Spiritual maturity is a long maintained state of Spirit supremacy over all things that makes you "you." In saying what makes you,you I mean things that makes you a Spiritual reta'rd.

And If you are have "perfect" control over the areas listed below then you are Spiritually matured by the Standard of Christ irrespective of what your church teaches.

1. Anger: Anger brought down the great prophet Moses and caused him to be the one of the many who sees with their eyes but taste not with their mouth.Anger is a great hindrance to your growth into Spiritual maturity. To become a Spiritual giant in the Spiritual realm you need to subject anger. Remember no one heard a word of anger in his mouth.

2. Flesh: Talk about the fall of Samson flesh caused it in form of lust. The flesh is not the only hinderance as believed but one of the many hindrances to Spiritual maturity, quick and deadly.You must subject your flesh in all it's form.

3. Appetite: "How art the mighty fallen." Esau lost his birthright to appetite. The right to give birth to the natiom of Israel: for God has promised Isaac "To your seed" and Esau was the fist born; rightful heir but he lost it. Your appetite might hinder you from growing into Spiritual maturity.

4. Tongue: What brought plague upon the Israelites? Tongue.What brought leprosy on Miriam? Tongue. Need I to say anything more on Tongue? You have to subject and control

5. Jealousy: An inbuilt trait present in every single individual. Bad when supreme good when subjected.Spiritual maturity requires you to control your innate jealousy.

6. Feelings And Emotions: Seems a major problem among Christain youths.But if you don't control your feelings and emotions your feelings and emotions will control you and when it does you can never attain Spiritual maturity.

7. Thoughts And Imagination: When you have such a past like I had, thoughts and imagination becomes a great hindrance to your Spiritual growth into maturity.Notwithstanding, you have to have control over them and that is why there is number eight.

8. Heart: "Out of the heart comes......." The Bible admonish us to guard our heart. The ability to gaurd your heart is Spiritual maturity. What comes in and goes out,who comes in and goes out must always be under your control.

Seems hard,didn't it? But not when the Holy Spirit is involved. Remember by strength shall no man prevail even to say,you don't have power over your inner though you may do to some extent over your outer and these problems are inner. Not by power, nor by might but by my Spirit says the Lord.Remember, what the heart can conceive a man can achieve. Trust the Spirit and see if all these altogether will not be evident in your life.

May I correct some wrong assumptions here about me? Good.

First and for most am not a Religion person, I don't do Christianity and have not nothing to do with it, however I believe in Christ and I am a follower of Christ.That being said, if there is anything I find ridiculous that will be the phrase "Born again Christain" I don't really know what you mean by that or what your intents are but one thing I know there is nothing like "Born again Christain" cos every Christain are born again and every one born again are Christains.Be that as it may your last statement seems seemingly funny, practising on Nairaland you say,have you meet me in reality? If you go by my funny ways of chatting on this forum you will be at lost to who I am.I believe and old users on Nairaland can near me witness that I have solely write more than two times that no one should take me serious on any section except Religion section.

Even the revered Apostle Paul had his own infirmity for which he sought relief from God. Moses had his, Miriam had hers, ditto David (the man after God's heart). In fact, none is exempt!

As for me, I do not bother myself with epithets like "spiritual maturity," because Christianity in a nutshell is to have great love for God, for your neighbour, and for yourself; everything else is the work of the Holy Spirit.

Perhaps, you did not get the thrust of my argument. You see, I understood your post quite well. What I meant was, focus on spiritual maturity has its pitfalls and that every Christian's personal struggles with the flesh has nothing to do with "spiritual maturity"! David had inordinate appetite for women, but that didn't make him spiritually immature. Peter had issues with fear. The same can be said about Moses who had anger issues. All these reflexes do not make you immature. That was the point I was getting across.

Good points! Loving God with all ur heart is spiritual maturity! If u love God u ll hardly sin against him. But u can't love God unless u knw him. And u can't knw God unless the spirit reveals Him to u. Even whn u fall, like David, u ll exercise brokeness n sincere repentance.
I thnk every christian shud make effort to him. And the sure way to him is ; believing in the name JESUS , trusting only God, n pureness of heart. Blessed r the pure in heart for they shall c God

We live in the world so one is likely to falter in one way or the other. God shall continue to give us the grace to stand.

He did all those in a Hebrew story book called bible, Lets seen Him or his disciples/followers around today do it in real life.

Can't guarantee that I'm perfect on all of them. And I doubt if there is any man born of woman that can overcome all of them all together.

We all need mercy. Psalm 51.

Keeping all the 8 things doesn't guarantee ones entrance into the Kingdom of God. It's purely on grace. Remember, Lord Himself says that He will show mercy to whom He will show mercy. But, we only need to be conscious of our daily behaviour both morally and spiritual, seeking to obtain mercy through the blood of Christ and by His grace.

There are many factors in the world, especially in our nation that will hinder one to even live up to 3 of those mentions points. The frustration of life, the challenges of the economy, the numerous family problems, the dubious politicians and several behaviours of our law enforcers too. Nevertheless, His grace is sufficient for us all, if only we believe.

Nice write up, but I dare say your level of spiritual maturity is by how much YOU HATE SIN. So a simple test -how much do you detest sin? That shows your level..

It takes the GRACE OF GOD to overcome all this points, even the annointed ones in the Bible failed....
