I stood up from the bench I had sat on, and walked around my backyard thinking about how to help Claret Chima regain the freedom and life she had lost as a result of the restriction of movement the governor had imposed on her. I said to myself: “James, the governor’s wife had cared for you when you needed care… You have to do all you can to help her now and fast.”

I continued contemplating how to come to the first lady’s rescue.

All of a sudden, inspiration came from nowhere physical around me but from a higher realm I guess!

I was inspired to reach out (from my base in New York) to some members of the human rights community I had known back home in Naigara, and a certain legal practitioner who had a genuinely cordial and friendly relationship with the first lady, Emife Alanafa, to save her from her husband. The first lady and I co-ordinated our efforts and made a public appeal for help, and our appeal generated reactions from Naigarans, and the civil society with several accusations against the governor, most of which bothered on unlawful detention and violence against women, given the physical and psychological suffering Mrs. Claret Chima was reported to be facing.

I was extremely glad when I realized the effort to rescue the first lady had yielded desired fruits. Naigarans came to her rescue, and Mrs. Claret Chima was then “liberated.” I advised her following her exit from Egunu state government house to relocate to one of her houses at Ajuba – the federal capital, away from the grips of her husband or his influence. She took my advice and moved to Ajuba from were she flew to UK for medical check-up before coming to New York to stay with me for a while.

Meanwhile, all the governor had to say to the public was simply to accuse his wife of so many things. He had also told the whole world that she had mental problem and that her friends were into diabolical stuff.

But then, after the first lady left Egunu state, Egunu government house and its occupants were left alone unhindered against the many ‘gifts’ that were brought to the government house courtesy of the numerous aides of the governor from the nearby tertiary institutions. Typically, selected and trusted aides to the governor were sent out to the many campuses around Egunu to scout for potential bed-mates for the governor. The aides usually return with up to four [4] girls who were believed to fit the governors specifications – large breasts, slim and tall. These tasks were carried out on a nightly basis – when the governor was present in the state.

It was obvious to the first lady and I that her absence in Egunu government house, had exacerbated the daily ‘runs’ practice to a near daily fiesta – with some of the ‘runs’ girls reportedly staying back at the government house for days and sometimes weeks before returning to their hostels or homes.

As the governor was frolicking with undergraduates who were age-mates of his first daughter from his first wife, the first lady and I had become closer to each other, fell in genuine love with each other, and f^cked more often.

Claret was happy to see me just as I was happy to see her too. But by the look of her face, she had been sexually starved and frustrated even as a woman married to a governor in Naigara. I had gotten hard thinking about it.

However, I had the night off so we went out to a club. We flexed, caught up with one another and talked about life and the recent travails she had experienced in Naigara. By the end of the night we were both drunk. I told her how I had kept myself loyal and devoted to her course since we I started sleeping with her back home in Naigara. Her comment to me was a question that startled me: "You want to have me for life?" She asked.

"Lets go to my Apartment" was what I told her.

When we got there, the first lady was all over me. She undid my belt, pulled down my pants. I was completely hard. The first lady shared a similar thought with me.

I kissed her forehead and muttered to her that I loved her so much. Though Mrs. Chima didn’t say anything as I expressed my love for her, her facial expression and the spontaneous nod she gave told me she had similar feelings for me too.

Then, placing her head on my right chest, I cupped her naked body with my right arm as we lay on my bed, I asked her what she thought about her marriage to Governor Oliver Chima of Egunu state? Her response showed me she was a little confused about the way forward. The first lady told me plainly Governor Oliver Chima was the father of her 4 years old son but that her marriage to the governor had broken down, and there’s no longer harmony and intimacy between them. In fact, they hadn’t f^cked as husband and wife since their only son was born four years ago.

“Damn!” I exclaimed.

I was startled by what I heard the first lady say about her relationship with the governor. So I asked “Why then have you stayed with him as wife all these while?”

The first lady answered my question as she told me that she had continued to stay in the marriage and at Egunu government house with hope that the governor would change his ways, become more of a responsible father, a committed leader at home, and a loyal lover of his wife. She also explained to me how several members of her family prevailed on her not to leave the governor because they were benefiting from him directly.

“Yes, that’s true.” I agreed.

The first lady gently rubbing my chest, kissed me on the neck and said: “James, I understand you so much as you also understand me. I feel a certain kind of harmony with you which I’ve never felt for any other man including my husband. I love you James.”

I felt good as I hear the governor’s wife say those words to me. Then, I kissed her on her forehead again and squeezed her full soft breasts a few seconds.

Afterwards, I told Mrs. Chima that I knew she had not been enjoying an harmonious relationship with the governor for years. I also recounted how even the President of Naigara and his wife, Patricia, had intervened at some point without success. The situation had inevitably led to a lot of embarrassing moments for her. Therefore, it’s quite suicidal to hang on to marriage.

The first lady then told me that she has learnt the hard way that wedding is not the same as marriage.

“Yes, you answer his name because he wedded you but there is no marriage between you two. Your souls are not blended in harmony. In a spiritual sense, you two are not married even though you had your wedding in a church.” I said.

Somehow, my hand slid down to her cl*t and made a few strokes at the tip.

Mrs. Chima then admitted she had lost a large part of her self-esteem due to the lack of harmony in her marriage but that nothing will stop her from restating her dignity and self-respect as a woman. No woman will maintain a stable self-esteem and womanly grace under the conditions she had been through under such a nasty marriage setting

The only way to terminate this kind of bad marriage is divorce.

The fact remains that Mrs. Chima was wedded to Egunu state governor, and I’m not particularly proud that I’ve been sleeping with her. But I have a message for you which propelled me to write my story:

You see, in life, no matter who you are today in your society or, who you may become in your environment tomorrow, your spouse is the most precious person you have in your life. Why not pay more attention to the love of your life? If you ever give your spouse the inkling that you’re no longer loyal to the relationship, the consequences may be your own servant taking your place in the life of your spouse.

I’ve been f^cking the governor’s wife. Yes, but I’m not regretting the experience. My soul blends harmoniously with hers. The governor’s lack of attention to his wife made she and I realize how harmonious our souls are. Now, I’m willing to do all within my power to restate her dignity and self-respect even if it means working to legally end her marriage to the governor. The first lady and I have genuine love for each other, and we have plans to marry each other as soon as her divorce to governor Chima is complete.

However, I’ll keep respecting the governor, and will ensure Claret keeps respecting him as the father of her son. I wish the governor well.
