To the Guys Planning their Trip to America

Please, e dakun, biko, dan Allah, etc. try as much as possible to get enough jeans before leaving Nigeria. Getting jeans trousers in America is perhaps the most expensive part of men's shopping. I am telling you, jeans, I mean jeans - thick, straight, and fitting ones - are expensive!

No matter how you are looking at it, getting a good pair no be beans. sad

For instance, a friend's brother got a pair of True Religion for me few years ago and I thought it was just one of those 'jeans'. Shockingly, I have not seen that type of jeans at a price lesser than $120. And I must say, I have checked quite a few outlets.

From my discoveries, a pair of 'manageable' jeans starts from like $35 - as u rich reach. Just try as much as you can to get enough pairs in Nigeria. JEANS ARE NOT CHEAP in America. Clothes are quite cheap if you know how to go about it, but sokoto is hell no!

Similar to this, please try get a pair of moccasin from Nigeria too. Folks here use it a lot but it is also expensive. A very good one - with correct ponmo - won't cost more than 5k in Nigeria. And I must say, you can use one for a long time. I am regretting leaving mine at home.

Thank you.

well, this talk doesn't apply to everyone. First, I don't like jean trousers. This is because I don't get enough air in jean trousers.
Secondly, I can't get my size in naija: shoes, trousers, suits. I don't think am too tall 6ft5inch, or too big 85kg though my shoulders are quite broad. I usually shop from those US stores and I don't buy the expensive stuffs. Occasionally, I also get stuffs from my bro. My shoe size is 13/46, how many shoes of those size will you find when every businessman imports from china? And the chinese are inclined to making stuffs for people of their heights. So, to the folks in US, I don't believe you have to pay so much to be stylish. I agree though that you should pack as much stuffs as possible from home.

your sizes are cheap here in US. They are always on clearance. You don't like jeans cos you're not on US or your sense or what you grew up with. My chinos pants are always in great shape cos my jeans is always on duty. I can't do without having atleast 4.

godG, you need to learn how to shop for clothes here in US. At your sparetime walk into any store and see what they've got on clearance or shop online which is also cheap. The site I have you does free shipping.

This is exactly why we tell people to just be honest - if they stop you at POE and interrogate you about this, there is a chance that you will be turned around and given a 5-year ban. This happens quite often.

Why would you put yourself in that situation when you could have just been honest and gotten the visa?

@LagosNIV
If a person have a full time sponsorship plus monthly stipend from the department for a PhD program. Do one still need to show SOA at the point of Visa Interview.

@NIVLagos,I am not d one in this situation,but you are absolutely correct he/she could get a ban.Someone who is doing a 4yr program only seek my opinion on this and I did advised him against it.At least I know little about d immigration laws..
