@all, i hate to hear about c-band channels, cos they always require big dish to track, cos i am not financially buoyant to go for it.

mtchris:
GoTV is not better than TV3, RRsat, Oromia, First Service e.t.c all on 60cm
If you had both options, which would you go for? Be factual. These stations except first service are low quality stations with poor picture quality. @coderXO even said Oromia ke, lol.

HIGHESTPOPORI:

Live football is also on gotv but you dont watch only sports on tv. Gotv covers news, sports, cartoons, local movies, foreign movies in crystal clear quality. Gotv cover UEFA chanpions league, 3pm premiership, some la liga matches, etc.

wesley210:
definitely not better than IStwenty
IS20 is only temporary. Some of us dont have that time to be tracking keys every now and then. Subscribe and forget about signals, keys, etc.

ify4king:
@mtchris is right
Its depends on your choice of tv viewing. I will pick gotv package over a 2.4m dish fta channels or less.
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by KenJorge: 9:27am On Sep 28, 2015
EMMAACHILE:

Lol. It is not the end of the world or even the beginning. Subscribe to cheap pay tv like mytv/startimes/gotv to enjoy tv.
I will take a gotv 1800 package over those stations gotten under dish below 3m. That is my opinion.

You got it wrong
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by iliyande(m): 10:25am On Sep 28, 2015
Those picking gotv ahead Amos5 are on their own. I personally gave my friend my gotv decoder just to pursue my fta agenda.

That is my opinion. Let see it this way
Cartoon Network, Jimjam, Disney Junior, Boomerang has no fta alternatives even with a 3m dish
Local movies like AMEpic, AMfam, Amwld has no comparable fta alternatives
NatGeo wild has no fta alternatives
All these are convenient for the average user, no tweaking, no stress. I am not discouraging anybody from using 90 cm or less but it is just frustartion as @graphicicon has stressed over and over on the forum

If as a user, i dont have money to get a 3m dish or higher as things stand now, I wont bother with fta, period.

I have d 4940 decoder,I prefer d Mytv for 1k to Gotv, the mytv Africa for new Nollywood movies,Music,Local and Foreign News and MBC channels are on point, including Amos FTA for live matches is better than Gotv. The Africa Magic in Gotv is repetition, their SSelect Live matches has been programmed to show just 1 matches, but in Amos you can watch also qualifiers and Fifa tournaments, including d free 1 matches per Week!

Someone just sent me a message and what was asking me what i would get instead.
I told him, i dont use gotv package and it is not even available in Lokoja. Some even believe i am agent which is laughable.

I would get champions decoder for yamal satellite and get one of mytv (1100), gotv(1800)/starsat(2400) or DSTV family plan (3600) for normal home viewieng. With this, you are covered all round.

Those that are more versatile, get an android box.

Mytv is still ok if your family does not need cartoons. Movies=pass, News=pass, Football=Avg, Cartoon=poor though mytoons now available on that.

Apart from cartoon network and Nat Geo (for those that like it), I see nothing to pay for in that tv. I was so frustrated with their unstable signal. I rather go for abg qtv with football guarantee.
On my fta setup, I have 5 satellites altogether, so I hardly lack what to watch at a time.

I now see, you are very active advertising Android box in the other forum.

For your information, with my tablet/laptop with hdmi/kodi/Modbro tv installed, I don't need Android box. cool

What is wrong with that?
An android box is far more convenient than your tab or pc put together. Try it and see.

That is the ignorance most people like you have. I cannot spend more than N3000 a month on data subscription to watch the unwatchable on an android box. Quote me anywhere.

comment like this make people discourage in sharing info, what is he hiding that he has to come out open, if you are a good user of online streaming, u should have known that android box is more convenient than using kodi or what ever, laptop can't take the place of Box the only advantage is that its movable,

I experienced d same problem @ badagry, try to tweak ur lnb, push it in or out, adjust time and note d difference, if after this u are still stuck, buy strong c band lnb it should move ur signal to 62 or 63% and solve d problem.

use a diseqc switch. I also faced similar problem last week and was able to stabilize the signal using the switch.

Nothing difficult in tracking two or more Sats on a dish, tracked both Nss12@57e & IS-20@68.5e under 15mins. First track both sats without the diseq at maximum signal qualities making nss12 as ur primary lnbf and attaching IS-20 lnb at d top with the aid of a 'spoon' sold at satellite shops. You can even add other close Sats like apstar7@76e, ABS@74e etc if you have more spoons.Take note:the primary c-band lnb is supermax which is good for circular polarized sats (R/L), while the other c-band attached is strong which is superb for linear TPs (H/V).
The beauty of FTA is playing around with ur dish and trying different innovative ideas as u learn from this forum and others.Remember u can try the other way round by making IS-20 ur primary of which the nss12 will be attached downwards. I plan to add and track other Sats below our horizon like 80e,83e,85e at my leisure.
