That means there were several beds that cost about N1.5m each !!!!

But N1.5 for one bed is still too much for one of the poorest states like Ekiti.!!! Haba

You purchase a complete set of 2+3+ 2 single seater imported Italian settee plus an 8 chair dining set for that amount. Go to Bedmate and check the price.

I respect ex-Gov Fayemi, and I believe he was a prudent man. But allowing for these kind of costs for procured government furniture is too much.

Can't all these government officials do their work without using pricy cars, pricy furniture, pricey hotels, etc.
Haba!! Our leaders are just sucking us dry and killing us in this country.

none of the beds in the government house cost above N1.5 million.

He said none of the beds in the government house cost above N1.5 million

Reading and comprehension is really a major problem on NL.

* Defends how he governed Ekiti

* Says I never purchased a bed for N50m

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday, debunked reports that he ran the economy of his state aground, while he served as governor.
Fayemi, one of the 10 ministerial nominees currently being screened by the Senate today, said he governed Ekiti with transparency and accountability.

Responding to a thought-provoking question asked him by Sen. Olusola Adeyeye (APC Osun Central) to clarify newspaper reports that he left Ekiti in debt, that he spent too much money on the Ekiti Govt House, Fayemi said they were all rumours, stating that the government house was built with just N2.5 billion.

The ex-governor said being one of the youngest states in Nigeria, without a government house for 19 years, the magnificent Government House he saw in Akwa Ibom, when he visited former Governor Godswill Akpabio, enticed him to embark on the project to give Ekiti State, a befitting Government House.

Fayemi added that the controversial N50 million bed in the government house wasn’t purchased at that price.

According to him, none of the beds in the government house cost above N1.5 million.

Haha! see ur life, u want to follow Akwa ibom ,don't u know that Akwa ibom is naturally endowed with riches,do ur state ekiti has oil, natural gas or even red oil we are over blessed with all those things mentioned, talk about oil/gas both onshore/offshore ,talk about palm oil ? Though with our black mentality we do not regard palm produce as anything,in Akwa ibom from end to end is covered with palm trees of diff. Types but because of minority nigerian govt. Have been politicizing over these natural resources just yesterday they started increasing our budget which may take time b4 we can meet up with other states like Abia, Imo in terms of development let alone rivers state which they (nigerian govt.) diverted over 200 of Akwa ibom oil well to, nigerian govt., anya nelu uwa nele unu nile...in other news...''invest in Akwa ibom ''

Fayemi is another shameless liar.

We saw copies of the invoices for that 50m bed.
Why then did he refuse to disclose the 'actual' cost of the bed?

His claim about the Akwa Ibom govt house is laughable.
Is Ekiti's revenue same as Akwa Ibom? It's like a poor primary school teacher
borrowing to buy a Rolex wrist watch just because he saw Dangote wearing one
You nailed it bro, a lot of guys are blind to the fact...I don't blame them.
Re: What I Saw In Akwa Ibom Made Me Built N2.5bn Ekiti Gov House-fayemi by stanech: 7:30pm On Oct 13, 2015
You see how stupid this fayemi guy is?

He saw a govt house in a rich state and you want to replicate it in a poor state like ekiti. At the detriment of the people.

He actually said the internally generated revenue of his state is 300million. And you use 2.5billion that's about 1year of IGR to build a government house.

Now this is the same way Osun was busy commisioning talking drum and paying for unnecessary publicity when in reality his state is a dry land

Oshomole will soon commence the collection of land charge in a poor state like Edo. Where there are no industries because of this same white elephant projects littering all over the state. The tax burden on the people of the state is already too much for the people already

If these are the ministers that will work with the chief dulllard then my people na doom dey come

The ugly and gloomy Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly...

Ekiti State House Of Assembly..

With Akwa Ibom's riches, they can do better or just go to Ekiti to see what a state Assembly should look like..
A recent building should always be better than the former. The Akwa ibom state house of assembly was built by the governor before Akpabio. Trust me if Akpabio was the one who built it, it would ve been uncomparable. But it's not a competition anyways, allocation differs hence one should expert more.

Hence relativity when it comes to what this and that governor is able to do with available resources.

I can bet my life that with akpabio's available resources given to Fayemi means Ekiti very close to looking like Dubai.

Akpabio did not build 1 single hospital in 8 years while Fayemi built a new 300 bed hospital.

Akpabio presided over the richest state and largest state budget in Nigeria came up with just a few roads, flyover, 1 library, 1 cinema and 1 football field.

No new schools

No new hospitals

No new clinics or health centers

No water works

No skills centers

Nothing.

Imagine less than 4 yeye projects after 8 years in office and wasted largest budgets in nigeria.

Lagos state with 20 million people and smaller budgets delivered hundreds of projects and even practically commissioned projects everyday.

Amaechi built hundreds of the best schools in Nigeria

He built new hospitals, roads, bridges, water works and so on. He even delivered more projects than that entire region combined many times over.

Money is not everything, it's the mentality of the person spending the money and what they are able to do with the money..

Btw, the richest state in Nigeria should have a better looking assembly than that absurdity..

are you telling me 1.5m is much for a bed.even some average home have bed worth 500k or more.and 2.5 billion is not too expensive for a government house if I may say. When you go to the building you will even appreciate what he was able to accomplish with the said amount.Otedola's house alone cost more than that.

Watch out Fayemi will disappoint Buhari and Nigerians. There's nothing diffirent about him and every other conventional Nigerian politician. I have lived in Ekiti state. I know him well, forget his political scientist portfolio but dont vquote me o!

While he is very intelligent and he defended himself well, to build a #2.5 billion naira Govt. House wasnt an intelligent thing to do in a Civil Servant State like Ekiti that receives one of the least allocation from the FG and one of the least economically viable States in Nigeria.

"Done a fasola in Ekiti" by building a government house with over 2 billion and plunging the poor state into debts? How many industries do they have and what is their IGR in ekiti. That’s a carefree extravagant spending.
