elampiro:Ohkay.. If we are to remove setplays, the following assertions can be made from statistics.. • The difference in class between giroud & those guys wasn't too much. •Diego Costa was the best CF in the league last season. Do you agree?? |

coogar:Fact is, this is Rooney's last chance to at least try to get close to Shearer and Bobby Charlton's records in league and club respectively. I dont think any sane coach ll play him as a CF any longer after all the hogwash we've seen from him so far this season.. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Nobody: 8:09pm On Oct 23, 2015 |
funlord:Azzin! I'm worried and confident at the same time ![]() I believe we can get a result only if the team selections and tactics is properly planned. As for KDB, the guy is just on a lowkey. Nobody's talking abt him yet especially after banging in goals and assists almost every matchday |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 8:12pm On Oct 23, 2015 |
AdeLaNa1:he's england's captain..... journalists have been warned not to criticise him. when rooney plays as a #9 & serves hogwash on the pitch, the blame goes to his teammates that they don't create enough for him. when rooney plays as a #10 and plays shytë, the striker gets the blame that he doesn't finish the chances created by röoney. it's always been like that, it would always be like that. martial has scored as a left forward & has also scored as a centre forward.....he doesn't need excuses - if he plays, he would score while rooney has to make excuses to score goals. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Nobody: 8:26pm On Oct 23, 2015 |
AdeLaNa1:The problem is, if he isnt being played upfront, where else should he play? I wouldn't want to see Rooney as a number 10 because he is useless in tight spaces, gets easily knocked of the ball, and worst of all, isn't even creative. Which leaves us with the wings, where i think he can be fairly effective, he does seem to have energy to burn, can put in a few good crosses sometimes, and wouldn't have defenders on him immediately he gets the ball, but why LVG now hasn't seen this is what i still cannot Phantom. We are literally giving up our attacking threat just to accommodate him and it does my head in, and to think we have to put up with this shite at least till his contract expires makes me really really sad. |

Dadehmola:Giroud came in the second half of the season when everyone was already tired. Just like Sturridge did the season before. He became fit in December 2013, by January 2014 he was scoring like Ronaldo and Messi until he injured again. Aguero was far better than Costa last season. Look at his Assists. |

What is happening to Martial now is what happened to Rooney when he came to United. He was sacrificed for other players. He was pushed to the wing and number 10 for other players. That affected his natural ability to play as an out and out striker. When Nistelrooy left, Rooney should have been made a permanent striker or a permanent number 10 so he could developed well. Even in 2009/10 he scored 27 goals, we still went to buy Hernadez. I think SAF needed him more in the deep. Since he has played more in the deep, I think he should just end it there. |

Van Gaal says injuries last season were caused by his tough training. |

coogar:Pundits alike, Coogs. The other day Scholes was saying how the system deprives Rooney of Chances and he was sure if he had Chances he would easily put them away like he did at Goodison, i sat there startled, like did Scholesy just watch the same game i did? We had a striker that was doing his best to avoid the ball, misjudging headers and only had to be pressured a little before he gave the ball to the CSKA midfielders. Even the game against Everton, a decent striker would not only have scored two, but maybe even three goals, but he kept positioning himself behind their defenders whenever the ball was to be played to him. Honestly, i dread what'd have happened had we not gotten in Martial and persisted with say, hernandez. |

darefestus:Errm....on the bench?? If the most expensive player in British history could be benched for A.Young and then sold off after one season, then who the hell is Rooney.... |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Dadehmola: 8:44pm On Oct 23, 2015 |
elampiro:In his absence, why didn't they score loads of goals ?? Elampiro..stats are facts, remember?? ![]() elampiro:Unfortunately, I have decided to rate them based on their primary function on the pitch - scoring goals! Statistically, Diego Costa was the better CF last season. Wetin stats don cause for this thread ehn.. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Nobody: 8:47pm On Oct 23, 2015 |
elampiro:Saf didn't need him deeper, because Rooney always wanted the ball, he always came deep to get it and since he played that season alone up top, it left us short of an attacking presence in the opposition's box, and the idea of Hernandez wasn't to shut Rooney out, it was more to play with him. Disregarding the goals return of 2009, Rooney's best performances came as a second striker, he isn't your traditional CF. As for Martial, good thing he cut his teeth as a winger, so it wont be that much of a change for him, like Rooney in CM, i actually like that he is being played in multiple positions, his game will improve for it, me thinks. |

