Offemmannu - oily soup from South West

I'm igbo and i love some Yoruba food too (hey, im being sincere here)... My friend's girlfriend who is Yoruba cooks very well, although nt like the traditional yoruba woman who speaks and mingles with yorubas only, she is what we call the modern Yoruba lady, very pretty, By the way my friend is igbo, i noticed a growing trend of inter ethnic marriages between igbo and Yoruba.

I know some Igb O who eat amala and ewedu but I don't. I have eaten rice and stew cooked by Yoruba and that's where it ends.

The food "amala" is not poison, I guess, the food was poisoned, maybe unknowingly.



In my place, a girl came back to their house(after a long time) and used a plate they normally use to mix food but was now used in mixing food for rats with rat poison. To mix a normal food for the family, ur guess is as good as mine, because all that ate the food died.

We are all southerners, its not like i'm trying to incite any divisive word, all i'm saying is in every cosmopolitan city, there is bound to be ethnic and cultural mixing, very soon lagos based Yorubas will learn how to cook south eastern soups. i know Yoruba families who cook igbo and calabar dishes

I like efo eiro and pounded yam any day.just add a sizable egunfe and you would've made my day.try it at tank and tummy.thank me later.I'm Igbo.

IBO food is sweet. No doubt. One of the many reasons Im considering an Ibo girl for marriage. Yorubas don't have so many types of food like that.

Before cultural/social mixing can work well between Igbos and Yorubas, there must be political cooperation first.

i bought egusi soup from a yoruba woman yesterday at ikorodu,lo and behold there was ugu(fluted pumpkin leaves) in the soup

I can confirm this. Typically SE and SS foods minus Edo are pretty much the same, very nutritious evident in how physically strong our men are. There a reason why Yorubas, Hausas and some Edo look malnourished because their foods are not nutritious. Though the Yorubas and Hausas who live in the East and regularly eat eastern foods tend to be bigger and stronger in appearance. Several yrs ago, my good friend went to serve in Osun, he came malnourished, lost all muscles. At the time we couldn't figure out why this happened. However after staying just 2 weeks in Calabar, he gained his muscles back and looked more healthy. Eastern foods are very nutritious.

I try not to get involve in ethnicity discrimination or any form of tribalism

so therefore I do not blame anybody for insulting tribes

rather I blame the OP for creating an avenue for such, and inciting rude remarks

please refrain from doing things like this again

Guy, but these pictures you posted are pics of Yoruba food that they used to serve us, when I was in school in the South West. Is that not 'eba,' over there? And I can see 'efo riro', ponmo, bokoto, eja osan, panla, eja aro, and other Yoruba stuff etc, inside that plate in another picture, there... Guy, why you dey fall my hand now..??

Oya, this your assignment never finish... go and post pictures of 'ikokore', with pics of bush meat and pounded yam - the type you find in Ekiti, that makes people belch in satisfaction...post them all here!! Chai! I miss my Yoruba friends who used to carry me to different bukas in Lagos!
