NgeneUkwenu:since Amaechi said the panel report should not be considered by the senate since it is a subject of court action, it's only logical that Amaechi's Screening should be suspended until the determination of the suit. 2 Likes |

The day we all call a spade, "a spade", certainly Nigeria will be great. For now, we all must continue suffering for our lack of patriotism. I am of the opinion that PMB is aware of all these issues but refuses to dabble into them...for him, he has done is part...nominating the person who joined to bankroll his campaigns. However, he has equally exposed the person to the litmus test of Nigerians and its laws... I say this because under PDP, the event may have played out differently... But, why should we always fight for those who have moral burdens?...then again, Politics will be used as a reason. Why don't we make politicians scared of milking us dry?... Political reasons again. I am afraid that it'll take Armageddon of a kind for Nigeria of our dream to become a reality. For whether, Amaechi becomes a minister or not, most of us will prolly still remain in our "state"... APC is not so different from PDP wrt its content, only that its leader has decided to do things differently and we should be praying he continue in that way. Attacking each other without reasonable but emotional arguments only makes us what we are up till now...Losers. Because, at the end, what tangible thing that is not our right have we gained from these people 2 Likes |

I don't understand all of you. GEJ is from Bayelsa state. I am from Bayelsa state. However frankly speaking GEJ didn't deserve to win the election. He performed badly during his Tenure. Any corrupt political deserves to be prosecuted. Integrity group and Rivers state Governor WiKe submitted petitions to EFCC and to court for hearings respectively in August. PMB was aware yet he nominated Amaechi. Is this how he wants to fight corruption. If PMB hears that Diezanni stole N120B, immediately he will be so much interested in investigating. For Amaechi he is reluctant. Any politician who is corrupt should be prosecuted. PDP OR APC. Nigeria will never be a good country if everyone doesn't speak of the truth. All these politicians don't care about us. 3 Likes |

okeybig: Wake up bro.... don’t expect it....wail no more. The only change that has come and is guaranteed is power change from pure civilian to ex-generals like it has always been. The media mafia was instrumental in the coup....ask father Matthew Hassan Kukah...a fellow northerner who knows Nigeria well. Agreed that only a court can pronounce an accused ''corrupt'' but which court has pronounced Stella Oduah, Diezani and Orubebe corrupt. Even Oshimole and PMB call GEJ and everyone that worked with GEJ as corrupt without any court pronouncement. I voted for GMB twice but I am disappointed he scammed me. Corruption is growing just depends on if you are loyal to the people in power or not. No govt. can win war against corruption if the president acts in a way that is largely perceived to be partial. Perception is very key in the fight against corruption. 2 Likes |

obayaya:The President at this time is guided by wisdom to weigh the consequence of Amachi's nomination. Like I said earlier, the President and well meaning Nigerians are aware that this is a scheme hastily orchestrated by certain organs for political gain. Only the unlearned and perhaps those with primordial intent will find occasion to discredit the corruption campaign. The President can not at this point allow the disgruntlement of these few coax him into going against what his subconsciousness adjudged to be morally right. 1 Like |

FreeGlobe: The subject of the petition Which Wike and his cohorts are relying on as their evidence is a already matter pendinG before competent jurisdiction. So the committee cannot rely on the submission in order not to be prejudicial and be accused of preempting the court. So the Senate committee on public petition is expected to submit a one line report for the committee of the Whole to consider. |

advocates: You are missing the point.. There's no smoke without a fire.. The principle of Whistleblowing is built around the concept of "witchhunting", "bad belle", "Pull them down syndrome", "primordial intent", or whatever you choose to call it. People will snitch on you not because of honor or love of country, but because they don't like you. Sane societies take advantage of these sentiments to purge themselves of corruption. There are series of petitions and allegations against Amaechi. A government serious on fighting corruption will look at these allegations. In sane climes, someone with such allegations is expected to honourably decline the appointment. So the President's subconsciousness judged Amaechi to be a right choice despite the Allegations of Corruption? Really? So much for anti corruption 2 Likes |

advocates: You deserve some very chilled drinks for this. This has been my arguments all along. For me, it's not about the veracity of their claims at the moment but the motives behind their actions which they have never hidden even before the elections. Truth is these guys can take this man's life if he's not careful. The desperation is very clear and open to discerning minds. They have exhausted every instrument of blackmail including courting the president and trying to subtly blackmail him on his change mantra. But Nigerians know and see beyond their shenanigans, IT'S ABOUT AMAECHI IS A TRAITOR AND MUST BE PUNISHED. Who will expect the president to pander to such sentiments? Only fools will do. For Christ's sake why the desperation? Does a minister have immunity against prosecution? 1 Like |

kinibigdeal: Yes she is a thief even without any pronouncement from any Court.........no sentiment nor blackmail. Yes a thief! Amaechi only became a thief simply because he defected to APC and also his alignment to opposition forces poised to oust a sitting "Niger Delta Nigerian" president. He suddenly became a thief in the last 18 months in office, no wonder the tout of a Governor only decided to set up a kangaroo panel to probe only 18 months of his entire period in office as a Governor of Rivers State. Obviously, Amaechi's crime is "he betray the niger delta", "he betray his brother" nonsense. Finally, the desperation bid in stopping Amaechi from being a minister is laughable and clearly shows that all allegations against him are intended to stop him. I made bold today to say Amaechi is innocent........the singular reason they could not charge him to court. |
Re: Ministerial Screening: Amaechi Fights Back by advocates: 10:38am On Oct 17, 2015 |
obayaya:Now I know where you stand. A government built on discretion doesn't just go by every public outcry especially in this scenario where it is clear that the objective of the accuser is to 'detect' for the president who is fit for his cabinet or not through their unproven allegations currently before the court. Any government that always allowed public outcry to stir its ship, will soon crumble. Every action in a morally right government is taken in the interest of the majority whose morality coincide with its morality. |

patrickmuf: jogojogo: wexyee: I talked about the morality of the issue at hand and not whether one was convicted or not. If the president nominates someone who has a lot of allegation against him, is it not right that the allegations be investigated before giving him more responsibilities considering the supposed stand of the president on corruption. Its a moral issue is what am saying. I did not think GEJ was right to have given Alams presidential pardon but he was within his right to pardon anyone he wanted as the president, but it was Morally wrong. Same applies here, Buhari has the right as the president to naminate Amaechi, but with all these allegations of corruption hanging on his head it is morally wrong for the nomination. 1 Like |
