If Amaechi is praying for the Senate to screen him without recourse to the suits before the courts but at the same time telling the Senate not to look into the petition against him because it is subject to litigation, then it amounts to confusion on the part of Amaechi. It will be best for Amaechi to exempt himself from screening until the suits before the couty has been determined. |

"Sir, this intention is borne out clearly from the conduct and restless activities of the petitioner who has expressly stated in his petition to the Senate that he had written same petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offence Commission (ICPC), the two foremost institutions in the country vested with the authority to prosecute financial and corrupt practices related offences. Except to speculate that the petitioner has no confidence in both the EFCC and ICPC, one would have thought that the petitioner should have awaited the outcome of the investigation of his allegations by these institutions. He did not do so because he has one goal, one mission: to malign and discredit the person of our client before the Nigerian people." If the above is correct, then why has neither the EFCC nor the ICPC invited Amaechi for questioning? EFCC tells us that they act on petitions but why is this different ? Is Amaechi sacred or untouchable? Is the anti-corruption war only against a select few? Why would the petitioner be confident in the anti-graft agencies when the accused has not received a mere invitation for questioning from them? In an ideal world, the Senate would stay action on Amaechi's screening, and request the EFCC to expedite their investigations after which he would be screened. PMB's tenure is at least four years, so there is still plenty of time for Amaechi to be made a minister if he is cleared of all the allegations. A sane government especially in other climes, would withdraw the nomination of a nominee which is tainted with controversy and corruption-related allegations until such time when he is cleared. This is the change from our norms that I expected but nay....we are still in the same shit... |

Because Mr Amechi stands on the truth and that is why Gov. Wike and his gang star are against him. As far as Nigerians are concern,it cannot happen, let us watch. |

All this English is inconsequential. Answer just these simple questions; Where is the over 40 billion of Rivers Savings taken shortly before the elections to fix major roads in Rivers? Which contractor was mobilized and which account were they paid into? It's been less than 1 year since this happened, where is the road exactly? Like his counterpart (Fashola) who claimed 'I do not sign cheques' as if Cheque is synonymous to approval. |

sakaguchi:This Yorubas can twist things, Amaechi was the first to betray GEJ when he used his power as Chairman of Governors forum to fight and side the Northerners so that GEJ will do only one term and zone back the presidency to the North because he want to become a Vice President that was the reason GEJ decided to remove him as chairman Governors forum. Amaechi is a greedy Politician, we all know the feats Fashola achieves before going into Politics, I mean he is a SAN but If you see Amaechi CV you will weep for Rivers state...from an assistant/arrant boy in PAMO clinic straight to speaker of HOA, those of us who know Pamo clinic knows that an assistant in PAMO clinic is on a less than 50 thousand Naira salary, with 3rd class in Education Management from UNIPORT, pls this is not the time to make such unintelligent person a minister, he is just a political agbero and he has tried for himself to get to where he is now but this is time to face all his SINS. |

Pinkybush:What is South South right?. Jonathan was in power for six years thanks to Obj. You people are getting this SS region into more trouble everyday with these statements. No region has a right to the Presidency but all Nigerians have the right to it. How do you want other regions to react to this silly statement?. Why must Amechi support somebody he does not like because of ethnicity. The man's wife nearly turned him into a zombie in his own state. They invaded the assembly with thugs to impeach his speaker and him. You guys think only one side. Why was Patience not warned that whatshe was doing will rob the south south of their chance ?. Politics is not kid stuff . In Yorubaland Akintola Awo issue caused a big ruckus and it was not even as serious as what the Jonathans tried to do in Rivers State. Why did they not try that with Akpabio?. APC would have been controlling Akwa Ibom since 2013. Let us get serious in this country. |

honeywealth75:So why is he afraid to allow the jury decide if he is guilty or not..... going to court to block investigation is criminal itself so he is already guilty.... He thought he is in the same class as Odili, forgetting he is errant boy who use to clean Odili's cars, even as I dont like Odili another criminal. |

olumide81:Is your submission also applicable to Deziani and all officials who served under GEJ but have been without conclusive trial condemned by you and your fellow mischief makers as thiefs in your jaundiced court of public opinion? |
| Re: Ministerial Screening: Amaechi Fights Back by Adminisher: 8:49am On Oct 17, 2015 |
kaycid77:Excuse me but irrespective of pedigree, Amechi delivered in his first term. His qualification and inexperience are unimportant. Jonathan himself was an ordinary A level teacher turned NDDC middle level manager by quota system within Bayelsa, you can go and find out. GEJ himself has admittedany times that his knowledge and experience were below job requiremen's. The news was carried in the papers. The important thing is vision, incorruptibility and standing for something. Amechi is very modern, open minded and innovative. |

Secondly, he equally lnvoled politics of bitterness towards is own people in the name of fighting corruption, was it only pastors that was given money? what lmans, who hardly hear someone of Amechi postion speaking against is region, if his so freedom fighter what had he said concern the fulani problems in the country?. Amechi is betrayal . |

codedguy1:Allegations remain allegations until proven in a court. This is the gist of Amaechi's letter: allegations do not prevent someone legally occupying office. Alams was caught with millions of pounds undeclared, which broke the money laundering laws of the UK. Rather than go through trial to prove the case or otherwise, he jumped bail, as guilty people do. GEJ has no right to pardon a man convicted of crime in another country. I'm not saying Amaechi is innocent, just that the onus is on the accusers to prove their case. He even challenged them to take their case to court, rather than the court of public opinion. |