Dadehmola:When season starts in August, everyone is filled with energy, so it's hard to score. If you start scoring early, it could mean you trained harder in the preseason and you will soon tire. But the striker coming at Christmas will be using his fresh energy against tiring defenders. |

elampiro:how come playing ronaldo in the wing didn't affect his natural ability? henry also started as a winger & he was very prolific. you guys just make nonsense excuses to cover up for rooney's pathetic performance! darefestus:all the pundits are tutored to speak in a certain kind of way. one of the perks that come with being the captain of 3 lions is you would be immune to media criticism. We had a striker that was doing his best to avoid the ball, misjudging headers and only had to be pressured a little before he gave the ball to the CSKA midfielders. Even the game against Everton, a decent striker would not only have scored two, but maybe even three goals, but he kept positioning himself behind their defenders whenever the ball was to be played to him.with the way everton threw caution to the wind in that game, martial woulda banged a hatrick @goodison park! Honestly, i dread what'd have happened had we not gotten in Martial and persisted with say, hernandez.rooney is the problem..... none of the players LVG sold was as poor as rooney has been in the last 6 months. kagawa wasn't this poor & we let him go. rooney continues to serve rubbish performance every week and the media don't even say jack about it. |

Big Bele Coogar I don't have your time. Look at what you bolded (highlighted) and compare it with your response and see how you goofed already. Once Henry was made a striker, he was allowed to develop there. Ronaldo developed as a winger. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Nobody: 9:00pm On Oct 23, 2015 |
elampiro:Really? You did? Who'd have thought? Players get fatigued as the season wears on, doesn't mean you cant post decent numbers in the second half of a season still. Infact, we've had strikers score more in the 2nd half who started the season scoring too. There is no laid down marker to explain such occurence, depends on several factors and isnt just simple this or that. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Dadehmola: 9:00pm On Oct 23, 2015 |
darefestus:Why are you surprised?? Is this the 1st time elampiro would make bogus claims in a bid to cover up for the inconsistencies associated with statistical analysis (of players)?? This issue has been pointed out on numerous occasions but of course, anything...just about anything could be put forward to back up arguments here (no matter how disjointed the argument is). |

elampiro:so strikers would get exhausted cos of early season goals while those that have been missing theirs won't ![]() |

Dadehmola:And who was arguing with you? I don't even know what you intend to do with those stats. I just told you some things that could have influenced certain aspects of the stats. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 9:05pm On Oct 23, 2015 |
chrisley024:A player who started in August should be tired by February. A player who started in January should be fresh till end of season. And he will be up against tired players. |

Manchester United: Louis van Gaal blames lack of winter break for English clubs' European woes October 23, 2015 11:46 BST "There is no winter break and I think that is the most evil thing of this culture," Van Gaal said, as quoted by the Telegraph. "It is not good for English football, it is not good for the clubs or the national team and I think you should change it. England has not won anything for how many years? It is because all the players are exhausted at the end of the season. "It is always possible [to win the league and Champions League] and I have done thatBut I also lost when we were champions in Germany, before losing the Champions League final. It is harder these days. The Premier League is the most difficult league to win because of the high level of the teams and you cannot beat a team easily, he added. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/manchester-united-louis-van-gaal-blames-lack-winter-break-english-clubs-european-woes-1525351 Is it not a similar thing Van Gaal is saying here. Gaal is saying players who have Christmas break have advantage over the ones who didn't. That the ones who didn't are exhausted and |
