Please what are u trying to say, I mean what message are u trying to pass across? I like this write up and will suggest that we all come together to support it.
I am saying that we should build Obiaku seaport and develop the eastern region. This is the way we can bring industrialisation down to the east. The governors will try their best with what the federal govt is giving them but they will not develop the region the way it should be.

The government cannot do everything.

Many roads Obi left at 50% completed have all been abandoned.

Shhh! Aguleri-Otuocha-Umueri axis should be developed because that is where the future of Anambra lies- Orient Petroleum Refinery, Petrochemical plant, Anambra International Cargo Airport, etc. I support the moves so far!

i agree with you on the refinery, power plant etc, but that cargo thing, na you sabi.
if they can just make sure they build the refinery and petrol chem plant and bridges opening the area first, before sinking money on that cargo thing. i will be glad.

That cargo thing is likely to be a white elephant project and worse still, it will require the federal government and FAAN to grant permission for aircrafts to land there. We know what that means.

You need to see the multiple dual carriageways Obiano is doing to connect the International Airport in that axis. We should never concentrate development alone in just one place be it administrative city or commercial/economic city. Let the development spread state-wide that is the real thing. I keep saying it Obiano has foresight because he realized that the future of Anambra lies with the Anambra North.

We need that area to spread development that will eventually connect Onitsha and Awka as one mega metropolis with Aguleri at the north end and Nnewi/ Ihiala at the south end.

It is the proper thing to do for the future of Anambra state.

International Cargo Airport is a done deal because it is a PPP project. Their investment partners came fromTurkey 2 weeks ago when they visited the site. Anambra's contribution to the project is just the land and road infrastructures which the investors came to confirm.

Improving Internally Generated Revenue has been described as the panacea for sustaining the tempo of development in the state.

Governor Willie Obiano stated this during a familiarization visit by a team of foreign Investors from Turkey, Italy and China at the Government House, Awka.

Ejike Abana, reports that the visit was aimed at examining the modalities involved in construction of a Cargo airport in the state.

While reiterating that his administration has restructured the operations of the Board of Internally Revenue Service to make it more responsive and accountable, Governor Obiano, represented by his Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke, said it is also one of the ways to increase the revenue profile of the state for sustainable development.

Governor Obiano pointed out that the Cargo Airport is one of the facilities needed in the state, bearing in mind that Anambra State is an Industrial hub of the country.

Governor Obiano, who said that the state is already in the process of exploiting its oil, expressed optimism that the Cargo Airport will be of maximum benefit, when completed.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Chief Tony Okowa, while appreciating Governor Obiano for the warm reception accorded them said that the visit has helped in establishing modalities that will help them embark on the project, adding that they will come back in two weeks time for further negotiations and actions.

The Chairman of the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), Chief Joe Billy Ekwunife, who was also present at the event, expressed confidence in the team’s ability to do a quality job.

[b]In a vote of thanks, Chief Ekene Enefe, while assuring the investors that the state is the best place to invest, appreciated them for deeming it wise to invest in the state, expressing optimism that the visit will be fruitful.

I love the idea that the state is distributing the development to different parts of the state and not concentrating in one region alone. This will widen the development in the state.

The truth is that, the state governor is trying and I have to give him kudos in his attempt to open up the state. The problem I have with my people is the way they litter the environment where they live. The government should try as much as possible to post billboards and pamphlets educating people to stop dumping dustbins in public places. It is very important. Even with the fine structures in anambra state, the state still look dirty or is it the camera they used in covering most videos I watch?

The governor can't do it alone, in your own small measure, we can help in distributing pamphlets stressing the importance of keeping the environment clean. Rome was not built in a day but let's start building a better foundation for our land.

I said it that the future of Anambra lies in this region. We need to treat them well as they lay the golden egg for the future of Anambra. They are hosting the Refinery, Airport, Power plant, Petrochemical plant etc.

I am not here to derail this thread but I am here to enlighten many of us of the possibilities the eastern part of the country can give to its people.

We have two access to the sea, though, its alittle far from the sea but God knows why he did that for us. He knows that we aren't lazy and we can do something about our situation when the need arises. I know my people are deep-thinkers and know that we're the light of Africa in many aspects. If you look well at the Nigerian Map, you'll see that we have direct access to the different parts of the country without difficulty. Please note that this is a blessing in all ramifications.

Please, I want you all to also understand, we don't have governors who have large pool of cash to spend and our states cannot get such loans from any part of the world without our help. I need you all not to look at this things as unnecessary but think deep and see the importance of this message. What our governors are doing will only develop our region alittle no matter how they try to develop it. The sincere truth is that we're the only ones that can develop this region from our collective efforts and forgetting the fact that we're from different states.

What am I saying? No matter how huge the money needed to create this seaport, we can bring it out from collective effort and see our region develop in an astronomic pace. We don't need the ones in akwa-ibom nor the one in calabar. We need the one in Abia and Imo states. Abia seaport being a priority of the two. If this seaport is finished, by the special grace of God. The region will witness a development that will be very difficult to handle.

Please look at the map very well, if goods enter the region through Abia, we stab the country in the stomach (at the middle). Abia is connected to calabar, akwa ibom, Rivers, Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, etc. These states apart from Calabar are less than 30 minutes drive from Abia state. Foreign investors will see this has a ready-made market for them because they can spread their tentacles within a short time span within these states and make their monies fast. This will make our region lure thousands of investor for long term investments.

Abia state is better located than lagos. Lagos is at the edge of the country while Abia is at the middle where it can connect different states at thesame time. We should understand the importance of this analysis before throwing it into the trash can.

We should also think again, with the rising agricultural sector in the east, we're planning to start exporting our own agricultural products through our region. This will reduce loss of billions through accident and taxes in Lagos. Since its our port, we will get a lot of discount when exporting these products. What will be produced in the eastern region will be exported through our own port. This will make business easy and we will run our economy ourselves from our own home. It will be very easy to export to Gabon, south africa and other african countries close to us.

I am begging not because I'm a business man neither am I from the government, we should look into this seaport because its our eyes to the world. God never made the mistake of giving us that life-line because he knows we will need in future.

I want an eastern region where development will be evenly distributed and nothing will said about our goods been confiscated in wharf and our brothers running out of business. It is imperative I say this now before it becomes, "we should've done it" kind of situation.

keep this in mind, I am from Anambra state and Nanka to be precise. I am coming back to tell you what Anambra needs to do to destroy one state monopoly as been witnessed in this country.
vick james it is possible to site a seaport in Abia, but for it to be feasible the bridge linking Rivers to Akwa ibom would hv to go and some dredging wud take place,
the river which separates Rivers from Akwa ibom starts from Aba and ends in opobo emptying into the Atlantic Ocean.with the help of sth like a rig like structure in the first pic which would be located off the coast of any Nigerian state which would off load d ships into the rafts in the second boats and ferry them to the Abia port what do u think?...
