This is one politician I love but I must say that if this was his response to the question then I am so disappointed. Is he saying that he didn't take into consideration his state's monthly income and that of Akwa Ibom. This is just like saying a man whose monthly or yearly income of 200k building a house of 3m because he saw his colleague whose income is 7m having that structure.
The op is really a clown...I watched it live and the op didn't state completely what the ekiti ex governor said...

And where did he say that the same amount was spent to build the Akwa Ibom govt house. That could cost over 10Billion naira for all we know

I respect this Man alot. I was a serving Corp member in his state and I was impressed with his policies to transform the educational system of Ekiti state. But sadly the people of Ekiti didn't appreciate the beauty of his government because of their selfish interest

Can u imagine some secondary school teachers were grumbling when Fayemi distributed free laptops to all Ss2 students in the state. Their reason was 'how will that affect their own pockets?'
I felt bad with their lackadaisical attitude towards giving these children proper computer education.

Dr. Fayemi deserves to be a minister

For those with comprehension issues, he didn't say he built the exact type of Akwa ibom govt. House. Akwa ibom government house will likely cost 10 times more

Fayemi is another shameless liar.

We saw copies of the invoices for that 50m bed.
Why then did he refuse to disclose the 'actual' cost of the bed?
Can you post copies of the invoice, rather than making baseless accusations

An intelligent man like him should know that a govt house is no asset.
It can't be rented out nor can it be sold.
He should have added a caveat saying it was a decision he would not repeat if he had a second chance.

* Defends how he governed Ekiti

* Says I never purchased a bed for N50m

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday, debunked reports that he ran the economy of his state aground, while he served as governor.
Fayemi, one of the 10 ministerial nominees currently being screened by the Senate today, said he governed Ekiti with transparency and accountability.

Responding to a thought-provoking question asked him by Sen. Olusola Adeyeye (APC Osun Central) to clarify newspaper reports that he left Ekiti in debt, that he spent too much money on the Ekiti Govt House, Fayemi said they were all rumours, stating that the government house was built with just N2.5 billion.

The ex-governor said being one of the youngest states in Nigeria, without a government house for 19 years, the magnificent Government House he saw in Akwa Ibom, when he visited former Governor Godswill Akpabio, enticed him to embark on the project to give Ekiti State, a befitting Government House.

Fayemi added that the controversial N50 million bed in the government house wasn’t purchased at that price.

According to him, none of the beds in the government house cost above N1.5 million.

Mehn....the way our politicians mention money is worrisome. A man using the word 'JUST' to express a whopping sum of #2.5billion.

It is high time, we're begin to ask our leaders to define sustainable development, having Agenda 21 in mind.

I wonder how someone can sleep on a bed of 50/1millon Naira in a 2.5 billion naira house while your state people are running away from thier landlords cause they either not paid salaries or the state has nothing much to offer..

I just wish our youths would change and not follow the footsteps of these men

Nothing is interesting..

Fayemi wont do anything even if he governs Ekiti state for one century...

2.5billion for Government house.
1.5million for Beds

As is if Akwa Ibom and Ekiti state are on the same level with regards to Federal Allocation. Is he not conversant with sustainable development as an intellectual?

In another news, If Fashola was all that, how come Lagos residents are complaining almost as if he never governed them...

Funny enough, most Nigerians dont know Intellectuals when they see one.
