Apart from the title which is intellectual theft - the storyline of the movie's basically more of Sierra Leonean child soldiers, that has already been told many times, with Idris Elba as the main character (due to his Sierra Leonean ancestry) than anything else. Nothing spectacular or original - just intellectual theft everywhere, without originality.

I believe he just followed Chimanmanda's blueprint of war story (stories like that sell a lot cos of how westerners are fixated on reading about tragedies in 3rd world countries), with a catchy and legendary phrase, from an African icon. Nothing special.
