To d gurus in the house. Do you need to submit your passport copy when applying for online route. I guess the consulate will request for it if they want to grant your permit.

I have an important trip to make and i dont want my passport to get stuck with the consulate for over 2 months.

Please advise.

Thanks
Online route don't hold on to ur passport until they request it for abt a week to issuance of ur visa. That's one of its many benefits. So u are good!

Going to Mcgill and UToronto... Its a lot of competition getting into those 2 schs as they are the to 2 schs in canada for now. Not saying u can't get them, but you would need to have a very strong academic stand, a very good purpose of intent, and a nice referee, majorly from ur supervisor in school, or a prof that taught u while in sch. I made a first class, and was not admitted at McGill, same wit anoda friend of mine, first class, and was rejected at first at UToronto. So, you need someting special, just as stated above to get this 2 schs. All d best

Thanks Bro. You didnt say anyting abt Brandon.

About the passport thingy, its probably not compulsory if you include other documents about your sponsor that directly or indirectly proves his identity.

Thanks for your elaborate reply.

As regards the quoted text above, what could these documents be? Are his bank statement and sponsorship not enough?

What course did you study at unilag? What course did you apply for at UoM?

My People,
Please help me. I have applied to The UofM and I hve not heard from them for 3weeks+ now. How long doe it take before they reply if I got the admission or not.

Also, I graduated from the University of Lagos with a 2'1. But I am confused as to whether Canadian schools use the CGPA or GPA of the last 2 semesters or sessions
I had GPAs of individual semesters since my 300L higher than 4.0 but my CGPA after final exams is 3.68
Please GURUS help shed more light to this...
Thanks

Hello Guys, nice work from all our contributors. I've not been so frequent here because of the nature of my work. However, I should be applying online for my study permit by this month's end.
I want to know the current CAD equivalent of my sponsor's account balance. Google says it's 149.46 naira. Since i want to give a detailed breakdown of my costs in proof of finance, should I use this value or that which is obtainable at banks (I currently don't know how much banks sell the CAD)?

I saw this same 149.46 when I wanted to run my budget, but I added a markup and worked with 153 instead. I stated this on my cost breakdown. Just tried to be reasonable. Some bank rates are way too outrageous.

Hello house, I submitted my application via paper route on the 17th of this month.
The documents I submitted.

My document

Birth certificate
School transcript
School certificate
Waec certificate
Affidavit of return
Reciept of fees (half) C$7,110
Police clearance certificate
Nysc certificate
Cover letter
Motivational letter
Letter of admission

For sponsor.

Mum's SOA with 13m minimum balance
Documents of landed properties
Affidavit of sponsor
Letter of financial support

(no pay slip, birth certificate, letter of employment, family pictures..etc)

I'm getting scared cos, reading through this thread, (by the way, from page 6 to 9)I realise most applicants submitted more than what I had submitted under sponsor)
Is this a bad thing?

Also, I actually took pictures of my family and share certificates of my mum along to the vfs office during submission, but I found out later after I got home..that the pictures and the share certificates was excluded and placed back into the envelope I gave them.

I'm confused..

each application is reviewed on a case by case basis and from your documents posted above i think you have nothing to worry about moreso as your mother is your sponsor, though inclusion of her payslips and employment letter would have been good, you've included other documents showing the relationship and current trends indicate that VO's certainly gravitate towards parent sponsorship a great deal, so do not fret or be confused.

Okay, thanks a lot.. this actually helps
But the playslips and employment letter is an issue.
I put my trust in God.. and hopefully the V.O doesn't consider that a serious matter

The only notable document you didn't submit was proof of your mom's income

But not to worry, you would come out good

Yh..since the exchange rate isn't really stable coupled with bank charges, it's a good idea to use a higher value. Thanks.

They probably are enough (particularly if the sponsorship letter or affidavit is notarized), I just prefer to play it safe.

Hello Guys,
I've read a lot through the posts but I couldn't quite find a definite answer to my question, which is; is it too late to start January entry application by mid November?
That's when my school transcript would be ready.
Thanks in advance for your help.

It depends on the deadline the school gives international students. However I'd say its late because before you get a reply (admission) from school then apply for the visa (which takes quite a while), we will be way past January.

3.6/5.00 is a second class upper and any school should accept that unless you are applying for scholarships which can be competitive. What course are you also planing to do.? May be we can work together
