? Wike panel is no difference from OBJ s Oputa panel that has no legal standing. I don't give a rat about Amaechi or anyone else. What Wike would have done was to conduct his internal thorough investigation, collect all the crucial evidence and hand over the evidence to those mandated by law to do it, like they did in Jigawa. Not rushing to set up a panel with no constitutional or legal power to subpoena anyone and you expect them to go? Alternatively the Rivers State assembly should have pass a law consituting the panel that will give it a legal underpin but that takes time but Wike was in a hurry. You guys should stop rationing crime. What about him as defence doesn't sit well with me. |

Eziachi:My question is, what did you do or say when Amaechi got a court injunction and was bragging all over the place that nobody can touch him? Please who told you the panel has no constitutional backing? Was that Amaechis reason for not showing up or was it because he felt he would not get a fair hearing from what he describes as the composition of the panel? Selective amnesia is what is going to do Apc in. From now till another one year, Nigerians would begin to see the very reason Apc wanted power by all means possible. |
