It is for you dear. This is the time for you to start planing ahead not after graduation. It is better you know what is happening outside the walls of the university on time.

your mind is too small!

Don't see marriage as a gate way, many people people do have a story to tell. I won't say you should work hard or HUSTLE, but play smart. Learn new things

The struggle is real, may God help us.
Getting a good job in naija is war,not easy at all. And they say go into business, find smtn and do,don't be idle. Fine its good, securing fund however little to go into d business is anoda herculean task. And let's say d biz dsnt rquire startup fund, how soon can one find his or her feet steady in the business enof to stat reaping benefits, and within dat period how will dis so called jobless youth fend for his or herself? We can all see dat its indeed a hopeless situation. But one musnt give up. I got two younger siblings at home now, since dey cam bak frm nysc in July we've been scouting for jobs for dem,its becoming depressing I must say. Most times the pressure is much on me cos to a large extent I still try my best to cater for them(not an easy task o but with God)
Wish one can just get job easily without paying in cash or kind or knowing someone, everyone shd hav equal opportunity. Not you be 20yrs wit 5yrs work experinece, looool!
Abg no be advert o,but incase any job recruiter(s) is (are)viewing this thread mbok I got tow sibllings, one Bsc Chemical Engineering and one Bsc Accounting, both products of Uniben. Make una help una sister mbok,God bless.
And lastly:check my signature! *winks*

We won't get necessary skills to do online freelance jobs, We won't stay under the sun or get our shoes dirty through farming, We can not learn fashion design/tailoring, We won't get loan to set up a standard barbing/hair dressing saloon, laundry mart or car wash, We won't exploit our African cooking skills by opening a small restaurant, We will not teach 6 to 8 kids of willing parents in our environment Private home lessons, We won't drop our pride as graduates and start selling mobile phones from small show glasses like the boys in Computer village.

No all We ask as graduates is an Oil and gas job or an office job with minimum entry level salary of 200k even though we know the country's economy is SUPER bad and few jobs are out there!

As I write this, I consider it a message to myself and also to fellow job seekers on Nairaland.

I can't count how many times I check my inbox and spam in day, and think - "why have I not been contacted?" - "when will they contact me?" and other related questions. I know many are like me, with this same behaviour and thoughts, but my advice today is don't think yourself into depression. It's definitely not a good place to be.

Let me make this short, To avoid depression and frustration in this job seeking business, engage your mind on a daily basis, learning something new, whether it's a skill or an online course.

Read, dear job seeker, you have to read, read books that keep your mind alive and gets you thinking, I am not talking about motivational books here, unless it's what you fancy, but read, it's a must.

Lastly, refresh your skills and knowledge daily, whether it's writing, communication, leadership, any skill you have, Please do refresh these skills and always put them out there.

PS: Nowadays, employers call for aptitude test first so you might want to pick up GMAT and get accustomed to it. I recently attended an aptitude test and the numerical reasoning part gave me headaches, I studied political science so it's been a long time since I solved ratios, percentages and all.

Feel free to add your experience and tips to what I already stated.
Thanks For Reading.

Easy to say, hard to do.

When you keep getting rejection e-mails everyday, It's common to start blaming yourself and sink into depression. It's extremely frustrating to be unemployed or having no funds to start a business.

Never said it was easy. Life itself is not easy.

Nice one at OP. Now you do not have a job, it doesnt mean one should be jobless in all ramification. In your period of waiting for job, make sure you are doing something that is of added value. This is a question your potential employer could ask "what have you been doing in the period you were unemployed?"

True, I was asked this question in one interview.

After marriage, what next? A woman must work in marriage to be respected by a man,so she wouldn't end up feeling like a maid that is just giving birth,it helps the self-esteem. Marriage isn't an escape route from unemployment, you would still be faced with it in marriage.
